And let me be very clear, I wasn't dressed like Julia (IYKYK). The clothes are cute but the OLDER blonde lady needs to get into another business if kids walking into her shop pisses her off. I went there with my very well behaved 3 year old daughter and she was hovering around us the whole time, telling my kiddo not to touch things and watching us like a hawk. I very politely put her cheap unicorn toy back and walked out. I couldn't believe how rude she was. I'm taking my business elsewhere and I'll tell anyone in this city to NEVER go here. Ahead of Small Business Saturday, a day I like to live as often as possible when I shop - here's my 2200th review for the sweetest little shop, perfect for gifting the cutest handmade gifts all year round. I pass by this store quite frequently, some weeks it's nearly 7 days a week if I walk to Alfred, other weeks it may be less. They've been here for quite awhile if my memory serves me correctly and the items hanging outside are always super adorbs! I really have zero reason to make a purchase from here, so I briefly admire their items out-front and then I'm on my way. Today, after my iced oat latte from Alfred and bran muffin from Joan's I spotted to cutest little holiday romper. I absolutely could not pass it by! It didn't take long for me to rack my brain and figure out who had a daughter or son (really, the two prints used to create this piece are totally versatile and I'm not into she/he clothes, I love Harry Styles in dresses and skirts) but right away it dawned on me, my bestie has the cutest little cousin who would wear a size 2-3. I immediately asked if they had this size and they did and welcomed us in so warmly. We wandered inside for the first time and this boutique is VERY well stocked. The vintage style patterns of fabric are my absolute fav. I knew with zero doubt I was purchasing this little fit just in time for the holiday season. Bianca provided 5 STAR customer service, very sweet, helpful and friendly. I selected a little gift tag and my selection was packed up so nicely for its recipient. I highly recommend Hankie Babies. It's the sweetest little small business, and where I may not have a real need for children's items on a regular basis- if you are looking for a handmade item for a special surprise or gift giving occasion this is an exceptional place to shop for the little tikes. I really need to find out where they are buying their fabrics because they are always so super cute. They take Apple pay which should really be the standard for any business. I just left this adorable shop owned by one the sweetest business owners ever, Bianca! I could have stayed and shopped for my 5 year old son all day as there are so many fab finds but she waited for me (stayed open) with some outfit ideas ready. Unfortunately I was scrambling trying to find an outfit for a funeral tomorrow. I called Bianca who went above and beyond and was extremely empathetic to our family loss. I've been coming back to this store for cute gifts and unique children's toys for the last 8 months. Every time we go, the kids are treated so we'll and the service is above and beyond. This is truly a unique store and you can tell by the lovely faces and beautiful homemade art (one of which is very special to us and hangs in our nursery). Bianca seems to be always there and ready to interact and help. Like how it used to be when you walked in a store and the people there didn't just want to help, but also chat and build a relationships with their customers. In some boutiques you expect to pay more. I just bought a Zubels you that is $12 marked over what the toy is online at zubels website. Shame on me for just thinking it's cute. I understand some mark up but that's a bit much don't you think? I gave them 2 stars because they do have cute stuff but I feel a bit gauged after that. But the older lady with blonde hair that works here is the rudest to the children. Kids are kids and you work in a kids store! My kid is well behaved and wasn't being a little monster at all. Seems she needs to find somewhere where many kids don't come in. The only reason I look at the zubels Website when I got home was because the toy was cute and wanted to see what else they offered then I saw my purchase, selling for $18 not $28! read more

We walked in hoping to find something cute for my 4 month old to wear for his baptism. The store and staff did not disappoint. I could not believe how many choices they had and how much help we received. The saleswoman insisted that we try everything on our son the make sure it fit. She even entertained him as we pulled shirts and pants on and off him. We walked away with two unique and adorable outfits. As anyone with little boys knows, it is hard to find dressy things for little boys. We ordered a few things from Carters online, only to be told they were sold out of those items. After very little time in this store, our child was outfitted to the nines. To be sure, this store will not always be in our budget, but for a worth it splurge, I highly recommend it. read more

Really great place! I'm a dude with an eye for cute and for quality. This place is packed with both! Tiny store filled with tons of special little stuff for both little ladies as well as little gentlemen. Found a beautiful soft purple t- shirt adorned with a felt flappy eared elephant. Sticking with the theme I found a wonderfully silly elephant hand puppet made of repurposed old sweaters. I visited three other baby gift shops in the area, they were limited in styles and really expensive. Looking forward to my next visit, happy I know where to go for my littlest of friends! read more

I've been to Hankie Babies several times over the last couple of years and have bought some truly unique and wonderful gifts for my friends' kids so I was especially disappointed and incredibly offended by the experience I just had which has compelled me to write my first EVER bad review on Yelp. Here is what happened: I went in last week to buy a gift for my friend who is expecting and was helped by a very nice woman who spent a great deal of time walking me through the store and suggesting different ideas. I settled on some "BabyLit" books (Anna Karenina, Romeo & Juliet, Sense & Sensibility, Wuthering Heights for babies, super cute!) and made a point to ask if they would be final sale or if I could exchange them with a receipt if I needed to for whatever reason. The lovely sales woman pointed out that no one ever returns books but if I needed to, I could bring them back within 30 days with a receipt. Well I gave the books to my friend and low and behold, she had already bought the entire series so I told her I would exchange them for her for some other books. So I went in this afternoon with my receipt to exchange them and there were two different women working who very quickly told me that it's store policy to not exchange or return books. I explained to them that I specifically asked about the exchange policy when I bought them and that I wasn't looking for a refund, I just wanted to get something else, and they told me that I should have never been told that and that it was a mistake. I went on to ask them to please make an exception since I would have never bought something that was final sale had I not been told otherwise and this was a mistake on THEIR employee's part. After some back and forth one of the women agreed to take a look at my receipt and proceeded to inspect the books and quickly told me that even if she could take them back she wouldn't because they are damaged and she would have never sold them in that condition. Had I not been completely taken aback by the fact that they were accusing me of trying to game them and return "damaged" books, I would have pointed out to her that when I bought them I had to pull from the very bottom of each stack as several of the books they had on display had bent corners or frayed sides. I bought the books that were in the best condition and brought them back to them in the exact same condition that they sold them to me. It became clear that I wasn't going to get anywhere reasoning with these women who kept pointing to their "exchange policy" signage which only spelled out that exchanges can be made within 30 days with a receipt and made no mention that books are an exception to said policy. I gathered my "damaged" books and left before I got angrier and that was that. I had recommended this place to so many friends because they really do have great stuff but they clearly don't care about the few customers they have (every single time I've been in there I've been the only one) as evidenced by how rude and condescending they were to me. I love to support small, local business but this place is forever off my list. The woman who owns this store is rude and clearly hates children. Every time I have gone in here with my daughter she has been visibly disturbed any time my daughter even gets close to a toy. On our most recent visit, as my daughter (standing about a foot away from me) gently picked up a stuffed animal from a basket she loudly & patronizingly exclaimed, "MAYBE YOU SHOULD WATCH YOUR CHILD A BIT BETTER". Wow. Maybe you shouldn't own a kids' store if you don't like kids. I told her that was incredibly inappropriate and that I'd be leaving her a Yelp review. This is an amazingly charming and wondrous store for children and people who love them. It's a small store filled to the brim with one remarkable find after another. There isn't anything in the store that was not carefully hand picked by the owner. The first time I walked in, I thought I would pop right in, then pop right out, but I found myself engrossed in the astonishingly large number of beautiful handmade dolls, jewelry, clothes, books, costumes, toys, I could go on and on. Every item is special and the entire store is expertly curated by the very talented owner Daria. She makes by hand every single hankie dress and many of the other items in the store. Every time I've walked in, (my children and) I have been greeted with big smiles and hearty greetings. We've always felt welcomed by everyone there. I'm new to the area and I feel so very lucky to have happened upon such a special store run by a very friendly and knowledgable staff. I have never been to a place where the staff was out right rude. I walked in with my family and young daughter to check out the merchandise. My daughter was looking at the toys and cards and the woman working there gave us the rudest look and was very dismissive of us as customers and was very rude with my daughter. Mind you, this is a children's store. I would expect better service and warmer personalities especially for a children's shop. If you do not like kids and apparently this woman did not, she should not be working there. I will never step foot inside this shop again. read more

A seriously magical store for kids. The Hankie Babies clothing line is darling and the curation of the rest of the items in the store is incredible. I've been into the store many times and there's always a ton of cute new items. Plus, the owner and her staff have always been truly friendly and helpful.
