Gave a timely quote; offered our veteran a discount on Veteran's Day; arrived promptly on the date set for removal (a few weeks later) ; and took a very large tree down by noon. In order to do so they had to remove and replace a portion of our fence and manoeuver heavy equipment across a sloping yard. A difficult task performed without fuss. Clean-up was also performed adequately - just a few dents remained in the lawn. Am happy to recommend this Company. read more

Very disappointed in their clean up. Took pictures, sent to them yet still not taken care of. Fountain taken apart and moved and not put back. I am unable to lift and put back. Left heaviest part on grass! So much debris left behind, broke a bush below. They asked for feedback, gave it to them. Gave them two weeks to respond and make right, nothing! Crew was very professional. Our terrain is very hard to work with, on a hill covered in trees. We had a dead tree that was extremely large and could damage our house and they took care of it safely. We have used Hansen's for over 20 years. They are our go to. They are well trained, courteous, respectful of the property, on time and do a good clean up when done. Recently, they fertilized 50 trees and shrubs, removed 2 stumps, and are currently treating 3 of our blue spruces for needle cast. They are insured, which is huge. They have a well trained crew for taking down trees in awkward locations. They are careful not to damage your property or the neighbors. They show up on time, and carry worker's comp, which is important when people are doing work where injuries can occur. read more

I had them take down two oaks that posed a danger to my house. One minor hiccup with scheduling but otherwise each tree took a day with the crane helping to keep things from hitting utility lines and the house. Good cleanup. I'll look to them again. read more

We live in a HIGHLY wooded area and have used Hansen's a few times in the past 3 years for storm damage and diseased trees. We have never had an issue, very happy with their service and professionalism. I see from previous reviews, there are some performance issues, but were all several years ago. We've not experienced anything but highest professionalism, quality, and honest feedback, even on a diseased tree that we desperately wanted to save. I highly recommend Hansen's Tree Service. Hansens showed up bright and early this morning. I didn't even know they were here until they were almost done. I had several trees growing along my privacy fence that grow out of control. I also had a huge tree limb that had come down during a storm. Everything was cut down and cleaned up in less than an hour. The last half hour it was raining yet they made sure everything was removed and cleaned up. As a bonus they cut down an old tree stump I wanted removed but hadn't even asked about. We had a large tree fall on our house during a wind storm in May, our insurance company called out Hansen's to remove the damaged tree from the house. I was so overwhelmed and just wanted the tree off the house that I went along with it without getting other opinions. Hansen's sent someone out that night to give a quote but didn't immediately remove the tree rather said they would schedule a crew for the next morning. No one showed up the next morning and when I called the office I was told that "they weren't sure we wanted the work completed" so they didn't add us to that day's schedule. Didn't want the work completed? I had a TREE ON MY HOUSE! They came out late that afternoon/next morning and removed the fallen parts of the tree, but left the split trunk standing and would have to return since they had so many other projects. Since we now had half of a damaged tree in the yard the insurance required us to live in a hotel until the rest of the tree came down. After calling every day and leaving messages that rarely got returned It took nearly two weeks before they were "able" to get us on the schedule and remove the rest of the tree. After about 4 days the engineers said the house was structurally sound but the precarious half-tree in the backyard kept us out for longer. Although Hansen's knew the project was being paid through the insurance they called promptly when the invoice wasn't returned within 7 days of receiving it (we were waiting on the insurance check), but didn't return calls when asking about the work. During this process we also got approval to have the stump ground out after the tree was down. I called and got "on the schedule" to have the work done but never heard back from them. We needed the stump out before being able to reinstall our fence and deck. We have been waiting 4 weeks to get added to the schedule but there are excuses every time we call....the stump grinder is broken....the scheduler is out....and so on and so on. I eventually got fed up and found another company that came recommended by a competing tree service. They came and gave us a quote on Monday and are coming to do the work on Thursday. read more

I should have heeded previous reviews before hiring Hansen. I hired them to treat an ash tree that was in distress. "Supposedly" they did but the only evidence I have is that the tree became much much worse. For three days I asked to speak with the arborist who treated my tree. Each time I was advised that he would call me right back. Never happened. Wonder what he is wishing to avoid? I had a dying maple tree in the front yard that needed to be removed and a Huge maple in the back that needed trimming. Hansen's was quick to send someone out for a quote, and once we were ready to have the work done, they had us on the schedule within 2 weeks. Every phone conversation was pleasant. While this situation does not involve actual tree service, I still believe it is germaine to the conversation of whether to hire Hansen's (Hansens) Tree Service of Missouri. Briefly, this is my story. I was driving on a St. Louis highway in morning rush hour traffic. I switched lanes and found myself behind a large Hansens truck with a soft cover strapped on the top. As soon as I got behind the Hansens truck, debris started hitting the front of my car. I could see clearly that the tarp was lifting up on the truck and that the debris was coming from there. Before I was able to switch lanes, a large rock hit and broke my windshield. I called the number on the side of the truck within 5 minutes of the incident and described the truck, the timing and the exact location of the incident. The person at Hansens who answered the phone was courteous and when I gave her all of the details she said, "no problem" I will send you our insurance information. Sounds good, right? Well, long story short, after a few conversations with the insurance company they informed me that Hansen's had decided not to pay for the repair of my windshield. I asked that the insurance agent check one more time with Hansen's. I was concerned that maybe the person who answered the phone that morning was not the person making this decision. I again explained that I didn't call days later or even hours later. I gave detailed information about the truck and tried to point out "how many of Hansens trucks were traveling on a certain highway at a certain location at a certain time." The agent called back a few days later to say that Hansen's had decided not to change their mind. I am a business executive who deals with many companies and was saddened to find out Hansen's was not one of the "good guys." How does this apply to whether or not to hire Hansens Tree Service of Missouri to work on your property? What if they damage your property, what if they break something, crush a sewer line, damage your concrete, ruin your landscaping, etc? Do you think this is the type of company who would take care of you or, tell you that it was damaged when they arrived? This is not the type of company I would trust on my property. I used Hansen's tree service last year to trim some trees in my yard. The estimator was courteous and I did have to email back and forth to make sure the work I needed was done. The work was not 100% to my satisfaction but good enough. I called Hansen's again this year for another pruning job. This is where I am extremely disappointed. Last year I spent well over $1,000 dollars to have the pruning work done. I asked for an appointment for an estimate so I could be home when the arborist was here. This time I wanted the work completed 100% to my satisfaction. The answer I got from Emily on the phone is that they do not make appointments for free estimates but would have the estimator ring the doorbell when he or she came. I called back and cancelled the appointment. I want to have a conversation with the estimator when they are here. The fact that a returning customer cannot set a time for an arborist to come and see what needs to be done is ridiculous. The attitude was as if they were coming to do the work as a favor. I also do not believe it was Emily's at Hansen's fault. It is a wrong headed policy. I will call a service that can come look at my trees with me to make sure the work that I need done is completed to the request. read more

We recently had a huge 100+ year old oak tree removed from our yard by Hansens. They have been trimming and caring for our trees for years so we were confident they would do the same professional work with this big job. They delivered and then some! Josh Smith and his crew were amazing! They took great care to safeguard while masterfully dismantling our beautiful tree. It was a difficult and emotional decision to take down our beloved tree and we are grateful we had Hansens help us every step of the way. They were top notch!! read more

I only regret living next door to someone who used this service. They cleaned up my neighbor's yard after cutting a large tree but left pine needles strewn on my side of the property. They also stacked logs in front of my house which prevents me from parking on the street until they remove them. In addition, they drove a rig thru my yard about a dozen times moving material to their chipper and managed to crush the steel cages for my peony bed (and some plants) in the process. read more

Never use Hansen if you want to save yourself a headache. Problems from start to finish. Once they arrived and cut my tree down they left debris all over my backyard, ruined a walkway, and knocked over a garden Rockwall. In addition, they "forgot' the equipment needed to take the stump out and took over a week to come back. Once they did they left a pile of debris 3 ft high and 5 ft wide. I finally wanted to pay and get this behind me only to find out they don't take American express which is not mentioned any where on the paperwork (due to the cost of the whole operation it is hard to have that much cash laying around). When I called to inquire they said we don't take it and were very unprofessional. I will speak loudly against ever using them going forward. read more

I am so disappointed with Hansens.We have used them in the past when we had a tree come down during a storm a few years ago and they were great.Decided to call them again when we needed a tree trimmed to be up to city code and to find out what could be done for a sick tree. Got off to a bad start right from the get go.First time I called,the office manager wasn't in (it seems she's not in very often!) and she did the scheduling.I left my name and number with an explaination of what I needed and I was assured she would call me back.Well,she never called,I had to call again.I told her that I needed to know if they could take care of what needed doing,I was on a deadline and if they couldn't I'd get someone else.I got put on the schedule for the tree trim,was told that someone would contact me about treating the tree but it was a different division and would not be done on the same day. Again, I was told that someone would call to let me know when they would be there.Never got a call,I called again to make sure I was on the schedule was told yes,asked why no one called to let me know and was and was told,no,they only call if there's been a cancellation.They just showed up.Did get the tree trimmed but not so sure they sealed where they cut.Being the "professionals" that they are,I just assumed they did! This was the end of October,never did hear from anyone about the tree treatment,decided that I wasn't going to bother them again if they were so busy.Today,out of the blue,they show up and treated my tree.Never called to let me know someone was coming,never even bothered to come to the door to let me know they were there or to see if I had an questions,which i did,just stuck a notice under my door handle to let me know they had been there! I called the office and,guess what,the office manager wasn't there! Big surprise! I began telling the person who answered the phone,Vicky,what my problem was and she informed me I was talking to the wrong person! I told her to let me talk to the right person! So,at this time,someone is supposed to return my call and speak to me about this whole thing,but I'm not holding my breath on that!
