I've been training at the US TAEKWONDO Academy for over a year now. I am a green belt now and I am…read morevery happy I found this studio! Here's my experience over the last year: The studio holds annual parties and get-togethers for all ages. There are many families who participate, even adult students like myself. There are also adult specific events (karaoke, bowling, etc). Grandmaster Park fosters a sense of family community within the studio making everyone feel welcome! Testing opportunities typically occur every two months with specific requirements to qualify for testing. There is a unique system in place to keep us on track and prepare for testing. Our Masters and instructors work hard to make sure we understand what is required. Regular emails and announcements are made on an easily accessible group app, "Band". Fees are dependent on how often we want to attend and affect our ability to advance every two months or so since a certain amount of classes are required to be eligible to test. Grand Master Park provided clear information about the fees process and made sure I understood and got a copy of the policies around payment during enrollment (I took a picture of the paperwork to keep for my records). I'm not sure why others have had different expectations but I personally have had an adequate experience dealing with the financial side of the studio. This is the largest studio in America and GM seems to run a tight ship, which I think is fair. Our Masters and Instructors have different teaching styles and bring different strengths to each class. But they all push you to be your best self by instilling values and knowledge to help you succeed, and make themselves available if you have questions or need help. They offer private lessons too. They teach us that Taekwondo is more than just a sport, it is a lifestyle of self-discipline, trying our best and respecting others - a great approach to life as a kid or adult. And they make sure to have fun too! I joined the studio because I practiced taekwondo in middle school for a short period and wanted to get into regular exercise as a 40 year old acutely aware of the coming years of aging! Every class is different and there are so many things to learn that I'm never bored with what I'm practicing (poomsae, kicking, sparring, conditioning etc). The Instructors regularly incorporate new drills while reinforcing focus on fundamentals. Our Grand Master has run his Taekwondo studio for 38 years, was a US National and Olympic Taekwondo Coach, and holds a record 14 champion titles in Korea from a robust sparring career! He is a huge advocate for health, wellness, self discipline and creating happiness, and encourages us to take care of ourselves, have fun and work hard. I attended the annual Korea Training Academy trip in July 2024 and it was AMAZING. Master Park coordinates with the Korean government who hosts the international academy to give us an opportunity to train where Taekwondo originated! Familes and adult students are all welcome to sign up. He also adds tours specific to our group to see other parts of South Korea while we are there. He has been doing this for going on 20 years!! Overall I'm extremely happy with my experience at the US Taekwondo Academy. I didn't realize how personally this sport and community would affect my life and health. And I've made new friends! I'm always working towards a new goal and feel I have great support from the masters, instructors and other students. I'm so impressed when I see young students work hard and discipline themselves. You get what you put into this, and there is plenty of opportunity for anyone to put in the hard work and focus to feel good about themselves and have fun! I'd definitely recommend this studio!

THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM!!! DONT PUT YOUR CARD ON FILE!!…read more I would not recommend this studio based on my experience with their billing practices. After I canceled our services, I continued to be charged month after month. When I contacted them, I was told that my account had only been "paused," even though my understanding was that I had canceled the services. We have not used their services in months, yet they continued charging my card. What is especially frustrating is that they were aware we had not been attending and still chose not to refund the charges. I do not feel that this was handled honestly or fairly. Be very careful about leaving your card on file with this company. I would strongly recommend keeping a close eye on your statements and confirming in writing that your account is completely canceled, not simply paused. Very disappointed with how this situation was handled and the lack of accountability when I brought the issue to their attention.

Master Lee = Amazing. We chose this studio over two years ago and I have watched my kids grow in body, mind and Spirit (no pun intended). The staff here from Master Cyril in the older days through the current staff have been nothing short of great. They are delicate where they need to be and tough when needed. They very much specialize in children. The studio has built and maintains a community feeling. They have definitely served the youth of La Mirada and the surrounding community by teaching discipline, confidence and self defense. They even participate in local tournaments if you are ready and they echo that sentiment. The sport of Taekwondo is definitely a great introduction to martial arts that develops flexibility, strength and balance. I'm very appreciative to Taekwondo Spirit for what my children have learned through them. Humility seems to flow through this place with nothing but respect given by and to everyone. The only "negative" I could even consider about the location is that the parking lot could get tight in the afternoon hours with the neighboring gym.

I had tried another studio in Whittier who are through the Regional Center (Victory Tae Kwon Do) but unfortunately even free lessons through were not worth it in comparison to here. My son was trained by master Cyril for about 1 year before their lack of availability and our school schedule conflicted to the point of no longer being able to fit us in. The studio is small so understandable, just sad. I realize teaching autistic kids is not their specialty, but I had gone to one other local studio in La Habra that basically turned us away because they didn't want to do the hands on work it takes to teach a child that lacks imitation skills, while another in Fullerton was extremely overpriced and for only 15 minute sessions in addition to being too far. I hope to come back to this studio soon if they have the availability.

We believe that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts and that we can accomplish far more together than we can on our own. We strive for our students to develop physically, mentally, and spiritually. We aim to teach all students to gain a full appreciation of martial arts as a whole (technically and philosophically). Therefore, we study multiple martial arts since we believe all martial arts are of value as long as they are studied completely. We welcome all students regardless of age or physical limitations because we believe that martial arts training can benefit anyone who wants to learn. Our training is not only physical and includes skills valuable in daily life including discipline, concentration, teamwork, respect, self-control, and confidence. We are dedicated to teaching students to learn valuable life skills they will use for the rest of their lives. We do this by creating a positive, hard-working, team-building environment and by having instructors who serve as role models for all students to look up to and be their guides in their martial arts journey.
