This is honestly the best Harbor Freight in the Valley. They are fast when not helping braindead customers. The store is often well maintained. They often have promotional coupons at the ready, at the register during parking lot sales. The Burbank location is always trying to nickel and dime and scam their customers. Their 2 associates were female and helped me load a motorcycle lift. Reminded me of that "Anything you can do, I can do better." commercial. Awesome staff! I return, wait as they "review" video and I am told they are right (wow) and I did take charger. Why would I lie? The customer service at this location definitely needs to improve. There is no one really on the floor that wants to help and the girl assistant manager with glasses doesn't really want to help the customers. I couldn't return 3 small items that were never opened while I had the receipt in my hand. Well again, with another disappointment, I shop at Harbor freight frequently for the past let's say 15 years in North Hollywood, so I've given them quite a bit of my business. I also shop at the Sepulveda store but North Hollywood is convenient because it's next-door to me , I purchased some thing that did not fit my grinder went back without a receipt. Supposedly they could not find it. They called the supposed called Manager named Blanca the bully of Harbor freight. She came out with an attitude to tell me she will not honor my $10 exchange for a $35 purchase associate told me go to A different store managers there are a little more lenient, so I Asked the Manager you want me to drive to Sepulveda store and you're not willing to honor the same thing at your store when I purchased it here her answer was no! She bothered me so bad , and got under my skin with her attitude that I gave her a few choice words . I went to my car I had purchased $150 sandblaster so I decided I no longer want to do business with these people, so I said Take back your product I don't want your items she said I will not honor your return you need to leave. This is the kind of service you get from a youngster with a power trip ! As a business owner, I will be ashamed to have these people working for me, So North Hollywood store unless I get a call from district office, I will not be doing any more business there! In the middle of a job our cordless hammer drill went out so needed a new one. I called the North Hollywood location and the sales person (I think his name was Jose) told me that he showed one in their system. I asked him to hold it for me and he said yes so I gave him my name to hold it. A few minutes later I got a call on my phone and it was actually him letting me know that when he went to grab it off the shelf, it was actually an incomplete item and was missing some of the components. What I appreciate the most is that he actually went through the trouble of tracking down my phone number from their caller ID, because I only gave him my name and not my number when I spoke with him. And then called me to let me know so that I didn't waste a drive over there. That's exactly the type of customer service that should be the "normal" and not a special circumstance, great job management in creating the business culture for employees to go a little bit further for the customer service. read more

The manager here sucks and is sexist. I had an interview not so long ago. Everything was going smoothly until I brought up that I go to school and have a baby. I'm always impressed by the staff at this store. They are always helpful and friendly. The store is well stocked and I appreciate that they are taking the Covid crisis seriously - everyone has masks and there is someone at the door making sure the customers do to. I recently ordered two, large, heavy cabinets and they arrived at the store earlier than I expected. They very graciously held them for me till I was able to pick them up. Harbor Freight tools are, well, Harbor Freight tools so I'm not going to review them. Besides, tool quality should be posted on the corporate page (is there one?) and not the individual store. This review has to do with the terrible service I received. My first mistake was going to the Lankershim store with a gift card. The cashier didn't know what to do, fumbled around, said it came up $0, and then claimed I had to contact corporate. Now bear in mind, this was a corporate gift card sent to me as settlement for a major lawsuit they lost regarding fraudulent pricing practices. I ended up paying cash for my items because I needed them and didn't want to make a long trip back. Once home I jumped online and found that the card was fully funded. A few weeks later I returned to buy some more tools but had them check the card before shopping. Everything checked out so I picked up the items I needed and cashed out the card. It wasn't until I got home that I discovered that the cashier had cheated me out of $8. I was suppose to get the coupon price on two identical items (it was a limit of 2) and a 20% discount on a non-coupon item. Instead, she applied the 20% discount to the full price of one of the coupon items (thus cheating me out of discount on the non-coupon item). I sent off a complaint to corporate explaining what happened and they just washed their hands of it. They said the corporate complaint line is for filling complaints about their website only. Any problem with billing has to be taken up with the store. So now they expect me to get in my car and drive across town to resolve an $8 issue that they created. Great move, HF, make the customer jump through hoops to resolve an issue you and your employee created. Maybe it's time for another lawsuit. read more

This is a clean and well kept store. Say what you wish about the tool quality but I am a fan of HFT because their stuff is good enough to get the job done. Parking is ample. My only critique is they need to have more checkout registers open. The people are friendly and you can tell they went through some customer service training because they recite little customer oriented phrases when you enter and when you leave. They have everything from large tools, All the way down to the smallest screwdriver, and usually for a fraction of the price of a Home Depot type store. Look for their parking lot sales, there is one this coming weekend, for some very good deals. You can apply to get on their mailing list to receive coupons and notices of even deeper discounts. I like Harbor Freight, the one star is because of the following experience. Their basic hand tools suck....total waste of money regardless of how cheap they are. However, their bigger tools I would buy. They also have things, as in a wood floor nailer...which Hime Depot & Lowe's do not have. I went to the Store on Lankershim, the staff does not know their inventory, or what the blades, bits, etc their tools use. The employees didn't know where or what the blade I needed was. Unable to help the employees just walked away and did something else. When I tracked the employee down and ask "Are you done helping me?" They said they would call someone.....that never happened. I found another employee who knew the store slightly better. Maybe some classes on inventory, what tools and replaceable parts go together. And most of all How To Deal With A Customer. Mixed Review. Harbor Freight Tools is great for merchandise and lousy for customer service by Fat Chicks. Keep in mind these power tools are cheap, but won't last long in heavy use. The power tools have lower end parts and motors. The "Duty Cycle" which is the on versus off time is greatly reduced. Don't use these tools in construction without an exchange warranty. The bottom line is that the tools will work if you baby them. Check them often for overheating during use. Don't use heavy loading or you will see smoke. The store is great for cheap disposable products like bungees, tarps, flashlights, which are sometimes even free on a "super sale". Some items are very tempting like sandpaper and rechargeable batteries. This is crap, leave it. Use judgement. The game here is compromise. You are paying much less for everything that you will be replacing much sooner. Don't complain if it breaks in two years. I could complain about the customer service, but what do you expect. This is the "McDonald's" of hardware stores. Of course the employees are ignorant. And FAT. What I hate the most is the dialog at the cash register. Each customer gets pitched when checking out. This place is awesome if you need tools for a one time job and don't want to break the bank. I recently did some major suspension work on my diesel truck and I was able to get all of the tools I needed here for dirt cheap. The jack stands, impact sockets, torque wrench, and impact wrench held up just fine on my 3/4 ton truck. SIgn up for the mailing list.
