Dishonest/incomplete communication from sales person regarding a new lease. I have leased VWs for 10 years; not my first rodeo. My first two vehicles were leased in Santa Monica and they were an amazing dealership. My next two were leased from Hansel and they provided zero customer support when issues arose after signing a new lease that were not disclosed/explained by the sales chap. No one would respond to my calls and letters. I had to contact VW Financial and VW corporate customer care to contact the dealer on my behalf; I live 5 hours away and can't just walk in. My Hansel nightmare began when I replied to a text promo from Jerred T. From my first reply, I stated I was interested if I wasn't too "mid-lease" to take advantage of this trade in offer. He was eager to make the deal happen and never once mentioned or explained that my vehicle was not being taken as a trade-in, as his original offer describes. A month later, I received a bill from VW Financial for the remaining payments of that vehicle. I messaged Jerred right away. He told me to contact VW financial with questions...with a smiley face. Misleading. Deceptive. Dishonest. A sales manager named Najaf A. spoke to me briefly on the phone weeks ago and said he would call back the following day and never has. I have attempted to contact any manager at the dealership via phone, email, and snail mail; no one will speak to me. Apparently the GM told Volkswagen Financial that all remaining lease obligation were clearly detailed with me, which is a lie. I'm sure this is why they won't speak to me, because Jerred knows he did not cover this with me. I have leased 4 VW vehicles over the last 10 years and will NEVER utilize Hansel Volkswagen again! Update: The owners comments are not accurate. They confirmed that the 80K service itself can cause the battery to fail when I called. Also, they explained what the AC issue was specifically and the part that was needed (faulty cycling switch) in the estimate paperwork (over 600 dollar estimate) We ordered the part they listed for 20 dollars and the mom/pop mechanic around the corner is replacing it for us. We still had to pay the 265! As I said, in addition to purchasing this vehicle and having every service completed here, it is a sad way to end our relationship. This dealership does not value customer loyalty as prior comments confirm . Original post: Such a disappointing experience after being loyal customers. We've been serving our vehicle here (where we purchased it) since 2019 (it has 79,000 miles on it). We have had every required service and we have maintained our vehicles condition with no accidents. We just came in for the 80K service, which was around $1800! Less than a week after this service, our battery died. This can happen as a result of the service directly, so we assumed they would help with costs. Nope. We had to purchase a new battery (which can only be done by this dealership (of course) because of the VW specific battery tool thing) now we are charged an additional $525. Then, another week goes by and the AC fails. Today, we've spent $265 more dollars just to have the diagnostic. They asked for over 600 to repair the broken AC -which again, broke right after the service. Kristen and Zack are solid on the phone but not willing or able to cover any of these costs. . It's a super bummer because we have invested so much in this dealership. It seems as if there would be some room to help support customers of over 7 years of consistency and costs when the issues appear to be a result of the scheduled service. After confirming the national deal for the 2024 ID.4 S prior to visiting, I made the trip with my family to finalize the purchase. The dealership assured me the deal would be honored--I even have this in writing. However, when it came time to sign the paperwork, they presented a completely different offer and nonchalantly told me to "complain" to volkswagen if I didn't like it. Sadly I have to leave my first bad review: Hansel sold me a car with an undisclosed defect - 18 days after purchasing the vehicle, the shiny wax job they had done had faded and I took it into the car wash only to find water leaking out of the vanity light and onto the passenger seat. I brought it in for an inspection which uncovered a cracked sunroof lining and the repair estimate was half the price of the car! I hadn't even used the sunroof yet! Although I was well within the 1 month warranty, I was over the mileage by about 60 miles. I had hoped that they would treat me with the "utmost respect and honesty" they claim to have for members of their community and stand by their vehicles... I would have been better off going to a shady place on Santa Rosa Ave instead of a "family business". Who treats family this way? And risks their health and safety to save a couple of bucks? A cold-hearted monopoly, that's who. read more

Had a great experience working with Peyton and the Hansel team over 2 days. This was my second time dealing with Hansel VW as we purchased my wife's car here a little over a year ago. Day 1: came in, test drove the VW I wanted as I was exploring 6-8 different vehicle options. After the test drive was quickly delivered pricing and finance options. Not pushy or trying to lock me in the chair for hours like other car dealerships just to uncover total pricing. Was there a total of 30 minutes from entry to exit and they were transparent, helpful, and attentive to my needs. After leaving I was sent a follow up message with a video from Peyton doing a full walkthrough of the car and features to be able to show my wife later that day. Day 2: I decided overnight the value was there and they respectfully worked with me through some gentle negotiating and came to a price we were both happy with. Upon arriving Peyton had the vehicle pulled around to take my wife out for a test drive. I committed quickly now that we had an agreed upon deal. Typically here is where there is a lot of dead time but the team minimized that and had friendly conversations to not treat me just like a transaction. From entry to exit was a total of less than 3 hours. Unheard of in my experience with other car dealers. Highly recommend the team here! I see several positive reviews for experiences selling vehicles to Ben Rubinstein in the Hansel Buy Back Center, unfortunately I have had the opposite experience and would NOT recommend selling your vehicle to this dealership. I had a beautiful well-maintained 2019 AMG Mercedes which I was selling to get a more fuel efficient, electric vehicle. Ben contacted me on Marketplace to purchase the vehicle and proceeded to low-ball me when I told him I already had an offer two doors down at Mercedes. He finally matches the offer I had from Mercedes and we signed the paperwork to sell the vehicle and I turned it over on July 6, 2023. Since I had a loan on the vehicle, he told me they needed to pay off the vehicle and get the title before getting me my payment of almost $7,500. He said this process was "very quick and usually a few days". I gave him a week and started calling. He initially took my calls and told me he'd call me back which he never did. They purchased my vehicle on July 6th and didn't pay off the loan until July 17th. It is now July 31. 2023 and I have not been paid for the vehicle Hansel purchased from me on July 6th. Ben also refuses to take my calls or return them. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau and/or taking them to small claims court if this isn't resolved today. Over three weeks and they have my vehicle and I've never been paid. If there were delays - they should have been communicated and now I feel like they have stolen my vehicle from me. Very unprofessional and time consuming process. I am NOT pleased and would go ANYWHERE else to sell or purchase a vehicle. I could have easily sold this elsewhere or on my own! This is the worst purchase experience I have ever had and it has cost me $2,000 in revenue to plan to take delivery of a car that still is little more than a phantom. On Friday, Saturday AND Sunday I was told the car would be ready for pick up on Monday afternoon with fresh tires. When I arrived after an hour in traffic they would not release the car. They tried to blame hackers. I was told my car would be delivered at 4pm the next day (today). It's not here. The fact that they wouldn't allow me to test drive the car because it was in the detail shop, told me I could pick it up Monday afternoon, and nobody told me it wasn't ready until after I drove an hour in traffic and now it is not delivered as promised leads me to believe the entire deal may be fraudulent. The customer service at Hansel is the worst. Their salespeople and managers clearly have no morals, sense of responsibility or intention of following through. They've offered no solution except to continue to kick the can down the road to the next day with another empty promise of delivery. They make new excuses with each conversation. DO NOT TRUST OR BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE! They took my money, but will not deliver the car. read more

Horrible experience all around. I was super pumped to own my first EV. However the ID 2023 has been recall after recall. It's like a full time job keeping up with the recalls. There are two recent recalls since May without a remedy. The cherry on top is the socket for charging station stopped opening (not first time it happens). I was desperate to charge my car so forced it open. When I took it to dealership I was told this is a damage and not defect and was not covered by the hefty 6K insurance I purchased with the car. It was not a huge repair, however I feel so offended given the lack of integrity of the insurance provided. The company feels like a scam. Don't waste your time with this scam. For the love of God, get a TESLA and not EV ID4. So disappointed with this experience. The staff is okay, I actually feel bad for them they are working under such an incompetent leadership. If I could give 0 stars I definitely would. I am patiently waiting for the remedy for the two active recalls in order to sell the car and replace it with a Tesla. They've had my car for over a week with no status update other than the part needed wasn't ordered initially and is somewhere between California and Mexico now. But direct ship VW parts cannot be tracked. Also, they have an updating system so their customers can track the status of the repair job, but per Christian, the older techs don't use it. Michael Soriano was my salesman and he was great and easy to work with--no hard sell, no games. Jason was also great when I returned to pick up my car. Although my car was not ready at the time I was promised, Jason was helpful and made sure an Uber was arranged for me to get to work and back to the dealership to pick up my car. My only complaint (and why I gave only 4 stars) is regarding the trade-in process. I wanted to trade in my Subaru and the trade-in person gave me a low ball offer and was a little annoyed with my refusal to take the offer. He tried to pressure me to take his offer, despite my saying another place offered me more (which was true). I ended up selling my car at the other place, and returned to Hansel Volkswagen to buy my car because Michael (salesman) was a great guy and the car was a good deal. Went here end of 2024 to trade in my Camaro for something that better suits my current lifestyle. Husband and I live in a rural area, and we tend to go snowboarding relatively often. We needed something with more cargo space, better fuel economy, AWD... and my preferred list of luxuries including: Bluetooth, CarPlay, heated seats, a rearview camera, and a 4 door. We were thinking of going with a Taos or a Tiguan! Upon parking in the lot, a lovely lady walked out and approached us. Her name is Kaitlee, she was so sweet and super helpful as she was explaining some key differences in both models. We went inside, got to go over vehicle stock, and landed on a Tiguan 4MOTION S. She let us take it for a test drive, and it was soooo amazing. For a mid-size compact SUV, it sure did not feel like it. The acceleration isn't like my old Camaro, but it was pretty nice. The standard trim came with all my desires at an exceptional price point! After some careful consideration, my husband and I ended up deciding on getting the vehicle. Although we were there for a while, Kaitlee was great with negotiations, and her customer service was the best. She gave us tons of advice for our vehicle and we got to know her as a person; not just our saleswoman. We love our new Tiguan & cannot thank Kaitlee enough for assisting us in the process!
