This has been my kids' only pediatric dentist office. We were referred here by an educator from the children's home studies department at Bates Technical College. They "loved" doctor Cam and Beck. Whenever there is a question on our neighborhood Facebook group for pediatric dentists Fircrest Children's Dentistry is raved about. The front desk is friendly & efficient. The dental assistants have all been amazing and caring, and we have now seen 3 dentists here who all have been wonderful with both of our kids. I've glad we found this office, our kids now also say they love going to the dentist. read more

I brought my daughter here for the first time coming from another local children's dentistry place that we had unfavorable experiences with. My daughter usually refuses to get X-rays done or even really let them inside her mouth for a cleaning, it gives her a lot of anxiety. I must say that it warmed my heart with the staff at Fircrest Children's dentistry to see my daughter gain confidence and trust with them allowing them to do the normal procedure for a checkup and cleaning. Barbara was patient and took everything a step at a time to explain and make my daughter feel comfortable. Dr. Beck was funny and made her laugh to ease her comfort even more. She actually said for the first time that her dentist appointment was "amazing." Very grateful for this experience today. read more

I have been working on shortening my reviews, but I have so many good things to say about this place. My eldest had been to 4 other dentist before we finally ended up here. We have now been seeing Dr. Camm for almost 9 years. Here are some of the many things I like about this place: 1) They do not stack appointments. Therefore, wait time is minimal. 2) The waiting area is very kid friendly. Normally, I don't find this a perk, but if your child has any fears about the dentist, I think this will help put them at ease. 3) The office and staff are decorated in rotating Seattle college and professional teams. It's just fun. 4) The actual exam area is colorful and has tvs on the ceiling. Again, I'm not usually an advocate of medicating kids with movies, but the movie and ear phones really relaxed my kids when they were younger. They have no qualms about coming to the dentist. 5) The best part is Dr. Camm. He takes the time to explain to the kids what he is going to do, what he is doing, and what he has done. They appreciate it and enjoy the information. 6) In the end the kids trade in their tokens for prizes. 7) The billing has never been messed up. 8) Most importantly, I love that Dr Camm puts a sealant on Their back teeth. A lot of dentist don't do this. My two sons have never had a cavity, and I'm pretty sure it's not because their hygiene is flawless! Unfortunately, Dr. Camm no longer accepts patients, but his associate, Dr. Beck does. I've recommended 5 families here and they all love Dr. Beck as well. My kids (13 and 7) love coming to the dentist. It's so refreshing! There's something to be said for a dentistry that specializes in only servicing children. Now, does anyone have a good pediatrician to recommend? read more

I was pretty bummed today when I called the office to get my 2 daughters seen was informed that they don't accept patients over 8 years old. Perhaps my 9 and 11 year olds are not considered children anymore? Pretty odd if you ask me. read more

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! This was my first pediatric dentist, so granted I don't have a lot to compare it to, other than my mommy instincts. Kids are almost 4 and probably overdue to start their dental routine. Dr. Beck/Fircrest Children's Dentistry was actually recommended by a source we will not name since it was from another dental office (might I add I love them too, but since they work on children too, albeit not their main business, I don't want to get anyone in trouble.) Anywho...onto my review. From start to finish the process was painless and quick, for both my twins and myself. Extremely friendly and helpful staff quickly scheduled our appointments and a courtesy call to confirm the day before. We came in about 15 minutes early to fill out the initial paperwork since we are currently sans printer (you can print the forms online and save yourself some time.) There are TONS of toys, books and things to play with, not to mention a little fort/castle for them to crawl through. My kids were thrilled to be there. Their appointments were on time and we were greeted by two, smiling dental hygienists. We were taken back to a large, open room with about 5 dental stations and lots of bright, fun murals, stuffed animals hanging from the equipment, and overall just a cheerful vibe. Kids got sunglasses to put on, which they loved, and they were eager to hop up on the table to see what was next. The room also has t.v.'s above each station and they can wear headphones to listen to whatever kids movie happens to be playing. There are also other lit up photos on the ceiling, again, adding to the cheerfulness. The hygienists talked them through the whole process, letting them know what they were about to do, how it would feel (they would let them feel it on their fingers before putting it in their mouth) and were very playful with my kids. Tons of positive reinforcement and friendly suggestions to me. The whole process was super fast and they enjoyed every step. Dr. Beck then came in, greeted the kids and myself and reviewed the findings. He made me aware of certain potential issues, and also gave me some friendly suggestions. I know I keep using the word "friendly" but he too, was extremely friendly and I never felt like anyone was being pushy. I was a little worried since I think, as a mom, you always know you could do better managing your kids brushing, etc. I walked in with some mommy guilt and walked out looking forward to trying out their tips. Once they were all finished up, kids were given a colorful pouch with a toothbrush, flossing picks, and toothpaste. They also got to choose a sticker (they obviously know the way to my kids hearts) and each were given a token that they could redeem for a prize at the little machine by the front desk. They were absolutely THRILLED and thoroughly loved their experience. They liked it so much that not only did my daughter not want to leave (I practically had to bribe her to go) but they still ask me when can they go back and get excited when I tell them that we will indeed be going back "in 6 mos." Thank goodness toddlers can't grasp that timeframe or else they'd probably be crying. I'm so excited to have been recommended to Dr. Beck and his staff. Awesome, professional and friendly (there's that darn word again) people and I look forward to taking my kids back. read more

My son is 3.5 and this was his first visit. I've been dreading taking him to the dentist as he panics in unfamiliar situations and tantrums. This clinic is geared towards kids from top to bottom. The waiting room is full of all kinds of toys, and the staff visit with the kids while they are waiting and talk with them. There wasn't a very long wait before we were brought back to the examination room, which was awesome. TV screens on the ceilings, headphones for kids, toys and the staff are great. Dr. Beck took the time to explain how he would exam Oliver, and the techniques used for children his age and with his anxiety level. The Doctor is very nice and very approachable, he has a great vibe with kids. In fact, his own kids were wandering around the waiting room area talking with the patients. Dr. Beck was so good with our son that he was able to brush and floss his teeth with no issues. A treatment plan was drawn up and a very clear way ahead was explained to me. I left feeling great about my son getting treatment for his tooth issues. This is definitely our dental clinic. Totally recommend! read more

My three kids really enjoy going to this dentist. My first experience here was not good because the dental assistant refused to clean my three year old's teeth. The assistant asks the child if he or she would like their teeth cleaned that day and if the child shakes their head no then that is that. The assistant did not even to attempt to get my child comfortable first. She stopped with one simple question and left. And yes, I had to pay for a "cleaning" anyway. However, the next two times I went back were awesome. The office was friendly, they actually took the time to get my kids comfortable, they actually cleaned their teeth, and the kids loved the play area. The workers are who make a business, and I truly believe that your experience is determined by who you get. read more

We went for my 1 year old first dental appointment today and it went so well!!! We saw Dr Beck and he was wonderful took a minute to get to know our little a bit before checking out her teeth. Even though she wasn't a fan of him brushing her teeth which is very normal for her age he showed us a great way to get it done quick and easy and without her pushing us away with her hands. Love the waiting area it is done up so cute with lots of toys to play with and the appointment area is nice and open which is just great!!!! Definitely recommend this place. I have no complaints what so ever read more

Let me start out by saying that Dr. Beck is absolutely amazing. He is the reason why we keep bringing our kids back. This 3 star review is due to interactions with some of the office staff. I have experienced a few challenges with a couple of the front desk staff. Specifically, I have called to schedule ASAP appointments for one of my kids (he had two separate instances of complications related to the dental hardware placed by Fircrest Children's Dentistry through no fault of the doctor). The first time they said something to the effect that they only take care of routine issues. As a result, I had to go elsewhere to get the issue taken care of. The second time (and after much debate over the phone), they said they would make an exception for me and see my child even though they typically don't do this, especially with short notice. At another time, a front desk worker was rather reluctant to help me with some questions I had regarding my insurance and appointments for my kids (insurance will not cover some routine appointments if they are scheduled earlier than a particular approved window of time). I recommend Dr. Beck to everyone I know. Overall, I just wish that some of their staff were a bit more helpful in providing appropriate guidance. read more

Dr. Beck has been my kids' dentist for 6 years now, I think. He is amazing. The staff is amazing and they have a waiting room fulllll of toys and an arcade machine. My kids never complain about coming here. Ever, and my 10yo complains about going EVERYWHERE. ;) read more

Dr Beck is AMAZING! We've been to a couple other children's dentist's and literally NO ONE compares! Do yourself a favor and go see Dr Beck!

I love this dentist and my daughter has been coming here since she was very young the people are friendly and nice the reason I don't give them a full five stars is because some of the staff Shuffle their feet when they walk they drag their feet on the floor and with some of them the pants are so long they are actually walking on their pants and it is filthy. read more

Love Dr. Beck so much!! The office has a waiting room that fao shwartz would be jealous of. The ceiling has movie screens to watch while the child is getting worked on. The kids are put at such ease there is no anxiety AT ALL. This is the experience that all children need to avoid being an adult with no scary dentist issues. BEST CHILDREN'S DENTIST EVER! read more

I can't say enough good about this dentist! We were referred to a different child dentist and were told our 3 1/2 year old daughter needed 2 root canals and 4 fillings. I was a bit confused at the severity but kept thinking "surely they wouldn't suggest general anesthesia on a child unless it was severe!" We decided to get a 2nd opinion. THANKFULLY we found Dr. Beck and I'm happy to say our little girl does NOT need any major dental work. Dr. Beck was very friendly and clearly loves kids. We left after 1/2 hour with the worst of the cavities already filled and a follow up appointment. I could've hugged every member of their staff when I realized that the previous place had been dishonest and instead of just agreeing and making all that money them selves...they were honest! Whew. I will be recommending this practice to EVERY FRIEND I HAVE with children. Too bad I can't go their as a patient myself because I would! If you want a super friendly/kid loving dentist LOOK NO FURTHER! -This mama is all smiles (0: read more

I love it here!! I can't say enough good things about this place. The staff is always friendly and Dr.Beck is amazing. My daughter had to get a filling today she didn't even feel the numbing shot and the wonderful assistant painted her nails for her while she got her teeth worked on. We live 45 minutes away from the office and still get seen there because of how great the staff and Dr.Beck are. read more

If you live in Tacoma, Fircrest, Lakewood or UP and have a child 18 or younger, you should already know about Dr. Beck! he is the best! I am a mother of 3 and have over 9 years experience working in the dental field. My youngest child suffers from anxiety and I am not exaggerating when I tell you she BEGS to go to the dentist. Dr. Beck and his staff are patient, kind, gentle, fun, loving, professional and very knowledgeable. Dr. Beck is proactive and obviously enjoys his job. My friends and family laugh when they hear my daughter 10-year-old ask "When do I GET to go to the dentist again? I miss Dr. Beck!" Enough said.. You will NOT be disappointed! read more

Dr.Beck is an amazing dentist! He truly has a gift with kids. I am so thankful for having found him for my daughter. After going to 3 other dentists in the area none compared to the attention my daughter got here. No other dentist showed the compassion he showed for child and her situation. We will continue to bring our daughter. read more
