Watching the tree climber named "Sergio" going up my old very tall pine tree with feet and hands was amazing to watch. I attempted to use County Tree Service to deadwood my tree. They came out and gave me an estimate and contacted me several weeks later to notify me when they were coming out. I attempted to call them multiple times that same day to let them know I would not be home that day, the next day, and no one ever answered or called back. Their worker showed up the next day, as I later saw on my ring, but no work was done. I again attempted to call multiple times to find out what was going on and only received a call back a few days later to let me know they thought there were other issues that were not noted in my estimate and they wanted Ted, the owner, to look at the tree. I tried to explain the days I would be available and the woman I was talking to told me they would let me know when he could come out. I have not been able to reach them and they have not reached out to me for over a month now. Truly frustrated that I am back on the hunt for a tree service when I thought that I had it already taken care of with supposedly a good company. I recommend avoiding this frustration and just finding someone else! read more

This company had its crew at the neighbors house trimming their trees. I looked out after an hour or so and saw a guy first picking apples (handful after handful!) from MY APPLE TREE, then he started shaking the branches to get more apples to fall. Before I go on, let me say that I have no problem letting someone have some apples...we get much more than we can use from our trees...but i do have a problem with someone who enters my property univited and takes something without asking. All he had to do was simply ask and I would have told him to help himself...just a little respect for my property, thats all I ask. To make things worse, it was actually the owner of the company doing this!!! After I chewed him out, he did say he was sorry and that he should have asked first, which I appreciated very much. He did seem like a genuinely nice guy, but apparently was never taught (or maybe forgot) that you just don't mess with other people's stuff without their permission. Then had the nerve to ask if he could have the apples he already shook down from the tree. I told him yes but by all rights probably shouldn't have. Bottom line for me is that if these people have so little respect for me and my property, I have no use for them and certainly would never do business with them. read more

Stay FAR away from this company! I wish I would have taken time to read other customer reviews before contacting CTS. Lesson learned! I have never been treated in such a rude and unprofessional manner by anyone I have ever consulted with or hired to do a job at my home. A few days ago, our neighbor had a tree removed. The workmen (thankfully) noticed a damaged limb on the back of our large pin oak . We were informed of the damage yesterday. We were unaware of it due to the location of the branch. It's on the far side of the tree/facing the neighbor's yard behind us so it's difficult to see from our property. The limb grows directly over the power lines and the pole with the transformer (about ten feet above). It also hangs over part of said neighbors home. The damage the arborists at my neighbor's noticed (and Ameren's crew reported last night) was as follows - From the yard next door to the house behind mine/about 50-60 feet away from the tree - they could hear the limb make a creeking sound when the wind blew, it was weeping sap and separating from the trunk. They could clearly see a gap between the limb and the trunk when the wind blew. It was about 1/3 (Approx) of the way through. Both crews expressed concern that it could break and fall during the next storm. Especially, with the very strong winds that have accompanied most of the thunderstorms lately. We were terrified since, of course *head desk*, the weather forecast for the days following was a week of storms. We wanted to address the matter ASAP to eliminate the risk of damage to anyone's property (and a possible lawsuit) or the power lines/pole with the transformer. We called Ameren yesterday and they sent a crew last night. We were under the impression that they were coming to remove the damaged branch but they only accessed the situation and made a report to the forestry division who will remove the limb sometime in the next week. It's the soonest they can get to it. Due to the overwhelming amount of trees damaged by recent storms/high winds, they are seriously backlogged. The lovely Ameren CS rep told me they had a scary amount of situations just like this. Given recent MO weather, I'm not surprised. So, we decided to take care of it ourselves. We were scared to wait and risk the limb falling and damaging our neighbor's home and the power lines/pole with the transformer. We tend to have shit luck. This morning we called a number of emergency tree services hoping to find one that could take it down today. I called County Tree Service and told him- verbatim- how the Ameren crew and the arborists that did the removal for our neighbor described the damage. (Including their concerns about the increased risk of breakage due to storms/high winds in the forecast for the next week) He said that they could remove it today and would call me back in 45 minutes. I never received a call. The crew just showed up. (Which was fine) However, they just took a quick look and said they couldn't do anything since they were told by the owner that it was dangling and ready to fall. I never told Ted Hooss (Owner) anything of the sort. Again, I told him exactly what the other crews described. The County Tree Service band of idiots didn't even attempt to get a decent look at the limb. They didn't go into the neighbor's yard so they could clearly see the damage. They didn't climb a ladder, use binoculars or do anything logical that would have enabled them to inspect the limb (it was 30+ feet in the air). They said they would have to speak to their boss and come back another time since they didn't know what to charge. That there had been a of miscomunication. I was confused so I called Ted (owner of CTS) to ask what happened. He proceeded to YELL at me that his crew said there was nothing wrong with the tree at all, that I wasted his time and cost him money by having a crew come to my house for no reason and told me to let another company take care of it . He then hung up on me. I was flabbergasted. Two professional crews reported the exact same damage and it's clearly visible from my neighbors yard. If they are not capable of properly assessing a damaged tree, they should NOT be working in this field! Frankly, I consider myself lucky that things played out as they did. After reading a number of reviews today (after my shit experience), God knows what would have happened if they did in fact do the job. read more

County Tree Service (Valley Park) took down a large oak and removed two stumps in our yard this week. Their price was thousands less than other companies and they did a wonderful job. The owner, Ted, came out and gave us a bid the day after we called them. They were able to fit us into their schedule less than a week after giving us the bid. The crew working on the job was kind, courteous, and hard working. They finished the job completely and cleaned up after they were done. The owner and his crew were very professional and the pricing was fair. read more

If you want a professional experience, look elsewhere. I had a large elm taken down behind my home in Creve Coeur. I asked the owner to be invoiced and I received one two months later. Less than a week after that a representative came to my home on a Saturday morning, harassed my fiancee, and threatened legal action! The guy said they'd been calling for months. Guess what? Not a single message from these people. If you don't want to be bullied at your own door or treated like a criminal, use somebody else. They didn't even complete the job as asked. Two large limbs that were supposed to be cut up were left on the ground by their workmen. Look out for these people! read more
