Let's say you wandered into a doctor's office, they don't take walk-ins either, but they will give you information if that's what you need. So. . . I came in to see how expensive mastectomy bras are and the owner asked me if I would be paying out of pocket or through my insurance company. Gosh, I did not know insurance companies pay for that kind of stuff because in the 8 years since my diagnosis no one from my health care team ever expressed an interest in helping me obtain post mastectomy gear. Based on her suggestion I did ask, and although neither of my doctors (male) had any idea what I was talking about, there was a breast care coordinator who worked for the insurance company, who contacted me and one week later I had an appointment at Althea's to get what I needed. To be properly fitted takes 45 minutes to an hour - and this is why you need an appointment. I recommend talking to your insurance company first, before making an appointment, since if they say "no" you're no worse off than before, and if they say "yes" you could save yourself hundreds of dollars. For this information alone I would have rated this place a 5. She had more information for me than anyone in any of my health care teams in the last 8 years had. (I had a different team when I lived in Kern county, plus a different insurance coverage at another time.) No one from any of these three teams ever mentioned specialty bras or prosthetic breast forms. However, I also felt the care I received during my appointment was worthy of a good rating. There was no rush and I got to try on different styles, colors, my needs were considered. It was all very thorough. If you or anyone you know is dealing with breast cancer, this is a great place to find a bra.

After waiting the five-year wait to get a new leg. I finally went and got a new leg. I explained…read moreeverything to the new dr. My existing leg could never be worn without packing gauze in my open wound and wrapping the gauze all around my leg. The pressure sores were treated in the same manner. When the prosthetic leg was measured I was told it was 2" longer than my real leg so this prevented me to walk. When my new was made it weighed 3lbs. Old leg weighed 16lbs. 2 " reduction was taken into account and both areas of pressure sores were addressed and it never happened again the eruption of painful sores. So after 5 years new leg a fraction of the size, no sores, 2" shorter now even with my real leg. I could fly! Going to a totally different dr made all the difference in the world. Regarding the rebuttal on my original post by their front office I must say it was incorrect. I never failed an appt as you stated I did. I DID CHANGE my appt with plenty of notice since this was during Covid, and I had Covid. I worked in the field of dentistry for 52 years so protocol on changing appointments was something I had many many years of experience. I CHANGED THEM NOT NO SHOWED THEM. I hope Login sticks to the administration part vs actual 1 on 1 patient time since he can't seem to tell the truth.

Avoid…read more My podiatrist took one look at how ridiculously shaped they were and knew right away why I had been feeling as if I were walking on rocks. You should NEVER have to get used to orthotics. They either fit or they don't. You are also not supposed to step down into foam. Never apply pressure. He's going to send me to a proper clinic now. I was also told by the Hanger Clinic prior to receiving the orthotics that I'd have to size up or a 1/2 a size. I come back with two pairs, just in case, and they tell me I shouldn't have to size up. Um? Orthotics don't make them the big bucks. Prosthetics do. Medi-cal clinics don't care if they get it right or not. Don't wait and wait in pain just to feel worse.
