Awesome people. The virus has kind of shaken things up, before the staff was very happy, smiling…read moreand seem to enjoy working at their store. I think that spirit is getting them through. Not the most Choice of clienteles shop at Menards. These particular customer's are ravaging the store during a health restrictions. Tripling the essential workers burden. It's super sad, I only go there when I absolutely have to. I used to go there 2-3 times a week.

Love Menards and their deals…read more Christiana at the front desk (blonde/middle aged woman) had a foul attitude and found humor in the loss of thousands of dollars of plant life in the woefully neglected garden center. No intention of speaking with management. Joked about them being over watered. Cold snaps, whichever way they put it- the garden center is abysmal. It's beyond depressing. Other shoppers spent more time remarking on the death counts of plants instead of shopping for them. Crispy ferns. Dead monstera. Fruit trees dead in their planters and wilting. Corporate needs to know that they are bleeding money by not taking care of their products, and it's a shame because the selection would be nice if they would just... water them. Not laugh and tug themselves around when they could just simply hook up the hoses and give 10% effort. Idk if they are short staffed or what, but even the garden center manager is "aware" of the issues and each time we've gone in (3-4 times this month and a half for home projects) the situation is getting worse and worse. They just let the trucks dump the plants off and leave them to die. Why take care of something and give customers something of value when they could just hope someone can save one off the truck before it winds up at the morgue for plants. Look at the photos. Tells you a lot. And again- talked to staff. They even find it funny. They don't care. Just- tremendous waste of life. Both with speaking with the care desk and with how they handle plant life.

Normally I enjoy a good trip to the depot, but this time not so much. I was on a weird mission…read moretoday for a laser level that needed to show up on a dark surface. I asked a gentleman named Andrew for some advice as I don't necessarily know what I'm looking for. I wanted something stronger than the previous laser level I had. And I asked about one that was $149. He said it should work for what I was looking for. I wanted to read the box to determine but since it was a locked up item I had to first purchase it. I decided (poorly) to purchase a cheaper one. Well since I purchased it, I decided to open it and test it out. Turns out it was not going to work for what I needed it for. So I returned it. The lady at the returns desk was semi understanding the first time. Than I decided (poorly again) to purchase the more expensive one in hopes it would work better. Well it did not. So I decided to purchase the original one I should've just went with the first time. But the entire time, every employee(the self checkout, the customer service desk etc) werel staring us down, making sure we weren't stealing (items we had paid for let me remind you) and hassled my husband during the return. I understand they were doing their jobs but why would I purchase and continue to purchase an item to try it out to see if it was what I needed it for and how it would work just to "steal it"? Being treated like a criminal when you are being upfront and honest with the employees isn't a great feeling. We didn't do anything wrong, you had no reason to ask which door we came in, where we parked or what we were driving. When all we were trying to do was purchase a laser level that we couldn't test without purchasing and instead of dragging our cranky toddler to and from the store three times, we just tried it out in the parking lot. My apologies for the long review but the whole story was needed to explain that employees staring down, making phone calls to the other side of the store, and asking those types of questions isn't necessary when someone is trying to navigate something they aren't familiar with. What's the point of returns or accepting them if you are going to judge someone for buying a similar item because the one they first purchased didn't work? Also might I add if I was going to steal why would I show up with a very noticeable feature, (ie my hair is neon orange) Not everyone is a criminal.
