BEST PLACE IN TOWN!! GO GO GO. So helpful and kind. Was in a rush and they fixed my glasses in 5 minutes

I love Happy Valley Optical. They have a great selection of frames, service is fast & Doctor Dutt is amazing. While they are out of network for my insurance, their prices are more reasonable than using an in-network provider. read more

I had purchased a new pair of glasses online and came to Happy Valley Optical to get them tapered to my face. While a different optics store in state college had told me it would be 25$ with an appointment for another day, Happy Valley Optics saw me right away and did a skillful job. They not only shaped the ends but fixed the fit of the frame in less than 10 minutes. It was such a great experience! So appreciative! read more

Great business. I have very poor vision and need petite frames. They work with you to accommodate your needs from specialty lens to frames. One time the owner arranged for me to come to the shop when a frame rep was there to go through frames. Dr. Dutt has referred me for eye therapy and other eye specialist when necessary. Great customer service all around. read more

The employees here are so kind and create such an open and peaceful environment. I've had to get my frames adjusted twice due to utter clumsiness and they are quick and extremely affordable. Highly recommend! read more

I just love Happy Valley Optical! The staff and Dr. Dutt are experienced and friendly and will take the time to explain options to you. I've always felt that my family and I were well taken care of. As someone on a limited budget, the staff has been more than helpful in breaking down costs for me and never tries to hard sell bells and whistles I don't really need. read more

I would rate my overall experience as a 4.5/5. They have a solid line of services with knowledgeable professionals on duty. They are efficient with time and have reasonable customer service. I'm used to getting bargain deals at ForEyes, so most of their selection were too pricey for my taste. This was my first time buying glasses by myself, so naturally I was very inexperienced as a buyer. The mistake that I had made was that I did not ask for the price totals and ended up with an unpleasant surprise when I came to pick up my glasses. While living off of a limited budget determined by my parents, I had to get my money back. Even though the store policy was store credit only The store owner was compassionate enough to give me a full-refund. I would strongly recommend this store. read more

I have been going here for 3 years, and am increasingly impressed. Robin is meticulous on all fronts - very concerned with ongoing eye health and accurate prescriptions, and she is very attentive to what specifc needs you might have - sports, reading..... They have a very enticing collection of frames, but are not at all pushy with sales. They allowed me to use old frames without the slightest objection. I don't have kids but I imagine Robin would be especially good with kids - her manner is completely assuring. read more

Well, I haven't gone here as a patient (I'm a student and visit my optometrist back home), but I just stopped in because my glasses were crooked and driving me crazy. The woman (I'm guessing she's the optometrist too) was very nice and friendly and helped fix my crooked glasses right away so I thought I'd write a favorable review. read more

When I first went in to make an appointment for an eye exam, I explicitly told them the kind of insurance I have and asked if they covered it. They said yes so I proceeded with making an appointment. When I went in for the exam, they asked me to make payments that were much more expensive than what my former in-network provider would have cost, so I asked again thinking that perhaps that the policies have changed. The staff at Optical Valley reassured me that this was the amount of coverage that insurance allowed. I left feeling skeptical but paid nevertheless. I went home and looked through the policies and found out they actually charged me for out of network and I also found that they're actually not my in-network provider. I was upset that they told me they took my insurance when they were not my in-network provider. However, I I also felt partially responsible for this because I didn't look carefully for my in-network providers before I went. So I called Happy Valley Optical immediately to cancel my order. Few days later I still got a call saying that my contact lenses were in. I explained to them I had already canceled my order because they' don't actually take my insurance as an in-network provider, but they still insisted that they did. I had to go in and explain again to them what my insurance/status was. They finally let me get a refund but did not apologize for misinforming me. Instead, they gave me a lecture on how I had made them lose money because I canceled my order, even though I did call to cancel within a two hours of my fining out that they're not my in-network provider. Now, I am still dealing with insurance hassles and waiting to get only partially reimbursed. I never would have gone if I had known they didn't really take my insurance. I felt deceived and disappointed with the way they treated me for asking to cancel my order even when I did not argue with them about the hassle and money they had cost me for providing misinformation. read more

As a student, Happy Valley Optical is in a very convenient location on Allen Street across from the Library. The staff is very friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. The Doctor is so friendly and definitely knows what she is doing. They also have quite the selection of eyewear. As a contact lens wearer, their service is great. I can order a new box of contacts, and they will be in next day! Also they have great hours as well as some Saturday hours and I can always get an appointment right away. If your in need of a local Optometrist - this is the place to go! read more

This is a hip stylish place that gives undivided attention. The eye exam is fantastic and you deal with one person. The doctor. Not an assembly line with numerous people who line up with equipment. The glasses are stylish and Scott has great taste and will fit you in a pair of glasses that look great on your face! I have tried many but this is It!! read more

Friendly, good people here! Dr. Dutt is smart, patient and sensitive w patient needs. Great eye care. Scott keeps a nice selection of frames from the everyday to fashionable and trendy. High quality sunglasses. Family friendly! Gender neutral and child friendly bathroom. My family and I have gone here for years and like popping in just to say hi. They feature art and crafts from local artists in their windows (and that make great gifts). Fantastic local business. read more

I visited here to discuss about my damaged eyeglasses. While having a conversation with the staff, he begins to lazily massage my damaged eyeglasses, eventually shatters one of the lense, and then throws all the shattered pieces in a trashcan without my consent with an insincere and abrupt apology "oops sorry". He then (after the massage, shattering, and dumping the expensive pieces I originally intend to keep if he did not just dump them without my consent) tells me my prescription is expired and would have to pay $59 for the eye exam and $190 for the lenses. In the process, he calls a newbie employee and begins a lecture about the legal risk if they were to make me the lenses...in front of my face. During his lecture, I just sat there disturbed and wasting time. I walk out with lenseless eyeglasses. read more

I would recommend that you are aware of the policies and warranties of the products that you purchase from Happy Valley Optical. I was recommended certain lens that did not work for my eyes, then the lens were replaced with a cheaper pair, which they would not refund the difference in cost, which was a big difference. They are the professional in their industry and should take responsibility if they make a mistake with their recommendation and give the client customer satisfaction.... read more

Thanks Happy Valley for the emergency fix to my broken reading glasses. With a smile and a handshake! You're the best.

Dr. Dutt is absolutely outstanding. The service for contacts is also outstanding. However, do not buy glasses here. They nearly always come out with an issue (this happened to me 3 times). Once my glasses came out with the wrong prescription. Scott looked up the prescription and checked it with the glasses I got, then told me my new prescription (which was not new) gives you "a feeling like you got punched." I had to push forward to see Dr Dutt to get my issue resolved. Considering I have 2 other similar stories specific to buying glasses here, I would recommend buying elsewhere. But, Dr. Dutt is surely a 5 star optometrist. read more

Awesome place, they didn't accept my insurance but they helped fix my bent glasses frames for no charge! I really appreciate them!

Love it! Great styles - great customer service! I would definitely recommend for anybody that has to wear something ON THEIR FACE!
