Made a stop at one of our favorite spots as we rotate dining areas and places. It was a beautiful day out and tables were available outside. The sun bright and warm as it slowly set in the west. Lucy was our waitress, relatively new; she was kind, polite and helpful. When she didn't know something she had it checked out. We ordered a few drinks; I ordered a side salad with balsamic dressing ( good taste). For entrees we had the vodka plate, with slaw and sidewinder fries. The sidewinders are always good, especially fresh. I had the wings with side voo-doo sauce. She Mentioned it had a bit of a kick to it. The fish, slaw and fries were all good. My wings were good tasting and nice portion. The voo doo sauce was just right for me; hot, but not that hot it took the taste away. We struck up a conversation with a stranger from Nashville who was here for work. It's nice that people can be outgoing and have a nice side conversation Nice day, nice restaurant, good food, staff and a new acquaintance; doesn't get much better. read more

I had a very good experience at harbor & hope. Service was good, food was good, beer was good, and the vibe was nice. No "wow" factor, but a solid restaurant. I got the chicken tender entree, and it was very delicious. Nice breading on the tenders, although they were a little bit dry. The green beans were good, and the homemade fries were good too. The beer flight was a super cool option - especially because they have so many beers and ciders on draft! They have a great selection, it was fun to try all of them. I was there last Monday with a group of 5 friends for dinner. The waitress (Brittany) was super attentive and professional. The atmosphere was very pleasant. Not so noisy that we couldn't hear one another. It was my understanding that the huge photos on the walls are taken by the owners husband (Greg). Check them out. They are also VERY dog friendly! The Nachos/dip and Brussel Sprouts were delicious. I want to try their Fried Pickles next time. My barbecued beef tips were great as well. As were the onion rings. I definitely think it's overpriced for what you get. $20 for a regular sized pulled pork sandwich with chips and Cole slaw?. Sure the sauce was good but to switch out the sides for another is an additional $4? No thank you. Service was nice, I enjoy there being a take out option but you do have to call it in. They fixed it pretty fast. Hummus - not as creamy as I'm used to but the flavor was awesome. They added some sort of extra spice (maybe paprika) and the little bit of smoky spiciness made it so good. And the bread that came with it was so good. Blackened cod was cooked okay. I liked it with the garlic bread it came with, because it was a bit too salty. I was in town for work, and decided to give this place a try. I was NOT disappointed. My server, Caitlyn, was very tentative and responsive! I asked what they were known for, to which she replied their fish & chips. I decided to take her recommendation and ordered fish & chips. It was delicious! The coleslaw was creamy and on the sweeter side, which I like. The fries were a mix between potato wedges and curly fries - i'd never seen that kind before but they were very good! I had the voodoo sauce for my fries, the sauce was very tasty and not too spicy. The fish was very good! It tasted fresh and the batter was crispy and delicious. Last, but CERTAINLY not least, the beer selection - WOW! What an awesome tap list! AND, they had the description of each beer! I had 3 different beers and all tasted delicious, like they take care of their tap equipment. Overall, it was the best part about traveling for work. Stopped in with my son-in-law for a couple beers and a bite. I'll start with a couple minor complaints that are pretty inconsequential. First they advertise 100 taps. The beer list we were handed had 70 beers listed and even at that a couple beers we tried to order off the current list were out. Also when our food was delivered to our table, we weren't given any napkins or silverware, nor did we have ant ketchup for fries. The server dropped off the plates, turned and scurried off. Luckily we were sitting in the bar area so I was able to wave down a server. OK, now the good. They do have an extensive beer list. Even though beers we ordered were out, after looking over the menu we were able to find something as a second choice. Next, Tuesday's food special is $3 street tacos. I ordered one chicken taco and one carnitas taco. IMO the carnitas was definitely the better Taco. The chicken was extremely dry, but for $3 I'm not really complaining. Both tacos had very generous amounts of toppings. The toppings consisted of shredded lettuce, diced jalapenos and sour cream. Very well worth the $3 each. My son-in-law had the All American burger ($12.25) which came with fries. He said he thought it was pretty good. Full disclosure, Harbor and Hops is already one of my son-in-law's favorite places to get a beer or two. read more

Harbor & Hops is a quintessential "good, four stars" spot. Everything that they do is competent, above average, and enjoyable. The drink menu is expansive with a looooong wall of taps that line up with the three pages (front and back) of beers and ciders available. All are available in various sizes from samplers to pitchers (depending on the selection). The food was equally good with several appetizing choices of pub grub. Service was friendly and prompt! Our 4-top in the bar area was visiting with just the right frequency and our glasses never dried out. Located right off of I-265, the location is convenient and easy to find in a quickly-growing commercial area that I'm sure is a hot stop on the way home for many of the warehouse and retail workers in the area. The bar area has flat screens spanning its length with mostly different sports. During our visit, the large garage doors were open to allow the pleasant spring weather in and gave us a great view of their patio. There's nothing particularly amazing about Harbor & Hops, but it was definitely a very good, comfortable place to enjoy an evening on the regular. read more

Seriously, whoever designed the roads over there in Indiana must've been high, it's Indiana not London honey. But to the real star. Harbor & Hops is amazing! The storefront is sorta rustic but industrial. The staff were all amazing, courteous, knowledgeable and the waiter was the coolest. Their selection of frosty beverages alone was worth the drive. We've passed Growler USA several times but recently decided to visit for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. It was earlier enough in the day that we'd miss the dinner crowd and late enough that I could have a beer or two without someone calling me out as day drinking. It's pretty new place and it's still shiny and clean. It's a bit off the beaten path, but definitely worth seeking out. We were seated as soon as we walked in (tall tables...it's what we like) and were given a food menu and the very extensive beer menu. Their selection of beers is astronomical. Not the most I've seen in a place like this, but it makes a very respectable showing. The menu is very organized by type, making it easy to pinpoint what you want. Our server (whose name I don't recall) was pretty awesome, but admitted that beer wasn't her drink of choice and that she's more of a wine drinker. No matter, as long as we got good service that part wasn't important. I scanned the menu and elected to try a couple tasters. I also ordered the fish & chips. Since it's beer battered you'd think it'd be awesome. The beers I tasted were awesome (I don't remember specifically what they were), aside from a sour the made my eyes turn inside themselves. The fish and chips were rather...uneventful. I was expecting awesome, but what I ended up with seemed more like a corn-meal coated, barely adequate attempt a beer battered fish. The chips and coleslaw were good, which more-or-less saved the food part of this event. The staff was great and informative, helping make beer decisions that I would like, and the place is clean and shiny. I'll come back again when I'm in the area I plan to visit again. Their beer selection is pretty heft and the service is great. I have one major issue with Growler USA, which is going to take a star away, and that's the fact that you can't get a growler filled here. Nope. For some reason a business called Growler USA doesn't allow you to fill a growler. This doesn't make sense to me...at all. If that's the case it should be called "Drink Your Beer Here USA" or "Try A Beer But You Can't Take It Home USA". read more

Oof, I hate to leave negative reviews but man is this plate hit hit or miss, and unfortunately the misses were pretty big: the burgers seem to be frozen patties, gray and dry. Not handformed at all. Honestly Wendy's would be better, and I hate to say that. Now the fried pickle on the other hand were excellent! Good breading, spices, fresh... The brussels sprouts appetizer was decent as well, delicious bacon and mustard-based sauce. The Philly cheesesteak was subpar, the bread was bland and not fresh. We have a late lunch, early dinner here in Saturdays once or twice a month, and ask for bar seating. Have always been pleased with the food, as well as the service. This time was more than disappointing, no water, silverware, or menu. To make a long story short, all of the other staff waited on us. As well as brought the check and took our payment. The place is more about a relaxing evening with friends or family than a drinking place. They do have specials During the week. Including a wine day ‍. Samples of beer are free. The kitchen was fast the night we were there. Queso is delicious and the Philly cheesesteak tots are the bomb. I bet putting some queso on them would kick them up even more. I placed an order by phone for pickup. I was promptly greeted by a cheerful voice who took my order and said my order would be ready in 15 minutes. Sure enough, my order was waiting when I arrived. I ordered blackened cod with pilaf and green beans. My wife ordered the black bean patty with the same sides. Everything was still warm when I got home. The black bean patty, while not a pretty dish, was very tasty. The cod was perfectly cooked. I just didn't get much blackened flavor. And the pilaf was a bit bland. Still, for takeout, it was a good meal and a healthy alternative to fast food. And reasonably priced as an added bonus. read more

First visit but wouldn't go back. I was greeted immediately by a very friendly host and seated outside on the patio, which is very nice. Our server arrived promptly and took a drink and app order. We ordered the harbor dip platter, which was roughly $13. It came with a small amount of three different types of dips, all of which were very good, some tortilla chips and a few pieces of pita bread. The appetizer was the best part of the meal, because sadly, all four of our lunch entrées were extremely disappointing I ordered the El Diablo burger. Not only did it have no heat it also had zero flavor. This was literally one of the most disappointing burgers I have ever had. The rest of my group ordered the veggie tacos, the Carnitas burrito and the Mediterranean wrap. The veggie tacos looked to be possibly black beans, and maybe some cheese smashed together and smeared on the bottom of a tortilla. There was no shredded lettuce, pico, cilantro, etc. as mentioned in the menu, they looked absolutely horrible. Those were sent back and exchanged for a kale salad which taste it OK but she said she would never order again. The burrito was slightly better. The person who ordered this did pick out the pieces of meat and said she enjoyed those. However, she said the rice had a very sour and unappealing taste. The burrito was not covered in white queso as mentioned in the menu it arrive plain. The Mediterranean wrap came as described, but tasted very plain and bland. For one appetizer, two Ice-T's, and four entrées at lunch. Our bill was $80. You can get much better food at so many other places for less money. read more

I've been waiting to do this review of Growlers USA until I had all my bases covered. I got to Growlers about once a week. I've never had to wait and always had good service. This is one of the places I can go to with my vegan wife, and she gets something good -- usually the hummus and Sidewinder Fries. I also go there with my teen-aged son. They are family friendly, so no concerns there. He always orders Sunrise Burger. It's messy but very good. We also always order the pretzels, which are outstanding. They give me flashbacks to going to the mall in the 1970s. I still have many items to try, but I've been more than satisfied with what I have ordered. The fried pickles are delicious but greasy. The same goes with the tater tots. I don't know why restaurants insist on deep frying tots (other than speed). They are so much better -- and better for you -- when baked. If my middle school could bake hundreds of tots, a restaurant can, too. The Zippin' Brussels Spouts are very good and make a good side. The side salad is very, very basic and needs to include more dressing. The "True to the Blue" burger is only for those who really love blue cheese. It is very tart and tangy. The bacon was a little fatty. The On the Boarder Burger is a little deceptive. Until you pour the taco sauce over the burger, it's a "California" burger, since it has guacamole (remember, avocados = "California"). It really needs the taco sauce for flavor. The Bromance Burger is inspired, but incredibly difficult to eat. I have no tips on how to make eating it easier. The carnitas are great, as is the bear cheese. Watch for the fatty bacon again, unless you like that. Still need to try the Home-Sweet-Home, Shroomaster and BB-Que-B burgers. The Mediterranean Wrap is good but was sparse on the hummus and spiced chickpeas. The Chicken Avocado Club was excellent once the fatty bacon was "edited." The tacos might be next on my list of items to try. I have even had the Skillet Mac, with carnitas, of course. Very good. I would order it again, but it did become one-note after a while. Perhaps a smaller portion with a special side, like a small Buffalo Chicken Dip. The children's menu has the usual: grilled cheese, mini burger, chicken tenders, mac 'n cheese and cheese quesadillas. My daughter said the quesadillas were tasteless. I tried them, and they were OK for kids' quesadillas. The restaurant is clean and open. They have outside seating. The bar area is unobtrusive. The bathrooms are very clean but not as private as one would expect. When the door opens, you can see anyone in there. Do what you need to do fast! The beet selection is overwhelming. I'm not much of a beer drinker, but I have tried some. I did like one IPA I had and a cider. I can't remember the names because there are so many that a name can be confused or forgotten easily. I can say the cream ale they have was not good. I'm originally from Rochester, NY, and they love their cream ale there. The one at Growlers was very different and unpleasant. That's not Growlers or Rochester's fault. I will probably keep going to Growlers and refining my choices. Until then, I will enjoy trying the different items. read more

I drink a little beer, like my bourbon better. So if I was an avid beer drinker, I'd probably bump this place up a notch. But as it stands, the three is as high as I can go. Their beer selection was great. Tons of options, prices were good. The food. Well, the rumor of the kitchen being slow is true. I had a burger and it was not hot... a step below warm. But the flavor was good. I tried the Mac and cheese as a side and it was the consistency of a soup. The waitress was awesome and took care of it. She was terrific in overall service as well, even on a busy night. My wife had the BLT and said it was fine. All in all, I'd go back with some guys to watch some sports due to the nice TVs and beer selection, but the food wouldn't bring me back. My wife definitely wouldn't have a draw to go back. read more

First time there. Saw a post on Facebook about taco Tuesday. So why not. I tried the carnitas, chicken and veggie tacos $3 each on Tuesday. The carnitas was just okay. But the chicken taco was my favorite. The veggie taco was just a bean taco but it has so much flavor. The onions they have on the taco are either pickled or brined...but those set off the flavors. Also got the pasta jambalaya to go and the brussel sprouts. I'm having that for lunch tomorrow so I will let you know. My god-daughter ordered churro donuts with ice cream for dessert and loved it. Bryant our server was great and very helpful with these first timers. Margarita was tasty. Little too sweet but tasty. Definitely going back to try more food. Oh...they do have a crazy beer selection but we went there for tacos. If you want some specialty beers, this is the place to go and food if excellent! Lots of TV's at the bar. I've visited this establishment twice in the last week. Definitely a great place and will probably be one of my new regulars. First off, I'm not into beer at all. Yuck. I hate it. BUT, I actually tried a key lime flavored beer here and loved it. Maybe I've just been trying the wrong beers and it'll grow on me. I also had a margarita and it was the best margarita I've ever had. I do wish there was a larger selection for cocktails though. The two times I've been here I've tried two different burgers. I had the bourbon street burger which was great, bacon jam and cream cheese on a burger was a great move. I also tried the harbor master and holyyyyy meats. I've never been super into burgers with a ton of meats, I tried this one for the beer cheese, but the carnitas and bacon were delicious and added like a whole new dimension to the experience. I also really love their sidewinder fries, they're just cooked perfectly and taste great. For appetizers I've had their fried pickles and their hummus. Both are good, but the fried pickles are my favorite. The ambiance is pretty nice here. It's chill and relaxing, pretty casual. The service has been pretty good and servers can easily recommend drinks to pair with your meals. I hope to visit again soon! read more

I had been wanting to try Harbor & Hops for a while and I'm very glad I did! I started the meal off with a hard cider and some chips + queso. It was super good, and the waitress gave me a sample of one of her favorite ciders. For my meal I ordered Mac and cheese with grilled chicken! I added bbq sauce to it and that spiced it up nicely! Very cool sports bar and incredible tap selection with 100+ and constantly rotating, cant think of any other places in the Louisville Metro area that has that kind of selection. read more

The burgers were ok, but nothing to write home about. The fish and chicken were bland at best and overcooked to the point of being quite tough. Mixed drinks: Meh. Not my first time here. Even with the 3 score, we will be back. I have a feeling tonight was an off night. To start, the time to see a wait person was astonishing...but once we had her attention, she was awesome. We decided on craft cocktails, both of which we absolutely delicious. Oscar Bravo and Kafabe for the win. Both of them boozy, fruity, and make me eager for summer! The food came out in great time, we were told the dressings were homemade. This was definitely NOT true of the ranch, and I'm betting the blue cheese. However, regardless of who made the honey mustard, it was sweet with a kick and checked the box. We ordered one of the specials, boss hog platter- listed with grilled pork chops, cheese, mushrooms, onions with bourbon sauce/side of tots. Both pork chops were dreadfully over cooked, somehow the chef added peppers (which we would not have preferred), no onions. Super disappointed in the meat, but the tots were DELISH! My husband and I went to Harbor & Hops yesterday before we saw a movie at the nearby Xscape Theater. We only had 30 min and they served us fast and were very friendly. I was upset we couldn't stay longer because we were really enjoying the beer, food, and atmosphere. The queso is probably my new favorite, the hummus and veggies are simple but soo tasty! What originally drew me to Harbor & Hops was the beer selection, check them out on TapHunter but what keeps me coming back is their food and service. We recently visited Harbor & Hops to celebrate my son's birthday. We had a good size group and they accommodated our party while still following current guidelines which was appreciated. They have an extensive menu that has a little bit of everything, that provides enough options to meet the majority of patrons preferences. I decided on the El Diablo burger with a black bean patty instead of the burger. All of the flavors were great, just the right amount of heat with the peppers and very tasty guacamole. My son had the Rooster which is his favorite item on the menu, he highly recommends it. The servers are always quick and attentive. If you are looking for a great location to sample a variety of beers (approximately 100 taps) and enjoy great food, this is your spot! read more
