I came in to Hands On with really terrible chronic sciatic nerve pain. It was causing loss of sleep and made it hard for me to move around like I need to. I worked for many years as a massage therapist and back office chiropractic assistant and I'm pretty picky when it comes to chiropractic care. I can find a doctor that I like but there's no massage, or a massage therapist but I would leave needing an adjustment. I really wanted it all in one place. Well, here's that one place!!! Off a referral from a friend, I made an appointment with Dr. Trista Shelton... and after that first appointment, I stopped shopping around! This wellness center is FANTASTIC!!! Not only is Dr. Shelton an awesome doctor, but she's a pretty bitchen chick too. Really takes the time to talk and find out what's going on. Along with her tender, yet effective, adjustments, she offers a roller table and muscle stem therapy.... and fun conversation. Inside this wellness center, there are two chiropractors and several massage therapists (and one of those is a shiatsu masseuse, Nori, he's powerful!). I, personally, found a favorite in both Nori (for shiatsu) and Evelyn (for deep tissue and endermologie). There is also acupuncture, healing practitioner, fitness trainers, and hyperbaric chamber. At the front desk, where the super sweet and friendly staff greets you, you can purchase a variety of helpful items such as CBD lotions/tinctures/gummies, Juice Plus vitamins, and other health focused products. My insurance covers my treatment with my co-pay, which is super helpful. Make sure you ask about cash prices vs insurance prior to appointment, however they are pretty thorough with their on-boarding process. The location is unassuming since it is in a small business park, but don't let that stop you from booking an appointment. The office is very nice, professional, and well equipped. More importantly, the staff is top notch. They are on time, professional, and caring. This review is for Chiropractic Services only. I was having back pain and after reading the reviews I decided to give it a try. I called for them to see if my insurance covered part of the cost, I was told that I was out of network and that the first session was going to cost $75 and after that $45. They suggested not to go through my insurance, I thought it was a reasonable price so I decided to go. The first time I waited around 15 min for Trista, She was very helpful and she adjusted me and left me feeling way better! The second visit I waited 30 min for her, the third one 45 min... and I couldn't wait anymore so I literally walked out of the door without an adjustment. What upsets me is that they have a very strict $25 dollar charge if you don't cancel within 24 hrs but the chiropractor can take up to almost an hour after your appointment time to see you and nothing happens... just Wow! I've been going here for deep tissue massage therapy on my back for two months. Joleen does an excellent job. Deep but not to the point where it's painful. My back has been jacked up and stiff for years and I see improvement from my treatments. The facility provides additional services, including Chiropractic care and Acupuncture. I continue to go here for Evelyn who gives GREAT massages. she deserves a 5 star. But the two star is for the customer service of the front desk staff. They are never pleasant. They're the first people you meet and they are never welcoming or friendly. Yesterday I came in for a massage bc they had a promotion going on for massage + alignment. I called and the lady who helped me over the phone said that for just massages the price will be $10 cheaper. The other day I managed to get a bad kink in my neck. I'll say it was from yardwork, but looking down at my phone 11 hours a day also takes its toll. Dr. Jacob also came highly recommended and his name is respected in our local community. An appointment was made this afternoon and the staff emailed me beforehand, with a patient intake form to fill out. This saved me lots of time. Dr. "J" is an excellent chiropractor who explained everything in simple terms to me and professionally nagged me on how I can improve self-care moving forward. I already know I'll definitely return for routine work on my neck, shoulders, and back. Us women carry quite a bit of stress and tension there! I also had the pleasure of receiving a 30-minute massage by Suzanne. She offered just the right amount of pressure in a relaxing, calm environment. The office space is large, clean, organized, and the front desk staff was kind. I also loved the music playing in there! They have amazing equipment which included "the rolly table" to stretch me out, and some electrical stimulation pads. The wellness center also offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy and acupuncture. I love coming to Hands in Wellness! I have been coming regularly for about two years and each time I leave, I feel refreshed and ready to tackle the rest of the day. Upon entering, you have an opportunity to be on the table and have a roller for your back to prepare you for the adjustment by Trista or one of the chiropractors three . After your adjustment it is off to the table for a stem cell treatment on your neck or back. Feels so good. At the recommendation of my chiropractor, I came here for a half hour massage to help an area in my upper back causing me quite a bit of pain. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by the girls at the front desk. I filled out a new patient form and was actually taken back early for my massage! Woohoo! Suzanne was my therapist who I shared exactly what was going on with my back. Because everything was so tender, my chiropractor suggested only a half hour-so I had her only focus on neck, shoulders, and upper back. She hit the exact spots I needed her to work on. It was a combo of a painful and really nice massage. I knew it wouldn't be one of those massages that just feels amazing the whole time due to my pain, but she really worked out quite a bit of the tension and pain. Afterwards, I paid ($35 for a half hour) and tipped in the little envelope. Suzanne offered me to have the electrical stimulation for my upper back. I asked about cost, and she said there was none! I was blown away, but I'm maybe guessing since I already paid for a service, they offer some other things to help. Or they are just incredibly nice and saw how much pain I was in! Before I had the electrical stimulation, I laid down on this long table where a big roller moved up and down my lower back. I already felt better from the massage, but was so curious about this electrical thing. They have you sit up while they put 4 electrodes on the areas you specify. Then the have a large icy pad they put on your back over the electrodes. Finally, you lay down. Next, they turn on the machine, and I didn't feel anything right away, but all of a sudden, my upper back started to tingle and feel like someone's invisible fingers were making my muscles jump. I have to be honest, part of it hurt because of that one area that was super tender, but as I write this, I feel a ton better after! One of the chiropractors there checked on me too which was nice. It lasted about 10 minutes, and when done, I was able to go. Overall, I am so impressed with the friendliness and service of the wellness center. Also, the prices are great for what they offer! I have always loved coming here. Trista is a fantastic chiro, the acupuncture is the bomb, and if you want massage? There are so many types of therapists to choose from! Not only that, you can get energy work from Liz and she is amazing! I have been bringing my entire family for years. I have had bilateral pain in my shoulders that was leading to neck pain and headaches. I called to get acupuncture and was set with Veronica. She treated me and set up a clear plan of treatment. She always checks with me to see what has worked and what is still bothering me. With her treatment, I have stopped taking all pain meds within a week. I was still having trouble with range of motion, so she suggested adding a massage in. I just finished an hour massage with Gianna. I was blown away. She worked out several knots and bad places in my shoulders, gave me suggestions and helped me after the massage with an added range of motion trick. I cannot stress how much this has helped me feel normal again. As far as the office goes, the staff is amazingly friendly. They are professional and good at what they do. I've been here three times and seen three different chiropractors and two different massage therapist, and they have all been fantastic. Very great at educating you on what they're doing and why. My insurance was not on file when I came into my appointment and I gave them my insurance card. I have gone to Hands on Wellness Center many times and so has my husband. We have always been charged $40 a visit and without notice after my visit the lady at the front counter said they were out of network and charged me $55. They have lost my business now being transparent about their fees should be upfront prior to service. Ever noticed to how when you make an appointment they don't ask if you have insurance and verify it first, poor practice my daughter goes here too more than us, she's an athlete and she gets a student discount and now you have lost her business too. You services are not WOW and I've seen other chiropractors easily as good some even better that I will go to now because your business are theirs. We work hard for our money acknowledge that equally as m7ch as the care your providing.
