What a sorry story.
I called Taylor, because we had fruit trees that needed winter pruning, and we wanted to hire locally. I left a message on the number listed here, and to my surprise, received a call from him at almost 9;00 p.m., which was a bit strange. We arranged to meet at my house for a bid at 8:00 a.m. the following Saturday.
Saturday morning came, and he was a no-show at the time arranged. But, as I was preparing to go out about Noon, this kid shows up with a car full of folks, who I later found out were his parents. He was nice enough and apologized for being late, but had no real explanation why he had blown us off. He looked at our trees and made a bid on the spot to do the work for $100. All the while he kept talking about tree stuff about which I knew nothing, so I got the impression that he knew his stuff and hired him to do the work immediately.
He came back about an hour later with another guy and, the truth be told, the worked hard, talking a blue streak about what we should do with our various trees, including three dwarf citrus trees, which had not produced. He suggested that we graft the trees to full-sized rootstock, which sounded like a good idea to me, and he promised to get me information on a price, as he and his helper dug the trees up and put them in trash barrels.
My wife paid him, and that was the last we saw or heard from him. Several texts, emails, and calls garnered no response. Finally, I sent him a text/email asking if he wanted the work, and again no response.
