Happy Wok is the hole in the wall of La Puente Chinese food. It's been around for years and the food is amazing!!!! The portions are very generous and they pack those to-go plates to the top!! I'm obsessed with the orange chicken and shrimp veggies. I've also used them for catering parties and the price is not bad for the portions sizes. I come here probably once a month... some months may be 2. Its usually crowded inside; tables full with people dining in and a long line to order but the line moves pretty fast. The combos are the most popular because you get the most bang for your buck (1 item, 2 items and 3 items). You can also get a la carte or party tray size servings but you need to order ahead for the party trays. Combos are choice of noodles or fried rice or you can do 1/2 and 1/2. I usually get all noodles with double orange chicken (its so good and still crunchy even though its coated in the orange chicken sauce) for 1 combo. The next combos are always all noodles with BBQ pork (very popular dish here), teriyaki chicken, beef with broccoli, green beans chicken. Then I'll get a la carte of the spicy crispy shrimp, egg rolls and crispy crab wonton. These are my go-to to dishes and i dont get all these at once. These are my personal go-to dishes. But honestly, whatever you choose, it'll be good. The turn around for food is quick with new fresh dishes coming out from the kitchen all the time. You can feed a family with the combo meals. Located on Hacienda Blvd & Glendora Ave in the Hacienda Plaza by CVS with plenty of parking. Growing up in LP, this was a favorite for our family when it came to Chinese food. We've been coming here since the 90's and still love it. Same great genuine service and yummy food. Portions are very generous and do not compare with any other place I've tried. My favorite entree here has been their BBQ Pork and Orange Chicken, but honestly, I've enjoyed all their entrees. They also have party trays available for events. I've been coming here since I was in high school in the 90's and it was one of my favorite spots to eat at forever. I don't know what changes they made, but over the last couple of years it's just not the same. The last dozen times I ate here their food gave me really bad diarrhea, and I really tried to convince myself that it wasn't their food. But whenever I talked about happy wok with numerous La Puente neighbors and locals I learned that I wasn't the only one this was happening to. I use to live across the street from here back in the early 90's and there was always a line then just like today the line goes out the door and for good reason. This place is nostalgic for me and they are consistent. I come for their BBQ pork! It is one of the best I've had. I live in Redlands now but I will come out here when I crave bbq pork! We used to go here like twenty years ago. About 10 years ago we stopped going because they went cash only and made it inconvenient. We decided to go back today because it was always some of the best Chinese Food. Well they are still cash only and the food is still really good. Love the bbq pork and tangerine chicken. It's a bit of a hole in the wall and although there are tables and chairs most people are there for takeout. There was a line out the door just like 10 years ago. The value for your food is incredible. A two item combo can feed two people and you get that for less than $12. They serve their food in the square styrofoam to go boxes but stuff them with food so they can barely close. Usually plenty of parking but depends on the time of day. If you don't mind the wait and the cash only this is a "Best Value" kind of restaurant, more fast food then restaurant but the prices based on food quantity is great and it's all very tasty. read more

Happy Wok came up as an option, so it was worth trying even though it was a decent drive from me. Ordered chow mein with orange chicken and broccoli beef. Thought the food here was more solid than spectacular. I've definitely had better at other Chinese fast food places, but for what it was I wasn't complaining at all. Even though the entire staff is Asian, this is not chinese food. It's three step below Panda Express. Let's just say that I'm giving this 3 stars for the customer service they provided. They hook you up on extra food, but t he food here was not good 1/5. By far the worst Chinese food I've ever had. Chow mein and fried rice was okay. The orange chicken tasted like over burnt breading with a light hint of orange sauce over it. Some pieces barely had any chicken on it. The pork ribs tasted bland, stay away from it.
