I wish I could give this organization zero stars, because unfortunately my experience as a foster…read morehas been very disappointing. I applied to become a foster and foster-to-adopt. From my experience, communication has been one of the most challenging aspects. Foster communication takes place primarily through a Facebook group/chat, and I found that some responses to questions or concerns were unnecessarily dismissive or discourteous. As a foster, I believe it is important to be able to ask questions and raise concerns without feeling uncomfortable doing so. One of my most concerning experiences involved being provided dog food that, according to the expiration date on the bag, was approximately 10 months past its expiration date. The bag appeared to have been opened and resealed with clear tape. When I expressed my concern about feeding it to my foster dogs, I was told that it was acceptable to use. I personally was not comfortable doing so, so I purchased food myself and returned the food that had been provided. I have also observed situations involving foster dogs with medical concerns where fosters appeared to have difficulty obtaining timely veterinary appointments. My understanding is that approval may be required before taking a foster dog to a veterinarian outside of the organization's designated veterinary provider. I found this process concerning, particularly when a dog may need prompt medical attention. Another concern I experienced was receiving veterinary-related guidance from individuals who, to my knowledge, were not veterinarians. In situations involving an animal's health, I believe fosters should have clear access to qualified veterinary professionals and should feel confident that medical concerns are being handled appropriately. I understand that rescue organizations have policies, limited resources, and procedures that fosters are expected to follow. However, fosters also have an important responsibility for the day-to-day care and well-being of the animals in their homes. Clear communication, respectful treatment, and timely access to appropriate veterinary care are extremely important. I am sharing this review based on my personal experience and what I personally observed as a foster. I encourage anyone considering fostering or adopting through this organization to ask questions about their communication procedures, food policies, veterinary protocols, and what support is available to fosters before making a commitment. Based on my experience, I would personally recommend researching other rescue organizations as well before deciding where to foster or adopt.

Instead of boarding them someplace where they'll be in crates most of the time except for an occasional walk (which you'll probably pay for), Pets Are Inn contracts with pet lovers who take your animals into their home while you away and treat them just like members of the family! We've used them 4 times now and have been lucky enough to get the same family each time (families develop relationships with the animals). The service will pick your animals up for you and drop them off (a great convenience when you're getting ready for a trip). My dogs practically jump out of their skins when the van pulls up because they are so excited to go stay with their "second family!" Upon return, we've always received a little note from the host family with an update about how the dogs did, etc. (They always got to sleep in the beds with the folks, etc.). And the best part? The price is comparable to that of a kennel, not crazy expensive as you might expect. We'll never board our dogs again. Thanks, Pets Are Inn!
