I've been a loyal customer at Carrousel Cleaners for years, regularly bringing in large amounts of clothing for cleaning. Recently, I brought in a big order worth nearly $400, which included an expensive cashmere shirt that cost me over a couple hundred dollars. When I went to pick everything up, the shirt was missing. I flagged it right away, but they claimed it never came into the system and wasn't on the camera footage--so that was that. They offered nothing to make it right. No credit, no apology, no effort to find a resolution--just a cold "tough luck." The woman at the front desk was incredibly rude and essentially accused me of never bringing it in. I've never been treated like this before, especially as a long-term customer. Yes, mistakes happen. But how a business handles those mistakes says everything. Sadly, Carrousel Cleaners showed me they don't value their customers or take accountability. I won't be going back. read more

After years of wear and tear, I had to get my favorite parka cleaned. I didn't know where to go, as this item that has kept me warm and dry in this lovely Vancouver climate, had to be given some TLC. I don't review a lot but today I was at Carousel - I've been a loyal customer since when they had been Tuesday's cleaners and got taken over by Carousel. Today I picked up 4 shirts and was informed that two of them had to be done by hand resulting in an upcharge of ~$14/shirt rather than the standard $6.85/shirt. No one called me to authorize this and I've taken the exact same shirts before to Carousel and they got a standard cleaning. When I had dropped these off, they didn't, at that time, tell me that they would require handwashing either. Today the salesperson explained that this was the judgement at the cleaning plant. When I asked them to remove the extra charge, she wouldn't do it, and instead kept me waiting for 10 min while she had to call her supervisor to authorize this - yes for a customer who's been with them for years - ever since they took over from Tuesdays' Cleaners (and nowhere do they say that they reserve the right to charge you the difference for hand cleaning - in fact, they don't post any prices at all). Anyway, to their credit, the supervisor did authorize removing the extra charge. I'm leaving this review and likely leaving them as well - so much for honoring customer loyalty. You'd think, if only for customer loyalty alone, they would have gladly removed the charge. Future advice to Carousel: post your prices and alert customers that they will be charged ~$14/shirt if deemed necessary. Future advice to customers: ask what the pricing is and inquire if you're going to get upcharged for services that you don't anticipate. Also consider going elsewhere - Kerrisdale across the street charges $5.50/shirt and Valetor on Burrard and 7th charges $6.00/shirt. read more

Terrible service! -------- From my wife: I received a notification via email that my items were ready for pick up. I called the store as we had a huge snow storm the last 4 days and asked if I could come get it this weekend. The lady on the phone said It was fine. I also emailed (just to make sure) and the manager Samantha emailed me to let me know that "that we do not offer long term storage". Just to make myself clear, I emailed her on Monday asking if I could come in Sunday latest when the roads clear as it takes me 45 minutes to get to Park Royal by car and I was not going to chance driving in the snow. On top of this, when I went in today, the woman at the counter said we hold items forever and they have items from 2016 still at the Park Royal store. She also said that they did not do any pick ups or deliveries all week because of the weather. Absolutely rude service from the manager!! I had the courtesy to email to let her know I was coming later in the week and she was so rude! ------------ Service is very important and suffice to say, we will NOT be going here again nor recommending them to anyone! Lastly, we have been using this dry cleaner for over 15 years to dry clean cashmere coats, business suits, men pants, embroidered shawls, party dresses, etc. This is the worst experience we have had. read more

I had many worrisome reviews that were presented to me as I was trying to find a decent place to get my clothes properly cleaned. I heard about Carousel Cleaners through the grapevine and that it is a family run company, and, with naivety, I thought they would be exceptional. I WAS WRONG. If you bring in anything that is worth $50 or WELL above, do your self a favor and do not trust this "company" with your garments that have cost you an arm and a leg for!! I'm beyond upset. Furthermore, I thought I would go to the West Vancouver attachment to see if they were different in customer service. Still disappointed. knowledgeable? far from it. I was willing to spend a significant amount of money but once I had not only one location with rude employees, Park Royal was no different. I have many friends who use this company to clean and press their garments but after my experience...I will definitely deter them away. When I had gone to the North Vancouver location to simply inquire about prices and cleaning methods, hopefully receiving better service, I was waiting at the front desk for over 15 mins only to be welcomed by a worker who I believe was a manager and wearing headphones... No wonder I was neglected for so long. Unacceptable! I even told my frustration and whoever was in charge rolled her eyes and proceeded to give me attitude. It seemed as if I was an inconvenience to her since it was early in the morning. Fine, should I come back when everyone is more awake, not smelling of cigarettes and willing to engage with customers appropriately? I will also speak on behalf of my mother-in-law. She was deeply saddened to see her cashmere sweaters shrunk (how? this is supposed to be one of the best cleaners out there.) I most certainly did my homework, so, I have not mistaken Carousel for another dry-cleaner. For the first time using a dry-cleaner, it was a very disappointing experience for her. Lastly, When she came to the North Vancouver location in the afternoon, a woman with a suitcase proceeded to ignore her when she asked if she worked there and if she could help. The woman finally turned to her attention and told my mother-in-law that its not her job and that my mother-in-law should wait her turn and be patient. She's 75 years old and at the time the only person waiting at the counter. You have lost a significant amount of business due to the rudeness and beyond an incredible lack of customer service. read more

As far as cleaners go Carousel is top drawer! In business since the 1950's , Cam and his crew are always ready helpful and reliable...I have used them for cleaning and repairing some garments and I am always thrilled with the results! Recently, due to all the snow, one of the seamstresses couldn't make it to work, so they called to let me know that my garment wouldn't be ready for Christmas...and so they offered me a discount when my shirt was ready! Best dry cleaners I ever used. The clothes come back in time looking and feeling like new. They have my business now, I won't bother with other dry cleaners anymore. Whoever manages to stay in business since 1950 must be doing something right. Yes, it's a little more pricy than other dry cleaners but you always get what you pay for. The service and staff are superb and everybody speaks English. Which makes a big difference. I think it's great they offer pick up and delivery and even better, they are green cleaners. Despite one of my friends advice ,due to short distance,I took my Burberry trench coat which I had received as a gift few years ago(as they say every man needs a Burberry trench coat for his life time which describes the high quality of that) to carousel dry cleaner at park Royal for the first time,when I got it back there was a note that saying we tried but could not clean the stains,I was surprised that the front of the coat was full of bubbles ,showing that the lining Was separated from the coat material . I took the coat back and they said we have to check with Burberry,which they did and Burberry send an email requesting to take the coat to one of their stores which were located in downtown for assessment ,so I did and they said that it shows that the coat has been kept in a top condition (needless to say that this is a formal trench coat that you usually don't wear it that often specially in Vancouver that most of the time people dress up casually),anyhow the Burberry experts stated that this problem is definitely caused by unprofessional cleaning (their email is attached),but funny thing that the owner of the carousel offered me cad200 credit for dry cleanings for compensation of my coat which the replacement value costs me about cad2200, I refused his unfair offer and there is no way that I can trust their unprofessional work and their irresponsibility. Upon assessing your coat, we have came to the conclusion that the "rippling" effect is not a manufacturer's defect and is due improper or uncareful cleaning. Great place if you're looking to have your clothes destroyed. I've gone there once with a cashmere sweater and a silk blouse as a test and the cleaning turned out fine. Nothing great for the exorbitant price, but not the worst either. The second time, I brought in three silk blouses. One has two buttons coming loose, the second all the buttons roughened up and filed around the edges and the third has starch marks around the collar. Who uses this much starch for a delicate fabric?? Also, train your staff how much each service costs so that you don't end up paying blind. Very disappointing, definitely NOT going back. read more

Can't say a bad word. Everything I have brought here comes back clean, fresh and with all its parts (I made the mistake of using Urban Drycleaning in Yaletown because it is under my apartment building and both of my blazers came back with cheap plastic buttons sewn on in place of the gold buttons that were on the before and my pale pink jacket came back with brand new dark grey spots on it) I mention that because it is worth noting that in one visit to another cleaner they destroyed 3 items of clothing that I will now be taking to Carousel Cleaners because I trust they can at least recover the damaged fabrics. I do bring my leather here as well because they send those out to a trusted leather cleaner. I also work at a high end boutique is West Van that uses Carousel Cleaners and the man who picks up from the store is always very well dressed and polite. They take pride in themselves and in the job they do. It is worth the trip across the bridge to make sure your favorite personal items are treated with care and returned in perfect condition. Did a great dry clean, but man was it expensive! $35 for my suit! I don't think I've ever paid more than $20.

Not the best. Shirts returned with wrinkles by top button of collar shirt, repeated service and no improvement. Wasn't offered much for my time and inconvenience, and had to ask for shirt to be redone twice. They need to make sure the clothes are perfect before they go back to the customer. more attention to detail is expected for those prices! read more

There were a few glitches on occasion when they hired new staff at Christmas to help with the busyness, but because they always want to accommodate your needs and make life easier for you, they offered to deliver my shirts to my home or give me a discount. I think when any business goes out of their way to personally deliver a shirt in a time of need is amazing in my books! read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I had recently brought in a brand new shawl (bought in India) that had a little dust line on it from having been folded and sitting on the shelf in the shop, and thought I'd have it cleaned to make it fresh. I was hesitant to bring it in to Carousel Cleaners as, years ago, they had ruined a beautiful $2,000 evening gown of mine and accepted no culpability. But, I thought, how could they possibly ruin a flat piece of cloth? Well, they did! I now have a beautiful, expensive shawl with a big brown stain on it, thanks to Carousel Cleaners. Once again, they claim no culpability and insist that the stain was old and set in (it wasn't even there when I dropped it off for cleaning). They said, even if they sent it out for analysis and determined that the stain was not old (and was indeed their doing, which it was) they still would not be able to reimburse me the cost of the shawl (or anything) as I do not have my original receipt from the store in India. Cam kept telling me he would phone me back but never did. I kept having to chase him down. I would strongly suggest you not bring anything of value to these people and truly wonder how they have stayed in business all these years. Not much choice in West Vancouver I guess. read more
