I hesitated to write this review since I had already posted one not too long ago. However, something compelled me to express my thoughts again - it's the fact that Hanna never fails to amaze me. The word 'impress' doesn't quite capture it. The more fitting term is 'move' - Hanna has a remarkable ability to touch me with her talent, empathy, and teaching style that goes beyond mere intelligence. Her method is not only smart but also instinctive, revealing a talent that seems to be innate to her. There are countless teachers with impressive education and credentials, yet they lack Hanna's natural gift for adapting and tailoring techniques to suit the learning style and temperament of each student. I feel incredibly lucky to have discovered Hanna. My lessons have advanced to a level I never thought possible at my mature age. I studied piano at a young age but stopped in my teens and resumed again later in life, and this, again, is so amazing because Hanna also teaches children! Hanna has introduced me to more challenging pieces because she has a profound and instinctive understanding of my abilities, and motivation, even when I doubted myself. For that, I am deeply thankful. A piano student truly needs a teacher like Hanna, who has the ability to subtly encourage them by introducing the right pieces at the right times, emphasizing confidence, the enjoyment of beautiful music and the steady enhancement of the student's technical skills. I have used tutorials in Youtube by excellent pianists, but Hanna's instructions resonates because it is so personalized to my learning style as I am sure it is with all her students. We have just started taking piano lessons with Hanna for my almost 7 year old daughter. We started in a piano class 8 months ago that my daughter loved. The class ended, didn't have a second level, so we tried two teachers that really didn't fit, and my daughter was pretty turned off of the idea of piano from that. Not good. Then we started up with Hanna- and things are good again. Hanna has an energy that my daughter really responds to. She has an honest and engaging laugh, and interacts with my daughter in ways that makes my daughter feel connected. That's huge. From there my daughter is hooked in and everything follows. She is skilled a picking up on the voice and style of singers and she is very patient and understanding of your individual needs. Hanna is an amazing piano teacher. She taught my daughter for three years, starting when she was a complete beginner at age 5. Under Hanna's direction she has blossomed into a pretty talented little musician! She's developed solid technical skills at the piano, but perhaps more importantly also has a love and appreciation for music, and that is thanks to Hanna's guidance. I started with Hanna, my piano instructor January of this year (2012) with the purpose of finally being able to learn the piano at my leisure. I am an adult with no musical background and I was looking for an instructor who could accomodate a beginner like myself. I contacted Hanna and started lessons shortly after and I am extremely satisfied with my decision to pick her as my instructor. She has been nothing but patient, flexible, constructive, and her fees are very practical. I would also recommend her to children since she has a very thorough teaching background. Hell, I would recommend her to anyone because she is just so damn wonderful and welcoming. She always takes her time to make sure I am learning the material and makes the necessary adjustments to follow my learning pattern. Her skill set is amazing and perfect for teaching. Hanna is a great piano teacher! I had wanted to learn how to play the piano my whole life, so I finally decided to dive in and take lessons. I couldn't have made a better choice of teacher. Hanna has really helped me greatly. She has the perfect balance between patience and push. Plus, her rates are reasonable. Hanna is absolutely wonderful. My now 9 year old and 7 year old have been taking lessons for almost a year now. She is very talented - not only as a musician but as a teacher. My younger one was a true beginner and the older one had just under two years of lessons previously. I explained to Hanna at the beginning that I would like my oldest to be able to practice independently, and she found the right pacing for growth. He has improved so much; it's a joy to listen to him practice - all without my help! I got the pleasure to work with Hanna for a concerto competition last year, and she also accompanied me in my last masters recital. She is absolutely one of the best musicians I have ever worked with in the Los Angeles and Orange county area. I found Hanna through this Yelp page and am lucky that I did. I took piano lessons for a couple years when I was younger, and went on to study music in college for a year and a half. After getting my piano tuned a few years ago, I decided to take lessons again and found Hanna. I have been taking lessons from her for about a year and a half now, and Hanna has been an excellent instructor. Easy going enough that if I don't get all my practice time in she doesn't make me feel bad, but with her positive demeanor she makes me want to work hard and impress her every week. Her teaching style is creative, as she always finds an effective way to help me work through the challenging passages. I have seen her younger students improve at every recital she has organized and can tell that they enjoy taking lessons from her. I can't recommend Hanna enough for students young and old. read more
