He even said I can bring back the cap that didn't end up working. My dad and I really appreciated the help and free advice. The water line is now capped with no leaks and ready for my old fridge to be pulled out.

Parts stores can sometimes feel intimidating, especially when the staff acts like they're too cool or too busy to help. That has never been my experience at this O'Reilly.
