*Drool* As a Surfer…read moreGirl, Ocean Sports provides the feed to my addiction. Selling everything one would need to engage in Surfing, Snowboarding and Skateboarding under one roof, Ocean Sports lives true to it's name. Carrying all of the essential labels for Buoys and Gulls (even the little ones) such as Vans, Roxy and Billabong (just to name a few), Ocean Sports supplies water sport fanatics with both fashion and function. With all equipment located in the back of the shop, you can try on the latest Quicksilver Boardies up front to go with your new 6"2 board at the back. Ocean Sports also offers a wide range of Surf DVDs that can be purchased. Why not be a little bit jealous of big barrel surfing in Hawaii when it's -10 in the Channel! With an added bonus of being right beside Woody's Diner you can treat yourself to a tall stack of Pancakes after you purchase a £250 wetsuit.

Ocean Sports is a fantastic shop to go to for extreme sports gear and clothing. It's always fun to go in and browse even if you have no intention of buying anything (you always come out wishing you had more money!) The staff are very friendly and willing to help and give you knowledge on anything you may be unsure of. As well as gear for outdoor sports they also sell general surfer style clothing for men and women. They always have some lovely little summer dresses! The store is large and right on the seafront with a classic surf-lodge style of shades of light and dark blue. If you're looking to make a serious purchase on a board of some kind or even if you just need some new outdoor clothes like a decent jacket or a new pair of snowboard trousers, Ocean Sports is definitely the place to go.

Dancia International's Brighton shop was the first in a small nationwide chain. They specialize in…read moredance wear for women and children predominantly, although I believe they also stock menswear too. The window display is the stuff of little girls' dreams: purple and turquoise crushed velvet leotards, pastel tutus and tap shoes vie for your attention. Inside the shop is organized into children's and adult's leotards and accessories. They stock all manner of leotards...sparkly, velvet, long sleeved, short sleeved, practical black as well as prettier colours. All the quintessential ballet items are there too...satin points with ribbons, wraparound angora cardies and ballet bags hang from the ceiling. Alas, I visited the shop for a plain old black catsuit (the foundation for a festival costume rather then an actual dance outfit, I hasten to add!). The lady was very helpful indeed- although I felt about 15 years too old and 5 stone too heavy to be in the shop, she was very accommodating and helpful and didn't laugh at all when I tried on the catsuit! Be warned the sizing runs small in this place...I guess it makes sense, as dancers are typically teensy weensy. My catsuit was a little pricey at £32, especially since it has no sleeves!

The young, and worryingly lifeless, assistant refused to give me any help with this. It's pretty hard to get to this shop if you don't drive, so to spend almost an hour and half on the bus to get there only to be coldly told that, and this is a quote, "It takes a long time to fit pointe shoes and I'm not going to do it if you aren't buying today" and turned away was, to say the least, unexpected. I am used to professional treatment and you won't find it here, honestly (despite the inflated prices). I'd say they are a little ageist (as noted by the last reviewer) and obviously feel they have enough of a captive customer base not to need my custom. Terrible, unprofessional, and it was clear from our conversation that they know little about anything other than the brands they sell. Just awful.
