We had a large tree that was rotten and needed to be removed. We did get quotes from a few companies to find out the process. One company told us we had to take out our fence the have the tree removed. One company told us they could only cut the tree and not grind the stump. Hansen was able to do all of the above, so basically a one stop shop. They are a professional operation and did everything they said they were going to do. They called before they came to take down the tree. They had a huge crew to take down the tree and even a huge crane that took the tree stump over our house, so we didn't need to take out our fence. They did leave the stump and come back to grind it down a few weeks later. Overall great job and would recommend. read more

Hansen removed almost 30 big pine trees from our front yard over the course of about 18 months. They were prompt, efficient, courteous, and easy to work with. The office staff, particularly Bryan, was available, responsive, and followed up to do exactly what he said he would do. Got a quote from Hanson and paid a deposit for the removal of two trees. They planned the work 6 weeks out, after 9 weeks and not hearing from them we reached out to be told they would be out in two weeks. two weeks later they cancelled and rescheduled for another two weeks....this went on four more times with various excuses ranging from worker called out sick to the crane "broke". Chased them for 5 months getting no response no answers to my phone call or call backs until I called from a blocked number. I asked for my deposit back due to the unprofessionalism and stall tactics and cancelled the service. Now I am fighting to get my money back several weeks later. read more

Not to be trusted. We asked for a quote for one medium tree and were given a price of $1600. When I said that was more than I wanted to spend, they adjusted to $500. I did not get back to them and am really glad that I didn't. They did work at my neighbors a few weeks later. A crew member went rogue and decided to topple a massive tree in the middle of our cul de sac vs take it in pieces. They ripped out another neighbors mailbox without permission. (Federal Offense). We used them for a tree removal and some trimming. The job was quoted wrong multiple times, they seemed very disorganized, twice the workers came to my house and asked me what they were doing because no one had told them. The kicker was while doing the job they completely snapped the metal hinge on my new fence gate, then propped the gate up so it would look like it was closed and left it like that. I have no idea how they did that or why they were even going through that gate as it was not necessary. Thankfully I noticed before my dog did as we live on a main, busy road. They ultimately worked with me to rectify the situation but it felt like an uphill battle the entire way. They were supposed to do stump grinding as well but after not being able to get an actual answer when that would be done in addition to all my other issues we cancelled that service. I had many estimates done for tree service.We had 5 large trees that needed to be taken down. We live on a very small side street and knew that we had to choose the right company for the job. Some companies told us they couldn't do it, one said that they would have to take down the wires and one wanted to charge us double for the inconvenience of the street we live on. Our neighbors at the end of our street used Hansen Tree a few weeks prior. I saw the start and the clean up. They seemed like a good company from what I saw. I called them and within a day the estimate was done and at a fair price. I sent in my deposit and called a week later to schedule service. The ladies in the office (Terry & Norma) are great. They explained that they have jobs scheduled ahead of mine and that they would call back to let me know an ETA. I told them that we had some work that was going to be taking place at our house and that the trees needed to be out before 10/22. Both of the ladies worked with me to make this happen. They came yesterday morning at 7am and didn't finish until 8pm. Those guys worked their tails off. Brian and his amazing crew did a fantastic job. I leave before the sun is up and they finished in the dark, so I haven't seen the actual clean up. I will add a star when I get home if it's superb. Good Job, Hansen Tree! read more

Hansen Tree service came out and gave me a great estimate very quickly. That was over 5 weeks ago. I was told the tree would be done no later than two weeks after Dig Safe came out and marked the area in my yard around the tree. Well its been over 3 weeks and the tree is still not down. Had I known this process would be so long and drawn out I would never have called them. Even the lovely ladies who answer the phones are not helpful. They only tell you what they don't know, which is, that your tree is not on the list to come down. I will give them another few days but I would never recommend them to anyone. read more

Called over a month ago for an estimate on tree removal. Hansen Tree made FOUR tentative appointments to come out to my house and completely blew me off for all four. Long time customer. Tree limb fell on roof. Paid deposit in person. Hansen never came. Tree then slid off roof suspended by small branch on roof. Called to request expedited service. Told I would get a call back. No call. Called again today. Got run around. Called again few hours later. Told Mr Hanson is sick for past several days. Can't send crew! I've used these guys a few times and have always been super impressed. Their prices are great, they show up when they say they will, and work hard from start to finish. I've always found their prices significantly less than other local companies probably because they own all of their own equipment and don't have to rent it. The quote I received on one big job was $1200 less expensive than a well-known local competitor ... and the quote also included an additional 2 or 3 small but tall trees. In my experience, Hansen has always provided a winning combination of great service, professionalism, and best prices. Just can't beat that! read more

The owners son, Bob, cut me off in his truck. He then proceeded to scream at me because I didn't release he was trying to do a three point turn in the middle of the street. He was rude, abusive and thought nothing of engaging me in his company vehicle. I've never done this before but I'm so angry I can't stop myself. I want to preface this with the statement that I am not complaining about the work this company does I am speaking about their customer service and their appointment making policies. On May 30, 2014 I negotiated with Hansen tree service of Abington, MA to do some work on the 2 large trees in my yard. I gave them a deposit and agreed to pay $950 for the work to be done. I contacted them last week to ask when they may be coming. I was told that they take 3 weeks before they come to do the work and when it's my time I will be called the night before to let me know I'm on the schedule for the next day. They called today at 4:30. Your tree work is on for tomorrow they said. I said great! AM? No PM? But I have an appointment tomorrow PM. Oh okay we'll call you another time when we're in your area. Wait, I can't request Monday or Tuesday? No, we'll get back to you. You've called me late in the day and I can't change my plans. Sorry, we'll get back to you. So far I have wasted 3 1/2 weeks waiting. I've put off using my deck because the tree needed trimming. I've now called another company to schedule an appointment for an estimate to do my tree work. I needed a huge tree that was falling down, taken down immediately. I got quotes as high as $4,800 from a Quincy company. I called Hansen tree and they came in at a very reasonable $2,900 for 2 trees!! They needed to come with a huge crane and crew of men. They came back within a couple of days of receiving quote and did an amazing job!! Foreman was so nice and personable and his crew as well. They cleaned up everything and took all the debris away. We have a double trunk maple in our front yard on the lot line. One trunk was leaning towards my neighbor's garage and with the weird weather lately, we decided to split the bill and have the tree taken down. We got several estimates and Hansen came in at the best price. They were very accommodating about when to come and they brought a crane truck and were careful about our brick driveway. They were very professional and quick, helped clean up all the brush and left some wood for my neighbor to cut up for his wood stove. They made sure to explain exactly what they were going to do and answer all our questions before beginning. They got the job done quickly and left no mess. We also wanted the large roots from the tree ground down. They went beyond that and actually brought out the Bobcat and dug the roots out of the ground. They even pruned some of our other trees. Absolutely the WORST service and professionalism I have EVER experienced from a company in my LIFE. Please do me a favor and DO NOT do business with this company. I would rather pay more for a service than to deal with Hansen and give them even 1$ of my money. I asked for a little advance notice as to when they were going to be able to service my home and it was on the signed contract. Completely ignored and called the day of and day before to say they were coming. No respect for my time, money, employment or family. Went through hoops to get every single document signed that they needed prior to performing the job.Took the day off and waited around ALL DAY for them to show up. They showed up after 4:30pm but open at 7:00am. The company closes at 4:00pm so when I was calling for an update and to speak to someone no one was available to answer except for dispatch. The rest of the crew showed up to my home and said this job ain't getting done today without even getting out of the truck. I asked why not as I have already put down a deposit, took the day off and waited around ALL DAY. I wanted to speak to the manager but none of them would call him and when I called the company number I was sent to dispatch over and over again for an after-hour call center. I overheard the conversation they had with the owner (Ed Hansen) over the intercom where he literally told the crew leave the property and not talk to me at all. I tried to stop one of the crew members(who happened to be the foreman) from leaving and told them I was a paying customer and didn't want any problems. I just wanted my job done. The foreman was very very very very unprofessional and tried to run me over with his truck. Not kidding. It got so bad I had to call the police. If there is anything you should do, its definitely to NOT do business with this company. I have no idea how they are still in business and how they have not been shut down. The reviews online that look great are lies so don't believe them, just look at all of the bad reviews. If you are looking for a company that actually cares about the money you are spending with them and actually cares about the service the customer receives Hansen is NOT the place. Trust Me! It would be in your best interest to pay a little more to be treated professionally and like a human with dignity and respect! Please do not make him or anyone that works for him rich by paying them for any services. They NEED to be shut down! read more

My experience with Hansen Tree has been great. They are professional, they give you a very reasonable price, they do prep work even into the weekend. And when the foreman and crew came out to remove my tree, they did it efficiently. They were very careful with the cutting of the tree, which loomed over my neighbor's house. Everything went smoothly and they worked even in over 90 degree heat. They cleaned up my yard meticulously after the tree work was done. This is the second tree they have removed from my property, both very large. They are very consistent in doing quality work, both in the office and out in the field. I highly recommend this company for tree removal. My neighbor has used them once for tree removal at one of his client's site. They needed to clear the land before they can build a house. His experience was exceptional as well. For both my trees which were cut separately in different years, they had to use a crane in my neighbors' yards.
