The Harbor Freight Tools on Northgate Blvd lacks a maintenance shopping center. The parking lot also has a few homeless walking around. I don't feel very safe to park my car there. However, the store inside is well maintained and organized. The good thing is all the items I'm looking for are in stock with a good price as always from any Harbor Freight Tools. 3/11/2021: Over the years, since moving to Sacramento/Placer/El Dorado Counties, I find myself gravitating more and more shopping at Harbor Freight's Stores for inane items I truly need due to the fact, the items I need are readily in stock or accessible whereas the Big Box Stores do not carry in their store inventory such as adjustable TV mounts, solar chargers, welding tools, welding tarps, hammers, chisels, moving camo blankets/camo tarps I purchased in Chico, moving dollies, etc.; you name the tool, I probably bought the tool at Harbor Freight! Regarding the TV mounts, I have purchased three TV mounts selling for $39.00 each via Auburn Boulevard Store, I bought a collapsible, steel rolling cart for $39.99 at Francisco San Rafael Store, a twenty-two lbs. hammer at the Sunnyvale Store, a plethora of tools/tool sets at the Rocklin Store, welding tools at Fairfield Store, purchased more tarps/bungee cords at the Vallejo Store, and as I mentioned before, I purchased at least, five camo blankets/tarps at the Chico Store; however, I must emphatically mention the fact, surprisingly and overall, the Northgate Store has more inventory than any other Harbor Freight Stores I have frequented where I discovered there are an assortment of moving dollies, moving blankets on sale, and tarps I purchased. I'll edit my Yelp review posting photos of my Harbor Freight receipts as soon as I dig them from my Homeowner's Insurance Receipt Box. read more

Harbor Freight is the place to go for tools and workshop needs! The prices are extremely fair and the quality of the equipment is on par with other big box stores for a fraction of the cost. This location is usually well-stocked and has most of the items we need on a regular basis. We've bought tool chests, standard tool kits, screwdrivers, drills, a power washer, paint brushes, saws (multiple varieties), mounts and tables for saws, shovels/gardening equipment, and other assorted odds and ends here over the past several years and all work exceptionally well. It's to the point where we'll only buy something at Lowe's or Home Depot if we are certain HF won't have it (ex. paint or lumber). Somehow we've managed to get away with owning a home and not having any tools (with the exception of screwdrivers) for 5 years until now. A few weeks ago we needed to get tools to change my car battery, fix a closet door and some window blinds. Initially we went to Home Depot and bought some parts and tools. It wasn't until we got home when I remembered seeing an ad for a socket wrench set at Harbor Freight Tools. Since we bought the standard set and needed metric, we decided to return the set to Home Depot and go check out Harbor Freight. Harbor Freight is a small tool and hardware store. They kind of remind me of an ACE Hardware. We went in with our coupon and picked up a socket wrench set with twice the pieces including both standard and metric for the same price we paid for the other set at Home Depot. We also got a small screwdriver set for tightening glasses and other electronics. There happen to be a coupon for 20% off and a free flashlight with purchase. The cashier honored both coupons. Depending on what you're fixing and the quality of tools needed I would come here before home depot. Also if your are looking to build your tool set they often have coupons for a free item or free item with purchase. I'm sure as things come up we will visit Harbor Freight again. We still need to go in for our free measuring tape, multipurpose scissors and screwdrivers. Coupons are available by mail and online. read more

This place is your one stop shop Ace Hardware store but with incredibly low prices. On top of that, you can always find their 20% off coupons in your local ads or junk mail. Just keep in mind, you pay for what get. This location has a very friendly staff and great customer service. Hours of operation is great and tons of parking in the parking lot. It is located in the ghetto but it's still a safe place to shop. So no need to bring the bulletproof vest and keep the knives at home. Speaking if knifes, they do sell 18" machetes for $9.99. Been coming here for quite a few years. I have never since the height of the pandemic been asked to wear a mask inside the store. But now all of a sudden the young person at the counter says they are required. As a business owner consistency means a lot. Hours Posted are 8 am to 6 pm. NOT! Was told by the guard at the door they were closed. It was 5:40pm. He said that they close doors at 5:40 pm and the store at 6 pm. The should also posted that on the door and in all the junk mail publications they send out. Hours posted on Website are posted as 8 am to 6 pm. They really need to let the public know that if you show upon at 5:40 pm you can not come into the store. Or either change their manager, and security guard service. First time visiting this location. I give 5 stars to Dave for being helpful when looking for product. But for the cashier, was indifferent and rude when ringing me up and damaged the sharpening stone I bought by carelessly dropping it on the counter when bagging my purchase. Was friendly to the previous customer, but not friendly and had to say "thank you" at the end of the purchase to even acknowledge. The sharpening stone now has a cracked corner, but it's only $2.99 and is too much of a hassle to replace. read more

I asked for a simple screw very nicely when I walked in and there were two young ladies working at the front . One of them said I can help u after this customer so just wait in an angry tone even the customer looked at me. The other girl interrupted her and said I guess I can help? I told her what I needed and showed her but she said oh well this is all we have. And walked away. She didn't even stay to help to find the screw. I stood there measuring and she came back and I asked her if there was any other places I can find these screws. I love this place because it had all kinds of cool tools and gadgets at a really low price. It's not the highest quality merchandise but I just keep reminding myself that it's really cheap and that if it works the one time that I need it, I'm good! The cashier must have been new cause he was nice but didn't seem to really have it together. He overcharged me a buck or 2 but I'm ok with that. This was my first visit to this store. I purchased a can of WD-40 for nearly $9.00. My impression based on my own purchase and the 10 minutes I browsed the store is that the prices are too high, and the return policy is very limited. Given the quality and prices of items, customers would be best served buying Craftsmen Brand at Sears or Kmart. During my visit there were only two check stands open, and about 20 customers in line. So, in my opinion the wait was excessively long and painful. The upside of this store is the parking lot has plenty of spaces, so finding parking is not a challenge. read more

The sales manager Dave is always real good person to help you. Went today asked head manager where the free tool bag was with A 25.00 purchase was with a coupon . It was the May 1st coupon. He didn't have any idea about it. A manager that doesn't know. I was planning on buying tools and getting a free tool bag. Thought well he could have found out it was in the flyer. Found a coupon in my monthly advertisement mailers for a rolling floor jack. I get their ads in the mail but they also have them on their website. Great deals at this place if you have some patience to watch ads. I needed some other items too so I headed out to Harbor Freight. I've never been in one of their stores before. First impression walking in: Well lit, very bright lighting. Signage on each aisle was very clear. I stood inside the door for about 7 seconds before I spotted the aisle I needed. Super easy to find the set of sockets I wanted. The aisles can be a bit tight especially if you're using a cart, but everyone in there was friendly and we were able to maneuver around each other without any issues. I went in for a socket set or two, and the aforementioned 3 ton rolling floor jack. The jack was already on sale, so I wasn't sure they'd take my coupon. But, they took it and honored the price! Even when the coupon wouldn't scan (badly printed ad), the cashier called someone over to adjust the price and that was handled within seconds. The socket set was easy to find, they had plenty of clearly labeled options. Found a nice low-end set with 3/8, 1/4, and 1/2 drivers and sockets (combo of SAE and metric) in a storage case for about 15 dollars, plus picked up a set of deep wall 1/2" metrics on sale for about 12 dollars. I found everything I needed quickly, and had no issues bringing my items to the front and paying. Only one cashier but the line moved quickly. I will be back to this store for tools when I need them. read more

Griselda among other cashiers are rude, inconsiderate, and hate their job. Tom the manager is no better. We asked him a question and was "shooed" in the general direction "if they have it". Tried to complain about Griselda being mouthy and he came up and walked away cause we sd "she needs to change het f*n attitude". This is not the first incident as they have cashiers just as bad if not worse. Griselda also made a point to mutter "some people need to read better" when I questioned coupon policy... They tend to change policy every time we are there. This place is not worth my money and I will stop shopping at HF or find a location that cares about customers. Just visited store 00383 the cashier Griselda was rude and unprofessional and said that we need to learn to read when we complained about her attitude. The manager Tom walked away from us when we brought her attitude to his attention. This horrible service is on par for this store for every visit over the past year. The management and employees need to be retrained in customer service, or they will loose a lot of customers. Saving a few dollars is not worth being treated like garbage by some kid at their first job, or a manager who cant manage. I purchased a automotive jack about a year and a half ago and something happened to it that even the manager couldn't seem to fix or know what happened and they let me exchange it for a new one (with the purchase of an extended warranty) which I was okay with since the jack cost over $100. THIS PLACE IS RANK. Came Saturday June 7 with my receipt to return a 100 watt solar charge regulator. Package was completely undisturbed, never opened but I was refused a refund as well as being refused store credit. After the cashier said no I asked for the manager and the manager said they can't do anything because it's supposedly not in their system after 90 days. The problem is my package got stashed away in a cupboard at home and that's why it wasn't returned earlier. I have been here before, tools don't last and unless you buy the pricey added warranty (which defeats the entire savings and reason for coming here in the first place) you are SOL when they break. I don't think anybody working here has more than an eighth grade education and I'm not coming back to this sheit hole again. You really do get what you what you pay for. All this garbage comes from China anyway so by American and avoid this like the plague. read more

Everyone knows the quality of Harbor tools- Harbor Breaks. Harbor Freight pulled the old school fast one on me. Their add drew me in for sale on a chipper/shredder. Go into 3 stores in search of said chipper shredder only to find out tool is discontinued and ads are done 6m in advance. Like any consumer, that's not my problem your error, and if you list an item for sale you must still honor that price. They did not and instead told me I had to purchase upgraded model for more $$$. I would never step into the hood northgate store unless you need a cheap tool that won't last 6mo. They have a lot of things in this store. I had went in too purchase a Winch for my dad for Father's Day. And all the workers just seemed so down and out and so rude as if they hated there jobs or something. I had too ask for help from a worker, that didn't really give two craps about helping me out. So I pretty much had too look for the Winch myself.. took me a good while before I could find it. So when I found it, I had put in the basket, and I get up too the register too pay for it, and I couldn't even use the coupon that I had for it. I wasn't ringing up the coupon for some reason.. It's not the cashiers fault that people can't read the small print everywhere you go (phone contracts,signing up for something new) etc. all have small print. Cashiers have a person higher than them that they go to you have to and follow what they say. give them credit, it's a daily thing for them it's not a excuse to not be friendly, but cut them some slack they get customers in there face not just once a day they are just following the rules! i dont usually give a bad review unless i really have a bad experience at the place. I come to this harbor frieght all the time and never had a bad experience, up until now. when i arrived it seems a bit busy but maybe only bc there was only one cashier. when i got all my stuff ready at the cash register, i used my coupon and i wanted to get the free item which is a flashlight headwear. and the cashier which was a younger fat kid with an think-hes-the-owner attitude told me he cant give it to me bc i have to bring my own headband. tat already got me heated so i told him ill jus go with the free blue 7ft plastic sheet cover. The fat kid made me paid first then tells me to go get the free plastic sheet myself(ive never had anyone done that, usually they go grab it for me or walked me to get it) after going to the very back of the building i grab one bag of ny free sheet and hurried back to the front only to have the fat kid told me i cant leave with it until he scans the item. so i handed it to him but he now tells me i gatta go to the back of the line. Now wtf!? you shouldve scan the item altogether with my stuff all at once you stupid prick! having enough of his lame horrible customer service BS i toss the bag in the middle of the store and jus walked out.. never setting foot in there again. read more
