Another successful day care and grooming! Buddy was a rescue and other vets/grooming insisted on putty him to sleep for a haircut. Happy paws had a customer promotion on large bags of cat food. Buy the same size and brand and get a stamp, get ten stamps and you get a free bag of cat food. They changed ownership but said they would honor existing punch cards and kept stamping, thus maintaining business. Today with a couple more to go they took the card and said they were no longer honoring the promotion. At best inconsistent business practices, at worst manipulative. why go here with the plethora of other options in the area? read more

It saddens me that I have to write this but it was unacceptable. I've been taking my dog here for 10+ years and today I received my dog with a bloody paw. Whether his nails was cut too short or a slice cut in his paws, no one told me about it until I got in the car and realized my dog was bleeding. Christopher (the groomer), I've expected more professionalism from you. To Happy Paws who strive to make their clients happy, you failed today. To all clients using this service, please check your dogs before you leave the place. The panic of seeing your beloved dog in pain is something I wouldn't wish on no one. read more

I'm so happy to have found Happy Paws Pet Resort six months ago. Everyone on the staff has been patient, kind, friendly and professional. They have taken extra care building trust with my Pomchi, Emilio, who is fearful of people. When he recently lost his vision, his daycare counselors made sure he adjusted to his new reality. They treat him as if he is one of their own! Ashley, the assistant manager, is fantastic. She creates fun enrichment activities and events that are not only welcoming but also builds a community between clients and the Happy Paws team. I love receiving Emilio's report cards and photos shared after every visit! I highly recommend Happy Paws Pet Resort to anyone needing a place for daycare, boarding and grooming. read more

The white cashier thought I was stealing a treat because I was giving my dog the treats that were outside for free. Rude staff overall.

Objective Story: I brought our little dog to Happy Paws this afternoon. Our little guy was so nervous that he pooped in his carrier. I paid $122.00 for the grooming with a tip and they gave me a hard time about cleaning the poop. They said their policy is that it's "at their discretion." We are regular customers, been coming for years with two dogs. Finally, they agreed to rinse it off with no soap. A nice employee provided sanitary wipes and I wiped the feces that was left over myself. And the grooming was subpar compared to groomings there in the past. Maybe it's new management? That's our story. You decide what you would expect for your $122.00, lol read more

I took my dog to happy paws for a nail trim . Didn't notice he was bleeding til we got home so I called and complain , the lady in front desk told me it was normal . It's not my dog's first nail trim experience and I know for sure this was not normal ! I would be fine if they confess to me from the beginning and apologize but they didn't ! One of they nail looks like it's not even trim at all ! Didn't expect a professional groomer would make that happen , I could have done better than her . Never taking my dog there again ! read more

Not sure what has happened to this place. I have had my cat groomed with a lion cut here a few times and it came out great. Today, after providing a reference picture of my cat to the groomer and discussing it--he even asked me to text it to him--it came out totally botched. The mane was taken off entirely! I called to see what happened. The manager admitted that the cut didn't look at all like the reference picture but didn't offer any way to make it right, no refund or discount off future service - nothing. he said the service was done and it was just a matter of preference. He said he's gotten bad haircuts in the past and doesn't expect any discount or money back when that happens. I know mistakes happen, but there was no accountability whatsoever. You can look at the pics and be the judge. read more

Updated review- my last review was 3 years ago so I wanted to add that Victor the groomer at Happy Paws continues to beautiful groom our 5 year old Goldendoodle (Pooka) as well as our 10 year old Malti-poo (Pippa). Victor always asks what kind of cut we are looking for & he LISTENS! Both dogs leave looking like they are ready for a magazine fashion shoot! read more

I am willing to pay the tunnel toll to bring my dog here. That's how much I recommend this place to anyone who does not know where they can trust their dog to stay if needed. I've been coming to Happy Paws for years and highly recommend bringing in your dog to stay for boarding or daycare and also for grooming services. The front desk staff is always so friendly and very organized. I do think that the products they stock are fairly reasonably priced but I prefer to go to other locations for food, toys, etc. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that they have webcams for their doggie daycare. AND they have separate play areas for small and larger dogs. When I'm away and my pup stays here I can always keep my mind at peace by checking up on her via web cam access. There is always a staff member in each of the play areas which is also a plus watching the dogs play and to keep the areas clean. They are quick to clean up any doggie messes that happen (I've seen it via web cam!) If your dog stays for more than 5 days they give your dog a complimentary bath on the day you pick-up your pup. ANOTHER PLUS! Overall I couldn't ask for a better place to trust with my Momo pups. Thanks Happy Paws! read more

Lydia made my golden retriever's feathers look soft and fresh. He's been so soft to the touch for three days now. We were pleasantly surprised from the start, as instead of acting scared and nervous of being left in a new place, Waffles immediately followed her into the grooming area. She called him a sweetheart and gave him the love and attention we know he deserves. read more

Happy Paws is more like Bleeding Paws! Noticed after 2 days my poor dog, after a grooming here, had severe damage to his front paws! This is a big pet supply store in a prime location. I've never personally used their grooming or boarding services but everything seems clean. I usually see a few pets coming and going for their grooming. Their doggy daycare doesn't seem to be used often as I only see one or two dogs there ever. Their prices for dog food are fair - usually at least $1 cheaper than their competitors and that's what I mainly come for. They also offer a rewards system for each bag you buy. read more

I had not gone here before but Im glad I did. Victor groomed my baby gurl Lucy for the first time and what a great job. She came back to me nice and fast and squeaky clean a big fluff ball. I've been using Happy Paws for the last two years for grooming. Victor does a fabulous job on my two dogs. I have one Toy Poodle named Blue and one Bichon Frise named Jax. Victor always takes his time and cuts their hair exactly the way I want. Victor pays very close attention to detail making sure each groom is perfect. People on the street always compliment how clean and beautiful my dogs look after he grooms them. When it's time for their grooming both my dogs start jumping and get so excited to see Victor. He not only grooms them very well, but knows how to handle animals. I've never seen my dogs warm up to anyone that is grooming them. It makes me feel great that I don't have to worry, and that they are in great hands with Victor! read more

I've been taking my Golden Retriever to Happy Paws for grooming for about two years now. We are so lucky that we found Lydia - she is the best there is. She is always punctual and her cuts are the best we've had in Manhattan. She never rushes and takes fantastic care of my dog. My dog is a little bit anxious but Lydia is wonderful during the drop off process. She also makes sure that I receive a call from the front desk when there is about 30 minutes left to the cut so that my dog doesn't have to wait for me to arrive. Lydia always takes the time to discuss my dog's hair and whatever her needs are prior to grooming rather than just assuming what I want done. She is so personable and my dog absolutely adores her. Sometimes I even get pictures and updates while she is being groomed! People are constantly stopping me in the street to ask who cuts my dog's hair - Lydia is just that good! read more

When someone calls you a liar and a irresponsible pet parent, yes I will curse you the f$!? out! Your staff refused to acknowledge that their might have been an error in communication and that is where the problem started. When I told the gentleman with the tips that I had called the day before and confirmed his exact words to me were, "that is not true as Nathan was on staff and he would have relayed that Information to me." Let's not skip over the fact that despite the fact that two dogs were scheduled you only had one on the books. As for threatening your staff, that is laughable! I said that Quincy was an asshole because the dismissive look on his face and statement that I was an unfit pet parent was the problem. Like I said to them "why the f/@" would I travel from the Bronx without the vaccine record if I had been told it was missing. I showed them both proof on my phone that I called the store the day before (as you guys do not have a formal confirmation process). Guess your staff left a little out of that conversation as well. If your staff is too incompetent to tell the customer what they need that is on you. Who walks around with their pets' vaccine cards?! As stated, you need not worry about my darkening the doorstep of your establishment and have advised my friends to do the same. Happy Paws can go kick rocks! Have a nice life! If you are looking for a reputable groomer where the staff treats you with dignity and respect, as well as actually confirms appointments (rather than having to do so yourself), might I suggest Biscuits and Bath. PS I find it laughable that your employees said I threatened them. As for your staff suggesting to call the vet, I call bullshit on that! All they said it was not their responsibility to remind me to vaccinate my dogs, which was not the issue. Once again, even in your response you failed to acknowledge any wrongdoing on the part of your establishment, which explains why your staff behave the way they do! read more

I just picked up my dog from Happy Paws. He was in just for a bath (not a full grooming). The price listed in the store indicated that baths start at $75, so I assumed the price for my medium sized, very short-haired dog's bath would fall somewhere around that price or maybe just a bit more since he's not tiny (but he's also not large). However, upon pick up, I was charged $120. When I questioned the amount, the people at the desk told me that this is the standard charge for a Goldendoodle because of the thickness and curliness of the hair, which I could easily understand EXCEPT THAT MY DOG'S HAIR WAS JUST SHAVED a few weeks ago, and it is less than a quarter of an inch long! When I pointed that fact out to them (and they could easily see the dog right there in front of them), they had no response other than to reiterate that this is how much they charge for a Goldendoodle. The price is ridiculous for a medium sized dog with a completely shaved body, but the people at the desk seemed very happy to overcharge for their service, so this is just a cautionary notice to buyer beware, and make sure you find out in advance how much the groomers plan to charge you before you put your puppy in their hands :( read more

This place has a decent amount of clothing options and dog beds. They however did not have any fleece options for the cold or onzies which I think is crucial for the legs in the winter of New York. The smell is a little strong in here towards the back right of the store but it is a dog store after all that houses dog food as well as acts as a doggie day car day and night. They charge $35 for 6hrs and they provide tours as well as more information via website and phone. Also I went in looking for nutro and they only carried a few brands in this store They did not have much for a traveling dog accessories wise but they do have a decent amount of traveling soft shell kennels and bags for on the go. Sherpa is a great brand approved by airlines and they have that in store as well. Brittney was very helpful she ran the cash register but always was very knowledgeable about all the product carried. All in all they were very helpful and it was nice to see the selection carried in store. I would come back. read more

I am going to echo the statements made right below mine, since it is also my dog. When she said she cried because the grooming was done so poorly, I thought she was over-exaggerating. And I was wrong. It makes me sad that I have to look at a dog that doesn't even look like my dog anymore. He looks objectively terrible. I re-called Happy Paws to ask for a full refund, and the manager said "well, he did technically perform the service." To which I responded: I can shave my dogs head for free. They did not give me a refund. My sweet little Penelope-the golden doodle and I have similar hair and similar issues with our mixed breed heritage. Penelope is a golden retriever and poodle mix. Nadja is a Russian and African-American mix. Both of us have some fabulous, but funky hair. I accosted a local, walking his perfectly coiffed golden doodle after brunching at Relish (ooh must remember to review). He sent me to Happy Paws for breed-specific hair brushes. I was planning on spending a mint but the prices were better than Petco and I love how boutique-y Happy Paws is. The customer service is also fantastic. The employee who helped me didn't even blink an eye when I sheepishly asked if there was such a thing as detangler for dogs. She steered me to magic. I've had plenty experience with Happy Paws over the years and though I would like to give them more stars, I just feel that I can't because one of my family dogs was injured there. A few years ago when picking up my family dogs from Happy Paws, one of the dogs' eyes was punctured. She wasn't bleeding and wasn't in pain but another pup's nail or something definitely struck her. As a result, she can't see very well out of that one eye. Little Betsy is a trooper though and she acts just like a normal dog. Unfortunately, before my family moved to Florida, this was the only affordable doggy kennel to keep them in so we were kinda hostage to the place her little eye was injured. Overall the space is nice, they keep is as clean and fresh smelling as u can a kennel and they have doggie webcams and cute puppy supplies. read more

Happy Paws is only a few blocks from me, and if there were some kind of prayer of thanks someone can tell me about suitable for such a blessing, please share it. They pick up and deliver. Not laundry. Your pet. Did you know there was a Hyatt Resort for dogs on Lafayette and Houston? There is! If there was a doggie day camp, this would be it. As for boarding overnight, they do it with style and panache. Want a suite for your baby? They have them, and don't think you're insane for even asking. Special needs, special diets, making you feel like you aren't a horrible person for leaving your animal there--they are totally at your service and when you walk out, you don't feel a sickening dread that you might not see your pet again when you return. They carry every conceivable pet-related thingie you could possibly need. They groom. They offer referrals to other pet-related service providers. When you check out, there are dishes of treats for your Fido, and leash hooks to free your hands from holding Fluffy while you write out your check. The staff actually knows something about animals and animal behavior. Prices are reasonable. I have paid less here for the same things I have bought at Petco. You can watch dogs playing in the playrooms while you shop. Note the tags on all of them, making sure that not only do you get the dog you dropped off, but that nobody but you or your designated picker-upper can take your dog home. Best of all, you can log on to their website and actually watch your pet via webcam. That peace of mind is worth every penny it costs. I love Happy Paws. Josie loves Happy Paws. Peter loves Happy Paws. read more

I will say that their assortment of merchandise is impressive, but... I bought this yelp deal that was supposed to give me $75 for $50, which mind you, doesn't say anything about what it actually goes towards and what. My total came up to about $55 something. I added all the extra stuff for my fussy pug to get all his everything done (booty cleaning, brush teeth, clean ears, trimming hooves), and I still had a portion of that deal left over. In reading the terms and conditions, I get that the voucher has to be used up in the initial use, but I wasn't informed of my actual total and was just told to pay tax. Are you fucking kidding me? Soooo that extra $25 doesn't go towards tax? You couldn't offer me more shit to use up the whole $75 and have me buy more shit to actually make you more money? lol... Talk about customer service. Oh and, they did an ok job with my pug's bath, but his nails were still razor sharp... Makes me wonder what I actually paid for... Trekking it out here from BK was close to being a waste of time. read more

The selection is limited and now that there is a petsmart around the corner they better step their game up. They did allow me to return some booties which was great. Some pet places are jerks with returns. I don't like when I see the dogs in the two rooms because they jump on the window when you walk by. There is a person in there petting and playing but the dogs look sad and lonely. I'm not sure what people expect when they leave their pets all day but I'm not sure I would be too happy having my pup cooped up in a small room with other dogs. read more

This is a place for dog owners that truly do love their pet. Awesome friendly staff. Excellent array of everything you could need for your pup or kitty - from dry/wet/frozen food to every type of toy to a myriad of treats to outfits. I commend them for their excellent selection of the best food on the market for your pup or kitty - Orijen, Solid Gold, Wellness, Natural Choice, Arcana.... simply the BEST on the market. They also have a buy 10 get 1 free program for food, and since i only feed my baby Wellness, and the price for the cases are wonderful, I am very happy i found this place. Happy Paws gave me a below average experience and for the price! OMG I felt ripped off! First of all the groomer did not even listen to what I wanted, second I hate that they take the poor dog to a basement somewhere and you cant keep an eye on them- only God know what they do- not cool there should be cameras or something for the owners to watch, after reading a google review that people saw happy paws employees KICK the dogs I was so nervous i almost got sick. Then I paid over 100 for a grooming experience that was wrong, she obviously didn't listen to me when I spoke for ten full minutes describing what type of cut I wanted and the very worst part is when he came out he looked upset and kept shaking his head, I asked if he had water stuck in his ear they said oh please there is nothing wrong with him, made me feel stupid, then all night he persisted and all the next day still shaking his head- I took him to the vet the next night and the vet said he had an ear infection. I will Never EVER come here again that for sure. The only reason why I gave it two stars instead of one is because i liked the boutique. Then when I checked out the guy overcharged me by more than $50, I kept telling him to please check the bill and again he tried to make me feel stupid by belittling me, AND Like and idiot I paid it because he made me feel like an overneurotic pet owner, but then I stopped and I said wait a minute lets go over this again, together and we found his stupid mistake and they did a price adjustment. He made a mistake in his favor and tried to bully me so I would feel uncomfortable and just leave!! F them- PetCo is much better and you can view the entire thing which makes sense, would you send your child to a doctor behind a dirty door of a basement? read more

I was happy to discover a store that seemed big enough to carry something specific. When I approached one of the female attendants, I said, "Hello, how are you?" There was no response. I explained what I was looking for (a bell ringer for our potty-training puppy to declare he wants to go outside). She said, "No, we don't have that here." I started to ask if maybe there were a chain or cat toys that jingled and that I could buy when the phone rang. She didn't ask me to hold on but instead ignored me, picked up the phone (the other girl was not busy with a customer and could've answered the phone) and I was aghast at the lack of customer service. I left immediately. I went to the neighboring PetSmart where three employees helped me find something to create my product. They were very, very courteous. I will go to that PetSmart again. read more

I ain't goin' back. Bonus is that you get to see the little doggies running around their day care. It looks like a fun place to work. Extra special bonus? ABOUT THE SHOP : You'll find plenty of gear for your dog, the regular you'll find at PetCo or Pet Smart, but with some other cutter things !! Little sweaters, leashes and collars, a bigger choice of boots, the cutest dog beds, AND (most important) BIODEGRADABLE poop bags. Some items are more expensive, and others are cheaper. Overall you'll get pretty much the same prices. The real thing is about dog food. They have a great variety of choice regarding the high quality food. They have Orijen, for exemple. This place is definitely a place to visit if you happen to be around NoHo or SoHo. They always have plenty of dogs to see in their 3 big rooms. Rooms are set on dog size - one for small, medium, and large. They have many adorable kinds of dogs that you can look at and to watch them play. Many will happily smile back at you. Each room has one person watching over the dogs, a child's playpen(with a slide), and a "bad dog" jail cell. Usually, dogs that try to hump, or fight aggressively are put into "jail". However, it is not degrading at all. It is meant to cool them down. Sadly, their rooms are often packed with like 10-20 dogs at once - and sometimes one person just can't watch over that many dogs. I have dogs myself, but I have never brought them here. I have heard their prices are ridiculously high and unpredictable. Their dog food is of standard price. But their toys are overpriced. I bought a doggie bed here before - it is of good quality and my dog loves it. Sometimes, they have free dog food samples, so come check it out. It is a very nice and clean environment, the facilities are clean, and it does not smell. The staff varies from friendly to tempermental. They may be hard to find because they share a space with a Chinese Restaurant supply company. There is a small parking lot that fits like three-four cars, but it is meant for the supply company. So, if you are around the area, make sure and visit Happy Paws! The dogs will love you for it. *Their cat condos are gone..... read more
