First visit and what a horrible experience! First I should admit that the Nurse who ended up cleaning our son's teeth was amazing. She got him comfortable with the tools and let him touch them and they played with them before she started. As soon as Doctor Patty came in she told our son "no! You can not touch my toys. They are mine not yours" which we were shocked to hear after the nurse set the tone of a playful environment. Then immediately the doctor started talking about ABA therapy for autistic children. Which shocked us immediately. I asked her why she was discussing therapy with us at his dental appointment. She said "I don't see kids with special needs". I said "so were you not able to finish what we were suppose to do today?" She said "no, we got everything done that we needed to" and I said "so what is the problem?" She responded with "well he was crying and visibly upset." To which I said "ok. Did that keep you or your nurse from doing your jobs?" She said no. But she recommended us taking him to therapy before his next visit. I asked her to not speak to me about therapy and instead speak to me about his dental needs. She back pedaled and changed her tune but ultimately it was a very negative experience especially since we were very proud of our son for allowing them to do what they needed to do regardless of a few tears because he was scared at his first visit. Dr Patty just seems like a lazy doctor who only wants to work with easy patients because she's a bad pediatrician who doesn't actually know how to work with children. We waited almost 2 weeks for an appointment for my 5 year old son who broke his tooth at school, he was in excruciating pain which I explained to them but they told me that's the earliest they had available. Day before the appointment (today) they call me at 7AM telling me that my son does not have dental coverage, which he absolutely does and was given to them through their own portal. In their message they said it would be a full out of pocket cost appointment paid before they would see him but if somehow I did have insurance (I do) they would need to reschedule his appointment to run his insurance AGAIN. I asked are you saying that if I pay cash in full you will see him but if I refuse and want to use my insurance you won't see him for at least three more days? Even though he's a 5 year old in pain. The answer was yes. Insanity. I said why would that take 3 more days and the girl on the phone did not have an answer for that and simply said I don't know. That's not an acceptable answer for us. We will be going elsewhere as well as reporting this situation to the proper places and regulators so this can be investigated. I believe they are peddling for cash since my son is in pain, which as a medical provider goes against their sworn oath. read more

You pride yourself and call yourself a pediatric dentist. My grandson had his second visit here today and was in less words told not to come back and that he needs to see a special needs dentist, someone that sudate and strap him down .He's 4, can you seriously tell me all the kids you have come there behave and do what you ask. My daughter is pregnant so they couldn't so xrays so dentist says well he most likely has cavities since he doesn't floss again he's 4...what a cold hearted, rude ass way to treat someone. He might have cavities, he might need a little holding down AGAIN HE JUST TURN 4, but there was a much better way to adress this. As a professional to say that about a NORMAL 4yr old is disgusting to me. I tried to take day off and be there, god knew what he was doing because this is 1000% not ok. My son is almost 3 and on the Autism spectrum and absolutely loses his mind whenever we go to any doctor's office. We wanted to find a dentist that would be willing to work with us. We were referred to Happy Grins by our family dentist, Bella Bella. Dr. Patty arranged for a Zoom meeting with us about a week prior to the dentist. That way she could talk to our son without her mask and PPE required due to COVID-19. She also answered any questions we had and tried to reassure us. Upon arrival, we were brought in and they tried to make my son feel at home. They allowed him to bring in a stuffed animal. It all worked well until we entered the exam room. That's where my son fell out, but it allowed Dr. Patty to examine his mouth well due to his screaming. The good news was that he was in my lap for the whole visit. After she was done, she took time to ask and answer any questions that we had. At the end of the visit, the kiddos get a token to choose a toy from one of the vending machines on the wall. I think this is a great touch for the kids. Since it was his first dentist visit, my son got a certificate in addition to the new toothbrush and vending machine prize. read more

Dr. Patty is my hero! We were dealing with months of anguish due to my son's inexplicable pain and crying. I did some research about tongue ties and wanted to get an expert opinion to see if my son was suffering from this. Happy Grins was recommended to me, as Dr. Patty specializes in this procedure. At the first appointment, I could barely hear Dr. Patty over my son's screaming, but long story short -- she did did diagnose him with multiple ties but wouldn't do the procedure that day. At first I was so upset we couldn't take care of the problem there and then, but she put me on a path toward his overall healing (not just his mouth). He just wasn't ready and she knew the procedure wouldn't be as effective if we had moved forward that day. She referred me to other specialists who helped his entire body relax and did some physical therapy in order for the procedure to be most successful. Fast forward to the procedure -- he was in a much better state to get it done. The actual procedure only lasted 5 minutes. They were very professional in how they handled everything. Of course we were so worried, and they helped put our mind at ease. And we are seeing much success afterward! I love how she also offers multiple followup appointments and stays in touch to ensure that your child does well following the release. She has state-of-the-art equipment in her office, and HUGE BONUS FOR US - she is so dedicated to safety. Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of getting lots of dental procedures done during Covid (and cold and flu season!), but she has invested in air purifiers, special lighting and strict protocol to best protect her patients. Honestly, it's one of the safest places I've been. Her office manager is also stellar. I have called and rescheduled multiple times, and she is always willing to work with me. They are a team of moms so they get it! Things happen. I can tell she truly cares about her patients, and that makes the difference. I will be returning her for my son's pediatric dentistry - it's a great practice!!! read more

Never thought I'd be passionate about a pediatric dentist but here we are. Happy Grins Pediatrics Dentistry is amazing. From our initial contact with Liz at the front desk, to the dental hygienist who so kindly and patiently helped our 3 nervous children through their first dental appointment to Dr.Patty who is a vision in pink, our family has truly enjoyed every interaction we've had with everyone at Happy Grins. Our son was born with tongue, lip and cheek ties. We got the run around with everyone when we expressed our concerns with his breastfeeding latch and gas issues. We were finally referred to Happy Grins and we could not be more thankful for Dr. Patty and her staff. They are so sweet and very knowledgeable. We had our son's revision and noticed an immediate improvement in his latch and gas issues. After his wounds healed he was such a happier baby overall and we're so glad we had it taken care of. My baby girl had a tongue tie and a lip tie. The entire staff was very helpful and very kind. They were knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Is it possible to give negative stars?!? It was recommended by the pediatrician we introduce our child to the dentist and teach about dental and oral care. Needless to say that our child was terrified and as most one year olds do cried in discomfort and fear when being held laying down while a stranger attempted to look into the mouth of my child. Much like the other parent who is a nurse, we also experienced this doctor also getting into our face asking about behavioral issues and insisted there be follow up done. Lecturing about something completely NOT related to the child's mouth and or how to care for his teeth and or discuss oral health. At one point I had to stop her and tell this woman to stop and we needed to leave. I have found a fantastic PROFESSIONAL PEDIATRIC DENTIST who does not make my child cry, explains what is gonna happen before he actually does it and most importantly has provided us with the tools to be successful in providing our kid the BEST ORAL CARE not only at home but with his care. Dr. Patty is great! My daughter, Victoria 4 yrs old, always cries and fights with the dentist. Having moved we needed to find a new pediatric doctor in the Minneola/Clermont area. I called numerous doctors in the area and Happy Grins Pediatric Dentistry was the only one I found that would allow me to go back to the exam room with my daughter. When we arrived the receptionist was extremely welcoming. The nurse and especially Dr. Patty were calming, kind, and patient. Victoria started with the crying and fighting, but by the end of the visit she was hugging Dr Patty and left telling everyone "see you soon". It has been the best experience at a dentist. We will definitely keep Dr. Patty as her dentist. Oh,! and the one thing Victoria cannot stop talking about is how at the end of the visit she was given a coin to get a surprise out (she choose a ball). This is beside the other gifts she was given.
