This hannaford needs either more self check out or hire more staff. Takes longer to check out than to actually shop

So, I tend to think I am a grocery snob. I am surrounded by Wegmans and indulged on Publix when I lived in Florida for 20+ years. However, I must say I was quite impressed with this Hannaford. More specifically, we were really impressed with the variety and plethora of gluten free options up and down every aisle. I'm looking forward to the gluten free blueberry crisp I'm going to bake this week with the farm fresh blueberries we got from a local farm. All the years I lived as an adult in Maine, Hannaford and Shaw's both got our business, the former because their regular prices tended to be a bit lower, and the latter for the BOGO specials. After living in a Florida for several years, and back now for a visit, I can see I didn't appreciate them enough!i mean, the supermarkets down south are okay, but not as good as these. I missed the salad bar, unheard of down south, the bakery has more variety - well, I could go on. Not major stuff, but little things I now find I have missed. read more

Today was the final straw. I shop here only because it's the closest to my home, but I am so fed up with the pharmacy. I always give them my prescription a day or two in advance, and EVERY SINGLE TIME without fail, when I go to pick it up, they say, "Oh that will be just another ten minutes." It's clear that they completely ignore prescriptions until you come to pick them up and then fill them, making you wait for no good reason other than they are lazy. Well today, the "It will be ready in ten minutes," turned into, "It will be ready in an hour." I came back 6 hours later and IT STILL WASN'T READY. I dont see any indication of a staff shortage, still the same ammount of pharmacy techs as always. I'm switching back to CVS. Never had this issue there. read more

When we moved here from out West, we were impressed, at first, with the assortment of organic foods offered. However, when they did their remodeling a few years back, it was my correct observation, in fact, it was just a distraction while they systematically eliminated other organic choices and inserted their own, i.e., "Nature's Promise", which is inferior and that is being charitable. Hannaford is dishonest and a price gouger. Their customer service stinks on ice. If you ask them to order a certain item, their answer is they have to take what they are sent by corporate. In other words, they cannot call their soul their own, so why even have a manager. Now, along comes Market Basket. I am here to tell you it is well worth the trip from the Lewiston/Auburn area. In the long run, you will spend far less money and only have to go to one place. Here's an example of Hannaford's thievery: A product I purchase on a weekly basis is $5.00 and change at Market Basket. The very same item is $11.00 at Hannaford. It is my sincere hope that Market Basket kicks Hannaford's ass big time, and that they have to close some of their stores, because they are deplorable, disgusting and dishonest. Almost enough to drag my favorite grocery store down a star, but what do we really have for competition in this area? Okay, here's my whining Gripes: Variety. Not really a Hannaford bright spot to begin with, seems to get worse almost by the week. Some basic Hannaford label products are disappearing as well. Because this store is so big, seeing 6-12 facings of one brand instead of at least some variety generally sucks. The aisles that do offer variety are loaded with expensive/high margin stuff. Corporate bean counters are not stupid, they just hope we are. Also a bit alarming are major price increases recently. I sure hope they don't rise to Shaw's levels, or Wal-Mart will be the only affordable place left to shop. Walmart would love that, I know I wouldn't. I do like this particular store. It's not the only Hannaford I shop at, the others offer same or worse variety. In the scheme of things, this is not a huge tragedy. We could live in the 3rd world waiting in a bread line. Still a good store and to their credit, there are some improvements even since remodel. Pharmacy runs much better lately, the fish smell in the store is mostly gone, and I really like the self checkouts because they are easy, and unlike Walmart, they don't assume you are a criminal and scrutinize your entire transaction and nag you for your receipt. I am sure proper security is in place, but it's not so annoyingly obvious. Overall, very good. read more

I like this store and I shop here often. Unfortunately they don't seem to take COVID seriously. They had employees at the door counting how many customers were entering and exiting the store. I would applaud them for it normally, but they were fine allowing people not wearing masks into the store! Every single time I come here there are tons of people without masks on. I really wish they would enforce the mask policy. read more

Well I'm sad to say the quality of Hannaford products has once again taken a turn for the worst I went in today to get some potatoes so I can make a Chinese five one of our favorites I saw the potatoes we're a little on the small side but this time of year you're probably not going to get gigantic beautiful Chef potatoes so I was very selective and took what I could and this is what happened all four potatoes 100% we're rotten on the inside and you only find that out after you peel them so I plan the meal drove to Hannaford winning Pick through the potatoes paid for them gone home and 2 hours later after I peel every one of them I find out 100% are rotten on the inside read more

This store carries a decent variety of food for people with dietary restrictions like myself.

Hannaford is the best store in the area .They care about the customer.And the food is as fresh as it could be.I understand some peoples frustration towards some things that come about.Any store can have fruit or veggies rotten in the middle that means they were picked to soon by the farmer.And organic and special Items would be stocked more and stay if more people would buy them.I have asked that question too.And what stays in the grocery store is what gets bought frequently. read more

Today's visit was dissscoragin. The entryways were cluttered n dirty. Not a good welcome for customers expecting a clean n organized environment. Found a need to use the ladies restroom n it was poorly maintained, filthy stalls with the handicap area especially discusting, n out of the 3 stalls only 1 had TP. Thete was also no hand towles to use after washing hands. I understand your store is busy, but as a customer especially in a food environment things should be comfortable n super clean. read more

I have been visiting Hannaford since I was a child. I watched the change over to Shop and Save and back to Hannaford. I am truly impressed with the changes and improvements that the store has made in the past couple of years. But I do want to note on a change I am not favorable of. I get salads often from Hannaford, they are convenient and nicely priced. Since the change in layout though, I am constantly bumping into people walking past the salad bar, and I have to bend down to reach in t get things under the glass (which I find to be completely ridiculous). I'm only 5'7, I can only imagine how much more frustrating it must be for someone who is taller than I. Also, I dislike the inconsistency of things on the salad bar. I go in expecting to put various things on my salad that were there last time I visited, and they are not this visit. I lose my appetite a bit when I can not satisfy my cravings. On this particular visit, means were warm, dressings were not chilled, and the croutons are soggy. I am unimpressed. In terms of other departments of the store, I have had good experiences with my purchases. Produce is fresh, clean, and well stocked. Meats are fresh, tender, and well packaged. I appreciate the customer service at this Hannaford, as well as the well stocked and clean aisles. I do see some handicapped customers struggle to get around the tight corners, which is a bit sad to have to watch. Overall I am pleased with the service, but there are improvements that can/should be made. read more

A very well stocked grocery story. High class selection is helped by the Nature's Place aisle which provides a condensed selection of Whole Foods like items. Good selection of fruits, veggies and meat come marked organic, although there are no free-range claims, mostly just anti-hormonal. The woman who works behind the seafood counters on weekday evenings (they close up about an hour before the store does,) is chatty and will make recommendations, even come around from out behind the counter. Checkout isn't too bad, always a decent if not abundant number of cashiers, and cart returns are aplenty in the lot. read more

so basically there was shit smeared all over the fucking BATHROOM I GAGGEDDDD UHHH. when i tell you i fucking threw up. the grocers were complete ass . they put my fucking tomatoes in with canned goods and when i tell you i had KETCHIP IN THE BOTTOM OF MY GROCERY BAG OM GOING FUCKING CHOKE IM ACTUALLY RAGING. SOME FUGLY BITCH SNEEZED INTO HER HANDS AND THEN GRABBED MY APPLES AND ORANGES IM ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGED AND SMELLED MY APPLES LIKE WHAT THE FUCKKKKKK. two cashiers wouldn't stop fucking talking. all i wanted was to cook my wife a nice dinner but no these dick wads had to have a whole conversation about their fucking dick cheese and abortion. but i wouldn't change it. 5 stars read more
