I got the TNT roll and my son got the Killer shrimp roll. Both came out quickly! I can't say enough about the place. I didn't see any issues with cleanliness and I am a bit fussy. The ladies room was out of order and I had to use the men's room, which I was hesitant about, but it was better than some peoples bathrooms and very clean. Smelled good, too! Dessert was good, too. I've tried this place multiple times and I always end up disappointed. The last time I went, they gave me zero Wasabi. I got 2 rolls. One was the fish lover roll and it looked not fresh and was literally falling apart. The other roll didn't hold together either. Sooo I work in Conshy and there really are no sushi spots around besides this one. I was really excited to try this place out - I had high hopes and it did not disappoint. I would steady drive by as it is in a popular shopping center and finally came during lunch a few weeks ago with a coworker. It is an order at the counter and sit experience, which is good for a quick lunch. They bring your food to you at your seat once ready. We got edamame which wasn't that impressive and three rolls to split. The rolls were tasty. It was about $35 for all of that which is reasonable for sushi. My favorite was the spicy tuna crunch. I love this place. Conshy is lacking in sushi spots but I've always been happy with happy maki :) Favs include the sushi pizza, Flaming roll, green dragon roll, tiger roll - although they are all great. I usually get two special rolls and while it is pricey it's so good. I have found that other sushi in the area (the general, guppies, kabuki, wild rice, even nectar) offer sub par special rolls. They cost more and aren't as interesting. Happy maki has a ton of options and they don't skip on ingredients or portions. The only comparable place is Woojung, but Happy Maki is much more convenient. It's always been fresh and quick. I think this place has a lot of haters - maybe it's because it's in a strip mall, but don't be fooled, it's great sushi!! read more

Despite my opinion of Happy Maki from my first visit, I decided to give them another chance because I thought the food was good. This time, I went with take out. I found the food to be virtually inedible. The sushi was mealy and unappetizing. Also, it's highly aggravating to open a small soup container to discover it is half empty. This was the case with the miso and the udon. Nothing here is worth the money. The portions are small and the food is not good. I will never go back. Here's the original post- How could I not like a place called Happy Maki? Come on, folks, that's adorable. Too bad the place is so odd, because I don't like it. I have always lived under the assumption that when there are no servers, the prices go down. Or that when you are housed in a suburban strip mall, the prices go down. Or when you use mostly disposable dishes, the prices go down. Or when a restaurant doesn't offer tap water, don't the prices usually go down? Are you noticing a trend, reader? This place generally does everything on the cheap, and yet their prices are fairly high. There are no technical servers. You walk up to the counter, order, and they'll bring your food to your table. Drinks are self service so at the counter they will offer you a choice of soda fountain or a bottled drink, including bottled water. Their tea and green tea options are limited to a bottle of Peak's green iced tea. Everything is plastic ware, the utensils, the soy sauce plates, the small plates. The only things not plastic are the dishes they bring the food on. I hope the rest is all biodegradable, cause they're producing a lot of garbage. The food was good, but not good enough to justify the prices. My miso was tepid and only filled half the bowl. The rolls were good, but certainly not great. The price is definitely not justified. Most of their special rolls are based off a California roll. For instance, the Dragon roll is a California roll with eel on top. That should not be $15, especially when the California roll only costs $4.95 Or how about this pricing decision. A spicy tuna roll is $6.99, a little bit steep, but not outrageous. A spicy tuna crunch roll is $8.99. The only difference is the addition of tempura flakes for $2. This place is weird. Everything is done on the cheap, and yet costs more than normal. Maybe they will work on this once they are open a little longer. I don't think I'm going to stick around to find out. read more

This place has bad business ethics. The sushi is extremely over priced for the quality/quantity you are receiving. The nigiri was sliced razor thin and priced ridiculously high. I just went there over the weekend and I tried two new dishes- their "Happy Chicken" salad which is crispy chicken in a mango sauce over greens- the dressing is SO good. I also tried their new Sunflower roll which is spicy tuna with crunchy tempura flakes on top- I love the crunch!! My favorite roll is the Tornado in which they fry potato sticks and pile them on top of the rolls, and their Money Ball is so unique in which they fry jalapeno peppers, cream cheese and tuna together- it sounds weird but tastes SO good! Happy maki is one of the best sushi places nearby. The service is always nice. And Gi, the cook, is the nicest guy ever, he always makes conversation. They treat regulars really nice here. I always feel at home and comfortable. It's more of a cafe place, so you go up and pay before you sit down and the food is served. There's rarely a wait for dine in as it is more of a take out kind of place. There are special rolls each day that are 2 dollars off. My favorites include the rose roll, the flaming (great for spicy-food lovers), and the tiger. Their spicy chicken teriyaki rice bowl is amazing too. I believe if you go during lunch hours, there are lunch sushi specials that include a cooked and fresh roll for 10$. read more

Not that many Sushi places in Conshy that I would trust...Actually I only know of 2 and one is kinda sketchy. So guess how pleased I was when Happy Maki kicked out some stupid school of dance and decided to serve their delicious Bento boxes. I do get that it is a little pricey but would you really eat "cheap" sushi? The inside is very well done for primarily a take out place, and the staff is very friendly. If you have more than 3 people I really wouldn't suggest eating in but thats up to you... The Bento box is the best bang for your buck and my go to. Like Alexandra said its probably not an 2-3 times a week thing, but definitely 2-3 times a month when you get the craving for some sushi thing. read more

Okay, so the sushi here is just okay but the teriyaki bowls are pretty good and reasonably priced! My spicy chicken teriyaki bowl came with perfectly cooked sticky rice, plenty of flavorful, tender chicken sauteed with onions in a sweet and savory sauce, a side of shredded Asian slaw, and a small bowl of miso soup. The portion was also pretty generous, given the very reasonable $8.50 price tag.
