We've decided this will be the only pumpkin patch we come to from now on. The hospitality is out of this world. You can tell that they care so much about the people who come to their farm and not just about the business. It shines through in everything you do their. They have apple picking (which not so much right now, they had a late freeze unfortunately this year), they have a pumpkin patch, a free hay ride and an adorable store. It's so hard to leave once you get here. Oh! They also have some bbq food they sell as well that you can eat on site and round off your stay. Such an amazing place. Truly.

We came late in the year (late October) on top of an earlier freeze so of course the apples were gone but that's okay! There were plenty of normal to interesting pumpkins to choose from. There's photo stand ins everywhere so lots of opportunity for cute pictures. The owner, Tony, is probably one of the most jovial persons I've met. I can't remember the last time a business made me feel so welcome! This is also an EXTREMELY pet friendly place which you really don't find too often for things like this. You can even let your fur friend on the hay ride. My dogs LOVED it. I can't wait to stop through earlier next year to enjoy all the extras like apples, pears, BBQ (yes they have a big BBQ pit out back by the picnic tables), etc. There is a shop with homemade goodies like sauces, salsa, pickled items - all from the farm. A "deli" is attached although they were only serving desserts since it was so late in the year. Admission and parking is free too. Highly recommend. I was informed August is perfect for all the extra fun especially for apple picking!

We took a trip to the Happy Apple Farm this week and our family and friends had so much fun. There are so many different types of apples to choose from, different types of pear trees, and a pumpkin patch. Throughout the property, there are props to take photos with as well! The staff is super friendly and encourage you to taste the apples before you fill up your bag to make sure you like each variety. My kids who range from teenager to elementary enjoyed it so much that we plan to come back before the season is over. The owner Tony is absolutely amazing as well and taught my kiddo about his favorite apple he was munching on. Don't forget to take your hay ride down to the pumpkin patch! All of the pickings were reasonably priced and if you are military, there's a discount for you! Take your family or go with friends and make this your new friends & family tradition! Thank you, Happy Apple Farm for the hospitality, unique green pumpkin, and delicious fruit! We will be back again soon!

We've been coming to the farm every year since my daughter was 1 and she's now 7. You won't find a more friendly atmosphere and everyone makes you feel welcome! We just visited again last weekend for black berry picking and they're delicious! We also picked pears and will be back soon for our annual pumpkins! You're not charged for hay rides and fun like other farms. This is our favorite farm!

We had planned a day in Colorado Springs but when everything was too crowded decided to go to Happy Apple Farm. We are so glad we did! The owners are unbelievably nice. They were really dog friendly and our dogs were so happy romping around the orchard. The BBQ sandwiches were delicious. We bought pickles, apple butter, and apple cider donuts to bring home and it was all amazing. The property is absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately they lost a lot of their crop due to the frost in April but we didn't care it was just a truly "Happy" place to be. Highly recommended!

I've never seen a big apple at the Happy Apple Farm. I don't know if my timing is horrible or what, but the apples are usually half-dollar size and covered it big bites. Other times the crops have frozen and there aren't any apples available for the season. We have had some success picking blackberries. The trick is to visit on a Wednesday because the blackberries have matured over the days when the farm is closed to the public. On weekdays be prepared as you'll probably be fighting school kids for the ripest berries. And I will not hesitate to get scrappy with those whipper snappers. Maybe the Happy Apple Farm isn't really about happy apples and instead it's about letting your dogs sniff around, riding the tractor from the parking area to the orchards, and spending time with your family. Maybe that's where the "happy" comes in, and that is good enough to make me visit every year or so.

This should be called "Sad Apple Farm." The apple trees were in very sad shape. What was left were small, worm laden, apples. The cider was not ready for their fall festival so we didn't get to buy some of that, which I was really looking forward to. The parking is a big mess, at least on the day we went which was their fall festival day. You have to park along the road or driveway, there is no parking lot and no one directing cars. The berries were also picked over, so we came home nearly empty handed. I passed on the small $18 apple pies. The demand is definitely much greater than the supply for this popular place.

Not that impressed. The apple quality/quantity was poor. I'd maybe visit if I lived close by, but I won't drive an hour one way again.

It was a beautiful morning- nice and clear and crisp. The drive was about an hour and a half from Denver down Colorado 115, but because we all like to talk, the drive seemed to not take long at all. Penrose is a tiny town just 15 miles outside of Canon City, and apparently it is the apple capital of Colorado. In the distance of a mile we saw 4 orchards lined up along the dirt road, interspersed with barns and horse pastures. We passed by all the others to get to Third Street, and are so glad we did. First of all, their orchard is medium sized, but it is by no means over-picked. There was a bountiful crop of apples just waiting to be picked. And so many varieties! The honeycrisps had all been picked :( but there were plenty of gala, yellow and gold delicious, Mcintosh, and many more. They also give you those nice, round wooden tubs lined with a thick plastic bag to put your apples in. When you pay and go home, they simply take the plastic bag out of the tub. And their store, though small, sells preserves, syrups, soaps, and cider. I really wanted a bar of apple soap and the cookbook they publish that provides recipes for everything they grow - pumpkins, apples, and peaches. That way I know what to make with my bountiful produce! The owners are super-friendly and even invited us to come back with a picnic and sit in the orchard, even if we didn't buy anything! After all, next to eating fresh-off-the-tree apples, our favorite part of our visit was sitting in the shade and listening to the wind in the trees. A really, really great way to spend an afternoon, and I'm sure we'll be back. It was perfect for family bonding. I really can not say enough nice things about this place. My one word of advice would be to skip all the orchards you pass on the way and come straight here. The other orchard we went to was Ferrara's Happy Apples, which was way too commercialized, crowded, and over-picked. Choose Third Street Apples, instead. You won't be disappointed.

There is some debate on of Pueblo or Hatch chilis are the best. They specifically mentioned getting the dynamite because it is more spicy or the hottest green chili. I had to try it out. I bought a bushel of the dynamite and had them roast garlic in with it. I made some green pozole and it was very good. If you are passing through or even if it is a little out of the way it is well worth stopping. So there is more work involved, you need to de seed and a little prep to store these but in my opinion it is well worth it. Stop by and check them out.

Today I decided to call before I went so I wouldn't have any trouble & talked to a lady named Terry. When I got there an older lady was so upset because I wanted to do this. This isn't the first time that I was treated like I was a huge bother. Last year they did the same thing to me and I just chalked it up to the lady having a bad day, but I will NEVER go there again. Neither will my family. I will never recommend this place to anybody in Denver like I have in the past. We ended up going to a different farm & treated awesome by 2 very kind ladies & even got a discount for buying more than 5 bushels. Dana and Nikki at DiTomaso farm were amazing!!! They will get my friends and family future business from now on. GOOD RIDDANCE disanti farms
