This is not a place to take vacation. We stayed in an A frame "cabin" and quickly found the following things that made us want to get out of there.
The back door had a nylon rope tied to it for a handle.
Under the kitchen sink had what looked to be black mold growing.
The front door had a 2x2 gap that let in all kind of flies and mosquitoes.
One of the beds looked to have been in a flood or someone had urinated on it at some point.
A half full trash bag was hanging in the treetop above our "cabin".
It looked like nobody had cleaned the "cabin" in a long long time due to the dust hanging off the rafters.
I have included pictures of all of this.
For the door handle the woman on site that handles issues had the nylon rope replaced but that's something that should have been fixed months before anyone was staying in the "cabin".
We found out later that the owners had most likely sunk all their money into the new pool. The new pool was nice until evening when we found out there was zero light. I'm a fisherman so I thought why not check out the dock. The dock was very hard to fish with dozens of active wasp nests and hundreds of spider webs that looked to have been there for some time. There was also no way to clean fish as the fish cleaning station had no water to it and it was brown with something that had been dried on there for god knows how long.
$200 is a rip off for anywhere at Happy Valley Lodge. The pictures will look nice and the "cabins" will look roomy until you step foot in one after the owners have already gotten money out of you. Be warned, if there is any emergency or change in your plans, the owner will say that they will work with you and even "try" to rent your nights out but a little checking on my part found that they didn't put the dates back to available. I had to email/txt the owner and let them know. read more
