This used to be the spot of White Rabbit when it was a consignment shop but now this classy decor and ladies clothing and accessories store. The style inside is very classy but fabulous with high color, lots of print, sequin and lace and edgy items from some smaller, high-end designers. I loved the Michael Aram section with some beautiful dinnerware, frames, candles and other accessories for the home. It's pricey but everything in here is unique and it was a fun browse. I chatted for awhile with Laura as I waited for my stuff crust pizza from Pizza Hut to be prepared. I was so intrigued with all the items in the store that I let my pizza get cold. They had healing stones, stones for your chakras, candles, scented oil, a variation of sage and spices. There was jewelry with good quality stones and sculptures galore. Not only was there a pleasant vibe in the store that made you feel peaceful and serene but Laura was so patient and informative as I began to be more and more inquisitive. Bless her heart. A charming sidewalk chalkboard sign greets you before you even enter the store. The handiwork on the sign is done by a local artist which speaks to the nature of Texture. As you enter the shop, you will find it proudly supports local artists of Coastal Virginia from Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Williamsburg, and more. I'm always impressed by the jewelry, hand designed greeting cards, pottery, and accessories that the owner finds for the store. She or any other "Texurette" will happily tell you about the origins of any item. The ladies who work in the shop (Texurettes, as they are fondly called) are always friendly and helpful if you are looking for something particular. They offer complimentary gift wrapping in adorable gift bags tied with ribbon. Every time I give a gift in a Texture bag the recipients eyes light up! You will find a price range for every wallet. After walking around for over an hour looking at each vendor, I decided to buy my daughter a pair of socks (they have an abundance of awesome socks) and fun snacks. As I was checking out, the lady shared that they currently have over 270 vendors within the store and that they change often. There was also a "Ladies Night" event that week which included amazing sales, live music and gift card giveaways! All of the prices were fairly decent as well. I appreciate that they consistently explain the policy so customers know the rules upfront. This past weekend, I went shopping with my mom on Saturday. On Sunday she asked me to return a pair of earrings because the closure wasn't secure. I went back to the store with the item and the receipt about 15 minutes before closing. When I brought the item to the counter, the interaction started with some not-so-inviting remarks. I asked the associate helping me if there was an issue returning jewelry, and she said there wasn't but that she needed to check the receipt because of the strict policy. Before she even looked at my receipt, another employee with reddish hair stepped in and said they had to be careful because people "try to get over all the time." At that point, my receipt still hadn't even been reviewed. I firmly explained that my mom had asked me at the last minute to return the item and that I really didn't want to come back out, but because of their policy she wanted to make sure it was returned within the timeframe. The other employee responded sarcastically, saying, "Well, your mom is right." The associate who was originally helping me then completed the return without any issue. Afterward, I quickly checked out at one shop and headed out since the stores were closing. As I walked toward the door, I could hear the same employee loudly expressing her frustrations, and when she noticed me she immediately stopped and turned away. I completely understand why a business like this needs to have a strict return policy, and I respect that. However, the commentary and assumptions made during the process were unnecessary. A simple, professional interaction would have made the experience much more pleasant.
