After a meeting with my mother, and clear explanations of what we needed and her mobility issues, we got a quote from Cam at Careful Cut. After a few days of working on the project, Cam told my mother the work was done. Being a trusting person, my mom paid him. The work was not done. There was a large gap between the house and the railing (unlike the railing that was replaced) which was a major safety hazard for an elderly person. See picture. The railing that was there was splintery and not sanded. He also missed a number of spots when painting. We contacted him and asked him to complete the work. At first he said he would "see what he could do about the railing and that the door was in the way". Note that the door was only in the way because he forgot to account for door opening when building the steps. When, a few days later, we asked him again when he could finish the job , he sent a rude message then ghosted us. We had to hire someone else to finish the work. Do not hire Cam at careful cut carpentry

We were scheduled to have our property re-painted in July 2020, but since we were out of State in…read moreMay, and in deference to the Covid Virus, the painter wanted to do the job during My in our absence. The over-all job was done very well. JWD did a very responsible job of repairing quite a bit of deteriorated wood, and the over-all paint job was very well done However I paid then in full when they said they were completed, big mistake. It is details that were not finished properly, such as: 1. Paint over spray on many windows, which JWD said were from a prior painting; several of those areas are on windows 100% renewed since the last job, 10 - 12 years ago. 2. Our white Chevy Suburban, which was in the garage, has a good amount of over spray on its rear end. 3. A sill on the bay window in the dining room, has started to deteriorate, JWD started a filler type repair, but left it entirely unfinished. 4. All of the shutters were re-hung, but never screwed back to the house to prevent them swinging in the wind. JWD and I have had several texts, e-mails, and phone conversations, and he has promised to come complete the job, but it is going on 3 months now, and no one has showed up.

Jeremy's team remodeled the entire downstairs on my home. I was hesitant to make these big changes…read morebecause remodels are not cheap. Jeremy worked with me to help us pick out materials that were affordable but still great quality and he worked with my budget all along the way. He really transformed my old split level into something I could be happy in again. Keep in mind we had not done any updates in about 20 years. I wish the pictures did this place justice because they do not. The crew overall was knowledgeable, professional and kept to themselves. I would highly recommend them and would hire them again for anything. 2 of my family members/friends have since hired them for exteriors. You can trust JWD Painting, which is always a big concern for homeowners and I had nothing but a smooth process from start to finish. There were touch-ups, but Jeremy came back and personally took care of them all.

I contacted a number of contractors to inquire about repairing the concrete floor in the basement…read moreof my 80-yr old home in Portland. Jamie from Custom Concrete of Maine was definitely the right person for the job. He replied to my online inquiry and came to the house to check out the project within 24 hrs. He gave me a detailed cost estimate before he even left the house. The next day, he worked a 10+ hr day and completed the project. He communicated clearly with me about the extent of the work; he told me when to expect him at the house; and he gave me project updates along the way. Based on my experience with other concrete contractors in the area, Jamie's rates are very reasonable. In the end I was happy with the repaired floor. He's one of the good ones and I wouldn't hesitate to work with him again!
