Oasis Cafe was the first place that came up on Google Maps, and unfortunately, what we experienced was nothing short of disappointing.
From the moment we walked in, the experience felt off. We asked for a table for two, and the young girl at the front immediately asked if we wanted takeout. We wanted to sit down and enjoy our meal, so we did. The drinks on the menu seemed reasonably priced, which made us hopeful that we had found a nice little spot. Unfortunately, that was about the only positive thing we could say.
I ordered an iced strawberry matcha latte, which came out with what looked like at least five ounces of strawberry puree. Before it even reached the table, the milk and matcha were already separating, and the matcha itself was clumped together in a way that made it genuinely unpleasant to look at, let alone drink. I took one sip and immediately put it down. My friend ordered a caramel macchiato, which tasted like hot coffee poured over ice and an excessive amount of caramel syrup. It was overwhelmingly sweet and nothing like what we expected.
Hoping the food would make up for the drinks, we ordered what we thought would be two relatively simple meals: an American burger for me and a breakfast burrito for my friend. Unfortunately, things somehow got worse. My friend's breakfast burrito came out a startling, almost neon-red color that neither of us could understand. Nothing on the menu indicated that it would look anything like that, and the appearance alone was extremely off-putting. My burger was cold, and my friend's potatoes were also cold and unpleasantly soggy.
Beyond the appearance and temperature of the food, the taste was just as disappointing. We each took one bite of our entrees and couldn't bring ourselves to eat any more of them, aside from the sides that came with the meals.
What made the experience even more frustrating was the lack of effort to resolve any of this. A staff member came over to ask about our order before we had even tried the food. We explained our concerns about the drinks, and she thanked us and said she would tell the kitchen. That was it. There was no offer to remake the drinks, replace them, or remove them from the bill. We were left wondering why anyone would think that was an acceptable response to customers who had just received drinks they couldn't even finish.
Eventually, the same employee came over to clear the table and brought us a bill for $41. Despite barely touching our entrees and being unable to drink what we ordered, we were still charged for the entire experience. We ultimately left a 20% tip because we understand that service workers are not always responsible for everything that goes wrong, but the overall experience was incredibly frustrating.
Between the uncomfortable first impression, the disappointing atmosphere, the poorly prepared drinks, the cold food, and the complete lack of an attempt to make things right, this was absolutely not the cafe experience we had hoped for. We came in hungry and excited to support a local business and left feeling like we had wasted both our money and our time.
I understand that mistakes happen in restaurants, but the difference between a bad experience and a completely unacceptable one is how a business handles it. We gave the staff an opportunity to address our concerns, and nothing meaningful was done.
Unfortunately, I would not recommend Oasis Cafe based on our experience. We were genuinely looking forward to enjoying our meal, and nearly every part of the visit fell short of expectations.
