In Maine we sell alcohol in CVS, Walgreens, Hannaford, Shaws and many other types of establishments, but Mr. Rooper, prior to his passing in 2022, built an empire of Rooper's Beverage stores that is well known for their inventory and bottle redemption services. If you are unable to find what you are looking for, they will try to find it for you. They found me a Jack Daniels Sinatra bottle that is very limited and they called me the second they got their hands on a bottle. Rooper's is a Maine staple and their staff is always friendly and accommodating. Mr. Rooper did a tremendous job building his business and expanding to other locations. I applaud him and his teams for continuing to raise the bar and set the standard for customer service.

Their fruit selection also looked very fresh. One of the associates was especially helpful when I asked where to find an item. she even used the store app to track it down for me. Overall, Hannaford isn't a budget supermarket, but the quality is excellent, and they offer a nice variety. For me, their prepared foods are the real standout.

That being said, their pizza is utterly terrible. I know, I know, no one actually goes to a grocery store to get pizza. Well, I was curious and just had to try it. The pizza I had tasted old and crusty. The base and crust were thin and crispy, but the crust was totally flavorless. The sauce was decent but the cheese was what you would expect from a slice being kept warm for three days on end. This is even worse than I expected. Again, I'm giving the store a good review for their ability to provide all the other things a grocery store should. Just don't expect good pizza.

My last three drop offs were not credited the full amount that was dropped in the lobby. The possible reasons that I was given for the short in my account were: 1) The stickers fell off the bags 2) Someone may have placed their stickers over mine or removed my sticker to replace it with theirs...a chance I take with "drop off". 3) There might have been something "undesirable" in the bag & it was thrown out 4) Sometimes that happens I went to check the balance after my last drop off & the computer & the employee could not identify my account number. It's temporary but my students in sixth grade Absolutely loved this candy for the tattoo and the super blue sour raspberry powder inside it all fades away within seconds, but oh what fun! What's amazing about these little gas stations in the middle of nowhere is that they typically have pizza wings and subs and everybody seems to stop there. It's a great way to get a feel for the locals when you're traveling.
