The massage area is a bustling area of curtains and miscellaneous sounds: snoring, grunts, people coming & going and Chinese language. I was fine with it. The massage itself was a bit unorthodox with some good and some interesting. I enjoyed much of it but some of the moves were silly (ineffective) and some not for the faint of heart. I'm not overly modest, so when my glutes (butt) were exposed and massaged along with the frontal leg work positions, I felt fairly exposed. And the use of unscented oil was generous to be kind. Typically, I inform the masseuse when I need more pressure and specify where, but this visit was incredibly disappointing!!!!!! I would not recommend this place, nor will I be returning. The staff seemed inexperienced and unprofessional. During my session, they exchanged masseuses halfway through, which made me feel extremely uncomfortable. The massage itself was poorly executed: they applied extreme pressure on my neck area while the rest of the body received only the lightest of touches. It was far from the relaxing experience I needed; in fact, it was the worst massage I have ever received. Omg my massage therapist was great, this lady was all over the damn place literally lol. They get into every Crack and crevice of you whole body. She found every sore and inflamed part of my body. She applied just the right amount of pressure and massaged deeply into that area. I felt like a beated up piece of dough for a night or two. Our massage came with oil so we had to almost completely disrobe. My massage therapist was very strong and really got into all my knots! I felt so relaxed after! My only suggestion for improvement was that while I was laying on my back, when the masseuse went to get towels, the curtain was left open so other clients may have been and to see me (even though I was covered with a blanket). My mother and I visited this massage place located in Redondo Beach. After reading reviews, I thought why not give it a try. We called about an hour ahead to book an appointment which we were easily scheduled. Customer service was nice. While on our way there, I called to let them know that's we were running a little late, but no one answered initially. A few minutes later, we got a call back and the receptionist told us that it wasn't a problem and even texted us the address to ensure we were headed to the location. Upon arrival, we were greeted and shared the menu. We chose the combo massages where there was a split between full body and feet. Accommodations were made for me as I'm current pregnant. I came mostly for the foot massage and my masseuse, although accommodating, didn't quite do it for me. She wasn't as strong as I hoped to be for my feet as they were pretty sore. I had to stop a couple of time to explain to either stay on one side or show her where is hurt the worse. On the other hand, my mom thoroughly enjoyed her massage (can't remember his name, but it was an older gentleman). Prices are very reasonable. I arrived on a Thursday afternoon without an appointment. The man at the front told me it would be about a 20 minute wait for a classic $20 hour massage. I waited about 30 and highly recommend making an appointment because this place was crowded. There were at least 5 people that arrived after me but had scheduled appointments so were treated before me right away (which is obviously completely fair). I was thankful I brought my wireless headphones because there was no way I would have been able to relax without them. Far too many sounds of people breathing, clapping, moaning, and moving around. There may have been 10-12 tables but I didn't count. It was pretty dark and everyone was pretty close together. I didn't catch the name of my masseuse but she waited patiently as I awkwardly dressed down in front of a full room of people. You can do whatever is comfortable for you so I left my pants and tank top on. I placed my feet in hot water then laid on my back on a flat lightly cushioned and toweled bed. She started with the face and head using pressure points. It was okay but I didn't like the scent of the lotion so I was glad when she moved on. She quickly moved onto the shoulders and pulled my straps down so she could work more easily. After maybe 5 minutes she moved onto my arms then returned to my neck and shoulders. Eventually my feet were taken out of the tub and she spent a good amount of time on my legs and feet (and toes). Let me add quickly that the reason my rating is 3 stars is because the entire massage felt more like a rubdown. It mostly felt like someone putting lotion on me verses massaging me. I was a bit disappointed but it's only $20 so I couldn't complain much. I just listened to my tunes and tried to enjoy it. When I thought it was over I removed my headphones but then she surprised me and asked me to flip onto my stomach. I would say that this is the point where I believe the massage finally sort of began. She hit my shoulders a little more and pressed her body weight into my lower back. She emphasized the glutes which I didn't mind since it was a female but some of that grabbing really felt like grabbing. Still, I didn't mind. I thought the massage got better because the pressure was harder and she was finally touching some of my knots. It still wasn't a very good massage but if was ok and my muscles could finally feel something vs just my skin. I think my favorite parts of the massage were when a hot cloth was used to wipe off the lotion and partially used to massage. I found myself wondering how these masseuses make any money. The massages are $20 so I imagine most people tip $5. Maybe $10 if they realize that the business probably takes 70-90% (or maybe all?) of the rate. Even though I didn't love the massage, I had to realize how hard doing that for an hour would be and how $5-10 just wouldn't be worth it. I ended up tipping $20 which made my massage a $40 massage. I don't think it was worth $40 but I guess I just felt bad. Overall, it was an ok experience but I wouldn't return unless you just want some physical touch and relaxation. I always have knots and sore muscles so I typically want something a little more intentional. Perhaps I could of spoken up (as I typically do when getting a massage) but the room was so crowded that I didn't want to disturb anyone. Plus it was a $20 massage. I can understand the high reviews if you are looking for something light and quick. I was looking for something purposeful and actually left with my shoulder feeling worse (I think because laying on the bed was uncomfortable for me). Worst massage I've over gotten. Fast and very repetitive rubbing with elbow the entire time. I enjoy a firmer massage but this was jack hammer speed and anything but relaxing. She wasn't working out the correct points just repetitive hard rubbing ...she put her hands in my hair and did so much rubbing I'm still working out the knots the day after. The lady exposed my entire butt multiple times and massaged with the towel completely below my back and butt cheeks. Sooo completely naked.
