This place changed owners in 2023. It was ok before, but the new people have brightened it up a lot, added several new product lines, and employed cheerful, talented technicians. I always have a pedi and a mani, usually with some awesome designs on my nails. It all costs about $100-120, but you get 10% off if you pay cash. And you never know what the mood may be -- they could be playing 90s pop, current country, Asian classical, easy listening -- you just never know. read more

Recommended by a friend and was by far the worst gel manicure i've ever had. They put about 6-7 coats of gel polish on before realizing it was "too thick" and "shrinking" so the neighboring nail tech took over only to completely tear apart my nails leave them jagged, and unfinished. It's a longer drive from my house than the other salon, but IT IS WORTH IT!! I would love to give this salon 5 stars and I would have only taken off 1 star for this situation but after speaking directly to the owner about it, 2 stars off seems more appropriate. I don't come to this salon often because the mani and pedi services are expensive. That being said I received a gift certificate for Mother's Day for the Happy Mani/Pedi combo ($75 value). This comes with a foot/hand scrub, massage and hot towel wrap (I got the wrap on my feet but not on my hands, not sure why this was left off my hands). I called to make an appointment so my mom, sister and I could all get in together, girls day out. On the phone I was asked if any of the manicures would be gel, I replied yes, 1 of them. No information about what the up charge for gel would be although I assumed from past experience with other salons that the up charge would be $5-$10. So we go in for our appointments this past Saturday, we have a lovely time, the mani/pedis are great. Very well done. I also got my brows waxed because Helen does a phenomenal job. I go to pay my bill and at this point am informed that the gel is a $20 up charge. WHAT?!?! I was so stunned I paid my bill and asked for the menu of services on the way out. After looking over the menu it lists the "additional service" or add-ons. No where does it list that the gel add-on is $20. So not only have they not mentioned this to me but it's also not in their menu. I reached out to my girlfriends in California to find out what they generally pay, the response is an overwhelming "I have never paid more than $5-$10 for gel" and "I can't believe that's what they charge, that's ridiculous". This is coming from Los Angeles. Obviously it is what it is. I had NO intention of trying to get my money back. This is what this salon charges so I intended to call the salon and suggest that they add this fee into their menu so customers know up front. When I call and begin to explain, the owner has no interest in hearing my suggestion. He accuses me of telling him that he's running a crooked business then tells me that because he knows my mom and dad and because my mom has come in and gotten gel manicures before I should have known what the fee was. When I try to explain that if I had been a first time customer regardless of whether my parents have come in before or not he cuts me off and says he's with a customer and will need to call me back. ***UPDATE*** The owner did, in fact, return my call. We had a pleasant conversation and were both able to see the other person's viewpoint. I appreciated the fact that Dao followed through and called me back and apologized for the misunderstanding regarding me not knowing the fee for the up charge. I do believe this was a genuine misunderstanding. In my original review I took off 2 stars but after this conversation feel it appropriate to add 1 star back on. read more

I've always been pleased with Happy Nails - bright, friendly, efficient. I do suggest calling ahead especially for multiple services or a group, and always on weekends. The place is clean, the people are very personable -- the owner or his wife are always present -- and the prices are reasonable. My best tip - check out the polish change. Whenever you need a quick mani or pedi, do your paws a favor: make 'em Happy and come to Happy Nails and Spa. I can't speak much to the 'spa' aspect, but as a strip-mall nail salon pit-stop, this is the best one I've ever been to. I'm not comparing this to a high-end destination spa, but if I were to make such a comparison, I would note that you will pay less than at an appointment-only place and your results will last just as long, if not longer. As an example, my digits are still looking great after 2 weeks. And I'm wearing cherry red. Yes, I've even cleaned a bathroom or two in that timeframe. If you want an even longer-lasting mani, they offer acrylics, gel/shellac treatments, etc. It is also cleaner than most walk-in nail spots. Not just cleaner, but with a modern sense of ambiance. If you've been to the nearby CK Nails, you will appreciate this improvement. The pedi area has cute little child-sized chairs with personal DVD players for your little divas. Besides the convenience, pricing, and physical environment, the technicians here are very friendly and really care about their clients. They won't press you to talk if you don't want to, but the conversation will flow if you're in the mood to chat. One of the techs has an incredible memory for names and stories. She remembered that my parents came in the week before (my dad occasionally likes to get a pedi... A new development after years of pressuring him and letting him know it would be okay). She always remembers what's going on with me, and I'm amazed every time. I don't go more often than once every three months or so (though now I'm thinking I should go more often! It's usually an emergency a la Elle Woods). There won't be any Bend and Snap tutorials, and no UPS deliveries that I've seen, but give it a try anyway. Plus, it's not far from 315 in North Arlington...easy access! read more

I discovered Happy Nails over a year ago, when I walked in an hour before closing, desperate for help because I bought a dipped nail kit at a beauty supply store and tried to do my own (side note: I don't recommend it). They fixed my nails even though they had a full salon of regular customers. How do I know they were regulars? They laughed, joked, and chatted with each other, the manicure techs, and the owners. I've never been in a salon where everyone was so nice--usually people want to get their nails done and get out of there. At this point, I don't go anywhere else when I want a manicure or a pedicure. The salon is closed on Sundays, which is inconvenient, but let me tell you what it is THE CLEANEST place. I am a freak about cleanliness (literally, I have OCD) and I watch carefully to see what sanitary practices are employed at salons. The stations at Happy Nails are always clean and dust-free, the tools are in sealed packages fresh from the autoclave on clean bamboo trays, and the hand wash stations are immaculate. I was the last customer one evening and while I was finishing up the staff cleaned the pedicure tubs, sanitized every chair (including the base and wheels) and wiped down every countertop and table. They even have little air purifying machines at each station. If you want to have a great experience with this salon, CALL IN ADVANCE and make an appointment. I've always been able to get in the same day, but I've never seen a walk-in get immediate service. Go more than once and they will remember you and what services you usually get. Bring cash if you don't want to pay for the credit card service charge. Be a good customer and tip for their great service. Enjoy! read more

If you have some time and want to relax and have a really nice spa pedicure for a reasonable price in a massage chair, this is a great place for you. They are busy because they are great people and they do a good job. I think the idea behind the walk-ins is that if they have availability, they will take you. If not, they will tell you what time later in the day you should come. I went right when they opened at 10am on Saturday and was told they have available slot at 1:30pm. When I came back at that time, they took me right away. The spa pedicure was amazing. So relaxing, great massage. I was on the fence about two colors and once she did my first toe I knew I didn't like the one I had chosen. She changed it no problem, even had to go find the other color for me, because I didn't bring it over, I was amazed she remembered the exact one. I noticed after drying that my manicure had some bubbles in it and even though Helen was very busy, she redid the polish for me on every nail. I ended up being there for a long time, but I have a really nice mani pedi. Another thing I want to mention that I think speaks volumes for the place, is that there were so many regulars, a lot of people interacting and just having a relaxed fun Saturday afternoon. They are wonderful. Very fair prices and they always get you in if they can. Nice location with big windows so you don't feel trapped! Very good experience here today. Called at 10:15, and they could schedule a pedicure at 10:30. This is the first time I was able to get an appointment here with short notice! And once there, I could see why. They fill up fast, even on a Monday morning. Like other reviewers, I really appreciated the lack of a blaring television. The music was fine, quiet and soothing. The pedicure (the expensive one, don't remember the name) was excellent! Really excellent. The place and the instruments were very clean (instruments were opened in front of me). Love the massage chairs. I do wish they had a wider range of colors of regular polish, but I can always bring my own. I really love this place!
