I'm not a good driver even on the local streets, and I don't get much practice on a regular basis. However, I did want to learn how to drive on the highway with the goal of eventually being able to drive myself to work. I like how you're not required to buy a package of lessons. Each highway lesson is $45 for 45 minutes. My lesson was scheduled 1.5 weeks in advance due to lack of openings. The night before, I received a text reminder. Upon arriving, I was introduced to my teacher within minutes despite the busy state of the office. My teacher Huda was very professional, yet friendly and calming. She gave me a brief overview and tips as I was driving to the highway and was extremely attentive the whole duration of the lesson. I was petrified but reassured by the fact that she was watching closely the whole time. Each time she wanted me to do something new, she always gave me advance notice and time to prepare myself mentally. I told her about my fear of not seeing a car in my blind spot before merging and she taught me to lean forward to eliminate the blind spot. Though I tried looking back over my shoulder and the car swerved slightly at one point, she was extremely calm and merely adjusted my wheel. Throughout that first lesson, she was very reassuring and offered constructive feedback. She also had me enter the highway on two different routes, and practice exiting as well. I went back for a second lesson today, and felt a lot calmer and more comfortable. The lesson went smoothly, and I feel confident enough to try driving with a friend or family member next time. I highly recommend Huda to anyone who lacks confidence. She is calm yet helpful and a great teacher.

Every single person who answered the phone, scheduled my lessons, and called to confirm every week was lovely - and I've been taking lessons every week since January, after never having driven a car in my life! I had most of my lessons with Vik. He's a great teacher, he'll keep you laughing but also won't let you get away with staying in your comfort zone. He gives practice tests as well, leading up to the real thing, which was very useful. I had a few lessons with Julio as well and he was great. Upbeat, relaxed, and will show you a lot of tricks that make driving so much easier. I passed my test today with only 10 points! I will be continuing my learning with a couple of highway lessons, which Alpha also offers to licensed drivers. Thank you Vik, Julio and Alpha driving school for getting me to this point!

I got tied up with work and life and didn't take the road test. A couple years later, which brings me to today, I went in to see about the previous package that I paid for, but was told the money was gone, since a year has elapsed. I'll pay a different school for the five hour certificate instead of giving them another dime.

My husband took his lessons here many years ago and also did really well on his exam. Thank you to the person who texts me reminders for my lessons every week to setting up my exam date and time, and to the driving instructor Jim. Everyone was amazing!! The instructor Jim speaks English really well and is patient. When I did my first lesson with him, I explained how I struggled a lot with my turns and he had me practice my turning for two lessons straight until I got it right and felt confident. I don't know the name of the person who texts me reminders and details but they are very sweet and personable. They wished me luck on the day of the exam. Small gestures like this really go a long way.

During my first lesson, when he asked me if I knew how to drive and I answered no, he was annoyed and angered. I paid you hundreds to teach me to drive, so why are you upset??? Whenever you make a mistake, he mutters derogatory Cantonese under his breath. He goes through things once and expects you to master them instantly; otherwise, you are "wasting his time." When you ask him for clarification, he deflects and scolds you condescendingly, "Why do you ask questions? Just follow my instructions." So when students are scared of asking questions, they inevitably make mistakes and as a typical hypocrite, he scolds you for not asking questions. His lessons are him bickering and the stress will cause you to make more mistakes, which leads to more bickering. He is on his phone for half the lesson and also cuts into your instruction time by using the restroom for almost 10 minutes out of your already limited time. I wouldn't mind if it was once or twice, but the problem lies with the school. The school smushes student schedules too closely with no breaks for the instructor, so he takes out his stress and problems on students. His using the restroom for most of my lessons cut my total lesson time by 30+ minutes, the time that I paid to learn. On top of that, he is often late to my lessons and sometimes ends it early. He constantly remarks on how many students he has and how he doesn't bother to remember their names or lesson progress, which proves how careless he is about teaching. For example, he forgot to teach me core topics tested on the driving test, so when I pointed it out, he became agitated and annoyed at me while letting out the biggest aggravated sigh. I have never seen someone roll their eyes so much. There is nothing special about his lessons. Advice for anyone still reading this: get a relative or friend to teach you the basics and then watch some YouTube videos for maneuvers like parking, 3-point turn, and reversing, then practice some more. This is how I ended up passing my test. If you feel the need, ask for an introductory lesson at a different school to practice the concepts you need more help with. It is not worth paying hundreds at this driving school.
