Ordered blueberry pancakes, eggs and bacon with coffee. The pancakes were good. Everything else was fairly standard. The wait staff was pleasant and fast. My only knock on the place is its cash only. I hate seeing okaces with an ATM in it too. Just kind of low class. Food was very affordable but as a business traveler paying with credit is a must. I guess the establishment doesn't want to deal with credit card fees but the option should be there with the fee passed to the customer. Business travelers won't mind. read more

Love this place! I've been coming here since 2004 and it is consistently tasty! They get insanely crowded on the weekends though so beware. Weekdays are not so bad though. I am satisfied with Harbaughs 2/3 of the time. On occasion I have had an awesome breakfast. Other times mediocre. For 2$ you can add ham or turkey to a sandwich. Don't bother. You will receive 2 paper thin slices of meat added. Almost laughable if you are not hungry. Stick with omelettes or skillets. Normally pretty good. This place was ok. The service was slow, and I feel like the tables are always sticky. I've been for both breakfast and lunch and I would recommend that you only come for breakfast and go elsewhere for lunch. The breakfast I had was standard (eggs, potatoes, etc.) Lunch was a disaster. I ordered the Earthquake SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE IT HAD AVOCADO. When the sandwich arrived it was missing the very important avocado. When I pointed this out to the waiter, he said they didn't have avocado at that time. This frustrated me for two reasons: a) WHY didn't he tell me that when I ordered the sandwich? and b) Without the avocado, the sandwich was really boring and plain. Just plain bread and cheese. Yawn... I was frustrated that the server didn't offer something else. My husband ordered some other sandwich that was equally bland and unexciting. Bottom line: skip the lunch here and stick to the breakfast menu. And don't ask for avocado. read more

Arrived to the restaurant at about 9:45 AM, with a party of 6 and 2 others were on there way. They have a rule where they don't seat parties until everyone is present. Waited 10 minutes to be seated, finally got seated with a waitress who acted like we were some sort of impedance to her. We order food and a coffee ( which was $2. 25). We wait and wait finally the food arrives at 10:55 AM. I go to eat my tomato and avocado omelet, and I have no silverware. I had to eat my omelet with a spoon because she never came back and asked how the food was. Another odd rule is that they refused to split the checks. Since all had to pool the money together in the middle of the table and have unnecessary counting and confusion. Also, they don't accept credit cards or debit cards, cash or check only. Poor service which deserved no tip but apparently they feel they deserve 18% gratuity. Went there once before, and this was my second trip. Will not be going again solely because of the disrespectful service and mediocre food. My omelet was okay, too much cheese is my only complaint. Seemed like it was thrown together hastily. read more

This is actually one of Carbondales best breakfast spots. The decor is fun and unique with lots of different art and collectables covering the walls. The service is also top notch and very welcoming. I would normally recommend this place to anyone especially if you are new to Carbondale. My only problem is lately the food was not on par. Maybe my wife and I were just unlucky and the cook was hungover or something. The last few times we received dry and nearly burnt potatoes that really irked my wife. Im gonna try it soon again. I've eaten here before and my family loves this place. Today, however, I went to pick up an order for my sister. There was a woman boxing my sister's food up, as she was grabbing the toast she grabbed it with her bare hands, I stated that I wanted more bread because she didn't have any gloves or tongs. She stated "just so you know, my hands were just in beach water" I said that's fine but, I want more toast. She then says, "so you want me to put gloves on, take this toast out, and put more in with gloves on? I told her she didn't have to use gloves to remove the toast but, yes to putting them on to get the new toast, she went to do just that. I was very shocked that she'd gotten an attitude just because I asked her to get more toast. I am not used to people touching food bare-handed. I also don't think she gave me fresh toast because when she went to put more toast in she turned so I couldn't see what she was doing. Needless to say, my sister never received that order of toast. Hopefully she won't continue to do that since I called her out. read more

They have some of the best breakfast I've had down in Carbondale, Dennys can't touch this place. They only take cash which is sometimes annoying. There is almost always a line with a wait but it is well worth it. Small place but very cool. I'm pretty sure every coffee mug is different also. Very unique place. Harbaugh's is a Carbondale classic! If you are in town for a visit, you must find time for Harbaugh's. The only downsides are a) that they only take cash and b) everyone else knows how good Harbaugh's is so it's perpetually crowded.
