Soon as i walk in the door the kid tells me i need to leave my purse up front. Why would i do…read morethat? Was this kid carolson accusing me of being a thief? I work a full time job and have bought everything i own . Im appauld that this is ok. Im half spanish so my skin color is slightly brown. Is this why i was asked to leave my purse? It was a mediom size purse but regaurdless of the size is it really necassary to lose good buisness by trying to make someone leave there purse at the front of the store? What a humiliating experience.

I purchased a new Weber grill for the Mathews Mint Hill Ace Hardware store around 6/30. I wanted…read morethe grill for July 4th. I paid for them to bring the grill to my house. They did however after using 1x I noticed the temperature gauge didn't work. I called and the store mgr. said he would order one. After a week I didn't hear anything so I called and the mgr. said he wasn't sure when the new gauge would arrive. Really??? I said that since the grill was less than 30 days old he needed to either replace the gauge or come pick up the grill and I will go somewhere else. He found a gauge in the store however expected me to come pick it up and replace and return the old one. That's awesome service. I said no of course and they replaced it. About 3 weeks later I needed a new lawn mower. I gave Ace another chance because I wanted a Toro. I used 3x and it's leaking oil. Once again, the NOT HELPFUL manager said I would have to take it some where because they weren't licensed to work on Toros (EVEN THOUGH THEY SELL THEM) Now I have to take time out of my day to take this mower to somewhere that can fix it. NEVER NEVER NEVER buy anything from ACE. Not the helpful hardware man.

The worst hardware/home store I've ever shopped in! NOT because of their merchandise -- they have…read moreTERRIFIC stuff, it's packed with super good merchandise. BUT, their gimmick "11%" rebate is a total JOKE! They suck you in thinking you'll be saving money. But, I spent nearly $1,000 here on three visits and never got a nickel back! They give you a form on your way out of the store, asking you to fill it out, document your purchases, answer a bunch of questions, and mail it in (with your own stamp) to see if you "qualify" for the 11% rebate on any of your purchases. If you do, they'll supposedly send you a check two months later! Filling out the form and putting all the info together is WORSE than filing your taxes with the IRS! Seriously, Menard's 11% discount program is a total joke, possibly bordering on fraud. Bottom line -- if you don't fill out their forms correctly, you end up spending MORE on merchandise that you can get at other stores, or on Amazon, with instant discounts. Just give me even 5% at checkout and I'd be happier than getting NOTHING trying to fill out all their stupid forms, mailing them in and waiting forever to hopefully get some money back. With Home Depot, Walmart and Lowe's nearby, who all offer instant markdowns and savings, plus many online options, there is no need to waste your time or money at Menard's. They'll never see another penny from me again!

Normally I enjoy a good trip to the depot, but this time not so much. I was on a weird mission…read moretoday for a laser level that needed to show up on a dark surface. I asked a gentleman named Andrew for some advice as I don't necessarily know what I'm looking for. I wanted something stronger than the previous laser level I had. And I asked about one that was $149. He said it should work for what I was looking for. I wanted to read the box to determine but since it was a locked up item I had to first purchase it. I decided (poorly) to purchase a cheaper one. Well since I purchased it, I decided to open it and test it out. Turns out it was not going to work for what I needed it for. So I returned it. The lady at the returns desk was semi understanding the first time. Than I decided (poorly again) to purchase the more expensive one in hopes it would work better. Well it did not. So I decided to purchase the original one I should've just went with the first time. But the entire time, every employee(the self checkout, the customer service desk etc) werel staring us down, making sure we weren't stealing (items we had paid for let me remind you) and hassled my husband during the return. I understand they were doing their jobs but why would I purchase and continue to purchase an item to try it out to see if it was what I needed it for and how it would work just to "steal it"? Being treated like a criminal when you are being upfront and honest with the employees isn't a great feeling. We didn't do anything wrong, you had no reason to ask which door we came in, where we parked or what we were driving. When all we were trying to do was purchase a laser level that we couldn't test without purchasing and instead of dragging our cranky toddler to and from the store three times, we just tried it out in the parking lot. My apologies for the long review but the whole story was needed to explain that employees staring down, making phone calls to the other side of the store, and asking those types of questions isn't necessary when someone is trying to navigate something they aren't familiar with. What's the point of returns or accepting them if you are going to judge someone for buying a similar item because the one they first purchased didn't work? Also might I add if I was going to steal why would I show up with a very noticeable feature, (ie my hair is neon orange) Not everyone is a criminal.
