The House of Chocolates has been here as long as I remember - and I grew up in the Eastern Suburbs. It still has an old-fashioned sweet shop kind of feel, I always expect some jolly fat man to come out from the back proffering a tray of freshly made chocolate treats*. (*Note: This has never happened.) We used to come here sometimes after a day at the beach for little hand-made chocolate penguins for a treat, so I have happy memories associated with this place. Add some choc endorphins to that and this is my Happy Place. The chocolates are hand-crafted by Sydney chocolatiers but they also have a small number of imported sweets. My favourites: chilli and salted chocs, and of course the Happy Place penguins.

This old fashioned sweet store will conjure up memories of what life was like when you were a kid. There is so much variety and choice from local Aussie treats to fancy chocolaty imports. They have lollie jars, and sugary options are well as finely finessed hand made goodies. Prices start from $1 and could easy go into the hundreds depending what type of chocolate addict you are. I find this a fun place to try a bit of chocolate experimentation. Why not treat your taste buds to something new by purchasing a new flavour. It's a fun place to bring kids and kids at heart... I would suggest stopping in just to browse, but if you can leave without purchasing something than you have a lot more will power than I do...

It's hard pressed for me to find better chocolate after experiencing Belle Fleur, but the other day…read morewhile walking past this little chocolate boutique, I thought I'd give it a try. When I say this boutique is little, I mean tiny. I'm guessing most people window shop (unless they already know what they want) before entering to purchase because you couldn't really fit more than five or six people tops. Unlike most chocolate stores where they have hoards of chocolates stacked on top of each other in a seemingly endless supply, Just William Chocolates display only a handful of pieces onto a small dishes of each type of flavour. Some have two types of flavours on one dish. When you do actually go inside there's a few more choices that weren't out on the window display. If you're looking for a present and wanting to get these chocolates boxed, the packaging is well designed and they have a great variety of ribbon to choose from. I just wanted to try a couple that caught my eye from the window. The caramel fudge was amazing as it had pieces of ginger through it. Also the 'honeycomb bark' was great too. I should've gotten a bigger piece!

The shop window, laden with delicate rows of glossy brown orbs, promised respite, sustenance and chocolate-fixes from what had seemed to be a life without chocolate. Stepping over the threshold, a fabulous cocoa-rich waft tantalised my nostrils. Oh finally, I thought, my chocolate-famine has come to an end. I enthusiastically started pointing out truffles, buttons, bombes, ganaches and pralines that I wanted to buy. I liked their witty names - the B52 Bombe, for example; their hand-written labels; the brightly coloured ribbons and exquisite packaging. Of course, the chocolates tasted as delicious as they looked - no surprises there. They are expensive, at around $12 a kilo. But you have to pay for quality, and in a climate that isn't conducive to chocolate, I think they're worth every dollar. These are the type of chocolates that everyone loves to receive as a present. The packaging makes them even more wonderful. The choice that is available means there will be something for everyone - from the traditionalist who just wants a dark chocolate truffle to the fruit bat who wants a strawberry fondant - Just William can cater to all your chocolate desires.

Or envy the huge aging box encompassing even more choice cuts! and when the cold bites and/or the basket fills, exit the cold room for other non chilled products! hoofs, hearts, liver, pet mince, tongue? the frozen section will amaze! they also have cheeses, cured meats, sauces and other produce. as for the meats you buy, a full range of bbq paraphernalia will get you ready immediately for a cook off! once ready to check out, the quick moving line will get you out the door in no time. just grab cardboard boxes, if you need, for your bountiful loot and don't forget to return that jacket you took when you entered! it was definitely nice to meat you!

(Me trying to be funny) I reckon if there is a cut of meat that exists they have it or will know about it. This place is huge, very well kept, spotless, brilliantly organized and most important of all...does not smell!! When you get here, the entrance is something else...literally like walking into a giant Meat Locker! They have jackets for you at the front to keep you warm while you struggle to choose your cut of meat from the enormous selection...Brilliant! Then there is the selection...again just amazing, memorizing, so much to choose from! So are the prices... High quality meat at affordable prices! The Australian Meat Emporium truly feels like a wholesaler that is open to the public, not just one of those catchy or quirky gimmicks. Just like their website states: "Australian Meat Emporium says is a retail outlet selling the finest Bindaree Beef products directly to the public at affordable prices". I'm just not sure what Bindaree Beef is...guessing something good? They also work "very closely with producers of other species of meat such as Cowra Lamb, Arcadian Organic Meat, Rangers Valley and B.E Campbell's Bruemar Pork." Australian Meat Emporium used to be called Establishment 218...just in case your were wondering
