For the last four weeks, when I am not around, Ken is making a habit of taking my laundry out of the dryer before it is dry. On Sunday, I put 9 quarters in the dryer for 45 minutes because the dryer was cold, I came back 40 minutes later to find my laundry in the basket all damp! There's no way laundry would be damp in that length of time. Another time, I caught him with my duvet in another dryer, the rest of my laundry was in a basket. Rather than make a scene, I put my clothes back in the dryer for 5 more minutes. I do not understand what his problem is! I would AVOID coming here from now on.

In any case, this is my favourite cleaner in Vancouver for a few reasons: 1. They do excellent work, both with dry cleaning and alterations, I have always been very happy with their services. 2. Their prices are extremely reasonable, especially for alterations. 3. The women who work here are lovely and very friendly. I've gotten to know one of them a little bit and I always look forward to seeing her when I stop in. They are also conveniently located in Jericho Village Shopping Centre, which many not be the slickest place, but there are some other very useful stores there, so I can get several things done in one place. I was very disappointed with my experience at Carousel Cleaners, particularly with the lack of…read moretransparency around pricing. When I dropped off several jackets and pairs of pants, I specifically asked approximately how much the cleaning would cost. I was told they would not give me an estimate. After I had already left my clothes with them, I received an email showing that the total would be hundreds of dollars. The individual charges included approximately $30 for a blazer/jacket, $26 for a pair of slacks, and $40 to clean a short, lightweight nylon jacket -- essentially what I had paid for that jacket second-hand. My biggest issue isn't simply that Carousel is expensive. A business is entitled to set its own prices. My problem is accepting a customer's clothing while declining to provide even an approximate cost when specifically asked, and only disclosing the substantial total afterward. At that point, I felt I had very little choice and was effectively locked into a transaction without having been able to make an informed decision about the price beforehand. For a service that can run into hundreds of dollars, I think customers should be given clear pricing or at least a reasonable estimate before their garments are accepted for cleaning. The cleaning may be positioned as a premium service, but based on my experience, I would not return because of the pricing and, more importantly, the lack of upfront transparency.

When I walked in I noted all the different colour threads, which I thought great , they'd be able to match the brown. Why on earth would you mend it with pink thread, when the jacket is brown and dusty red!?! I like using local small businesses, this time it really bit me in the ass.
