This was a $16 roll

I've tried this place multiple times and I always end up disappointed. The last time I went, they gave me zero Wasabi. I got 2 rolls. One was the fish lover roll and it looked not fresh and was literally falling apart. The other roll didn't hold together either. I called and they said that since it was sashimi that it doesn't hold together which isn't true. Being a huge sushi person, I've never seen a roll so sparse and messy looking. Especially for $16. At this point, I wouldn't go back.

Sooo I work in Conshy and there really are no sushi spots around besides this one. I was really excited to try this place out - I had high hopes and it did not disappoint. I would steady drive by as it is in a popular shopping center and finally came during lunch a few weeks ago with a coworker. It is an order at the counter and sit experience, which is good for a quick lunch. They bring your food to you at your seat once ready. We got edamame which wasn't that impressive and three rolls to split. The rolls were tasty. It was about $35 for all of that which is reasonable for sushi. My favorite was the spicy tuna crunch. There's ample seating or you can order out. I'll definitely be back!

Happy Maki is the best Japanese restaurant in town!!The food was fresh and delicious. The presentation was so nice and beautiful. People work there were so welcoming and kind. Wish we found this place earlier!! We will be back soon.

I love this place. Conshy is lacking in sushi spots but I've always been happy with happy maki :) Favs include the sushi pizza, Flaming roll, green dragon roll, tiger roll - although they are all great. I usually get two special rolls and while it is pricey it's so good. I have found that other sushi in the area (the general, guppies, kabuki, wild rice, even nectar) offer sub par special rolls. They cost more and aren't as interesting. Happy maki has a ton of options and they don't skip on ingredients or portions. The only comparable place is Woojung, but Happy Maki is much more convenient. It's always been fresh and quick. I think this place has a lot of haters - maybe it's because it's in a strip mall, but don't be fooled, it's great sushi!!

Lunch bento box with a side of sushi

Happy customer from Happy Maki. I moved away and like to visit here when I am back in town. The restaurant changed their lunch hours (which I did not realize) and the employee was very friendly with me, allowed me to make a pick-up order at 1:50 pm, and waited for me after the new closing time (2 pm) to get my order. This was such a small thing, but it really made my day. Thank you

Chicken Teriyaki Rice Bowl $14

Stopped on the way home for a dinner here --- food was good but portions well under for the price paid. We ordered three rice bowls with different options - Chicken katsu/ veggie & shrimp tempura / chicken teriyaki bowl . Fresh maki rolls as well as Spicy Ramen Served with miso soup as well as rice. Food was fresh and served hot. Three pieces of chicken katsu/ with pickled cabbage in a bowl mainly filled with rice Veggie/Shrimp Tempura bowl with picked cabbage and ONE shrimp Too much rice and too less meat -- but overall it was a nice restaurant & good food.

Take out udon- not a big container and not filled

Food is fantastic, cute little place, but I think they might be closed now, which is a bummer.

You have to drive to East norriton or Manayunk to find better sushi. Fresh, delicious and fast. Highly recommend.

Hair in food. Place gets dirtier by the day. Bring back the original owners. Service was also horrific.

So far, I have been here twice. It is a little bit out of the way for me to frequent. However, if I…read morelived nearby, I would be here once a week for sure. They have the two most important elements that make for outstandingly excellent sushi, and even more exciting, poke; those are extremely fresh fish and ingredients and a small, little, family-owned atmosphere with a great attitude and care that can only be administered by a small place like this. The bowls of poke are bright and beautiful, with all the wonderful ingredients and sauces you can imagine. Not only do you have the ability to make them any way you see fit, they showcase their regular customers' orders as named specials on the wall so that you can order what others have enjoyed thoroughly, and maybe find something exciting and new! Unfortunately, during my initial visit here, I did not snap any photos of the poke bowl, but on my second trip, I was feeling in more of a sushi mood, and managed to get a picture of my sushi box! I love that they pack in actual yuzu leaves for flair and flavor, and everything has variety from the chef's choice and still maintained the absolute freshness that I had expected from my first time here. I will be returning here whenever I am nearby and cannot say enough about how wonderful this little place is. From what I have seen, it is a husband and wife alone that manage Toyota, with occasional other staff to help, but they are excited and eager to help and get you whatever you need, and to build lasting relationships with people that come in the door. They are trying to build that extended family that sets a small restaurant apart and doing a great job of it through their unrivaled mastery of the poke bowl. So do yourself a favor and stop into this tiny, almost unnoticeable strip mall, and make this home yours.

We visited yesterday with a large group to celebrate three birthdays. This is a long review, but…read morethe main point is that after sitting for almost two hours we left without eating dinner. They closed at 11 and by 10:50 we were never assigned a chef to cook for us. Now for the long story: We waited over an hour to be seated after calling ahead and being guaranteed a reservation for 8pm. We were finally seated at approximately 9:15 PM. We waited over an hour for lemonade. My brother-in-law had to get up and ask someone at the bar for a drink for my nephew. When drinks arrived, several of them were wrong or unpleasant. Our server did not attend to us much at all. She took our orders and brought one round of water. We had to ask other servers for water. Adding insult to injury throughout the evening, staff members, including busers, servers, and chefs, repeatedly peeked from behind the partition, watching our table without approaching us. This behavior felt uncomfortable and unprofessional and created an awkward dining atmosphere. It gave the impression they were waiting for us to leave since the restaurant closes at 11 PM. Our friends were seated at another table. We asked the chef if he could just cook our food without the performance since we were hungry and had already waited so long. Both managers, Rhonda and the general manager, communicated in a short, dismissive tone and did not demonstrate urgency or accountability. The overall atmosphere, particularly the laughing, whispering, and repeated peeking from behind the partition, made the experience feel uncomfortable, unprofessional, and unwelcome rather than hospitable. Being short staffed is common. We understand operational challenges. However, basic hospitality, communication, and professionalism should still be maintained. This was a birthday bust! I really expected more from Benihana! Never again!
