Brought my Newfoundland here in November. They did a fine job on her. Not as good of a job as our regular groomer, and my dog was returned to me slightly damp, but Happy Doggy is a few blocks down the street from us so it was convenient and I thought I'd give them a try. One thing I noticed and didn't like was that when I went to pick her up, the groomer let my dog walk from the (I assume) kennel area at the back of the building, all the way to the front of the building, past other dogs on grooming tables, without my dog being on her leash. And then when the groomer and my dog got to the double gate that separates the grooming area from the front of the store, the groomer left my dog - now unattended *and* without a leash - at gate while the groomer walked to the back of the store, and then came back. They could have opened the first of the double gates to contain her, or put her on her leash (ideally *before* walking past all the other dogs) and then handed the leash to me. But no, they just left her unattended with no leash in an area with other dogs, on the other side of the double gates away from me. My dog is sweet and usually fine but is not 100% reliably good with small dogs (and with any dog - there's no guarantee that all dogs will get along with all other dogs at all times; That's why we leash and supervise them.), and I was nervous because there was a small dog on the grooming table next to her while she was unattended. This is a safety issue. My dog ignored that dog and nothing happened, but it was woefully negligent of the groomer. And like I said above, she was retuned to me slightly damp. Not a huge deal for her, not ideal, but meh. Cost was $155 before tip. My dog's previous full groom (with a different grooming business) had been the prior August, and she had had a full brush-out (no bath) in June, 5 months before I brought her to Happy Doggy. I recently brought my dog back for a scheduled groom at Happy Doggy in March. I received a text two days before her appointment saying they did not have my dog's rabies vaccine on file. That was weird, because they should have had it on file from her groom in November. When we arrived they said they had found it, but still, it seemed like they were disorganized with their vaccine records. I had scheduled for the same groom as we had done in November. It wasn't until I and my dog were physically in the store and checked in, that one of the groomers came up to us and told us that because it had been over six months since my dog's previous groom (It hadn't been over 6 months, it had been 4), that it would be "at least $400-500" for this groom. Imo a price discrepancy like that needs to be noted at the time of schedule. I'm sure they saw on my face that that wasn't what I expected. They asked if I needed to reschedule, and I decided to reschedule with the intention to later cancel, frankly to avoid any cancelation fees, because a business that jumps their groom price from $155 to $400-500+ in 4 months, seems like the kind of place that would slap a cancelation fee on a client who needs to cancel same-day because if their ridiculous price jump. The non-transparent pricing alone is reason enough for us to never come back. Letting my dog walk from the back to front of the store off leash and then leaving her unattended, already had me questioning this business anyway, so it's probably for the best that we go back to our previous groomer or seek other options, anyway. read more

Hands down! YANG IS THE BEST GROOMER IN TOWN! My little 13lb Bischon Poodle is tiny but his bites aren't! He hates being groomed. He's been sent home so many times by other groomers, we've lost count. However, Yang is THE dog whisperer! Not only did he not get sent home without getting groomed, but he did not snap at Yang! We were shocked & thought it was a fluke. We continued to bring him to Yang and each time he comes home looking amazing! We've been taking him to Yang since 2023, before he opened his own shop. One day, we tried to schedule an appointment with him at the pet shop Yang was working at but they said he left. We were devastated! I tried grooming him myself and let's just say, thank goodness it was winter so, he needed a jacket when he left the house to play with his friends at the park. Haha... Luckily, Yang's groomer buddy reached out to us with Yang's info regarding his new Happy Doggy grooming shop. I was ecstatic! I literally dropped everything I was doing and called him immediately. His schedule was pretty booked but was able to get us in within a week. When I went to pick him up today, of course, Yang never disappoints, my lil Mochi looked perfect! Again, Yang is an amazing groomer! If I can give him 10 stars. I would! We've referred all our friends to him. You should definitely bring your fur babies to him, too! read more

Suka got a very cute haircut from happy doggy. They really take their time and she looked happy and calm on the grooming table when I walked in. The place is clean and they play relaxing music for the doggy. They did everything I asked them to and more. Her ears were super clean and they kept her eyelashes. We managed to get our boy groomed for some really important family photo shops. Yang was AWESOME, kind, patient, and did a great job with our Labradoodle. Best self-serve dog wash in West Seattle. The baths are clean and easy to use. Our (slightly fearful) goldendoodle can sit and be easily washed and dried. The staff is friendly, the whole store is clean, and I've never had to wait for one of their three washing stations. read more

I've been grooming over 10 of my dogs for over 25 years, and this was the worst grooming experience I've ever had. I walked in to Happy Doggy in West Seattle to request a certain type of grooming for my dogs and was told it was no problem. Then I brought my dogs into the shop and showed them the type of cut I wanted. The person at the desk said it was no problem and made an appointment for both of my dogs. I brought them in for their appointments and reminded them of the features I was looking for so that the groomer knew what I wanted. Later that day I was told that the groomer needed more time because he had too many dogs to groom that day and that my dogs were extremely matted. My dogs have been groomed every 6-8 weeks for over 5 years. Their veterinarian in West Seattle said they were really well-groomed dogs, and another groomer said dogs that are groomed every 6-8 weeks are not matted. When I picked them up, my dogs looked terrible, completely shaved without any of the requests I had made. Again, I was told that it was because they were too matted, so they had to be shaved. The next groomer I took them to said it will take a really long time to get them to look well-groomed again and that the previous groomer left them terribly groomed. It's been extremely disappointing, to say the least. read more

I called in yesterday about a wash and a nail trim for my 70lb black lab. Shes very temperamental about people touching her paws and ive had a couple places decline to trim them. The gentleman who worked there was super helpful and clipped them while I held my scared puppers. He was careful, friendly, and did a great job. This is the first review I have ever written. I paid over $100 to my my dog was washed and nails done. I paid extra for hypoallergenic shampoo because my dog has sensitive skin. A day after this my dog broke out in a rash over her whole body. She was itching and bleeding. I put her on benadryl and it slowly went away. I've washed my dog with hypoallergenic shampoo and she was fine so all I can think is a paid for something and they used something cheaper. So just beware with Happy Dog you might be paying for something and them just ripping you off. read more
