Absolutely love Dr. Sugar's office. Have taken both my kids there for several sports injuries…read more Broken ankle, strained knee, severs foot disease, back pain from growing pains, etc. the staff is always friendly and timely. They go above and beyond. Very thorough too. Even suggested blood labs when we weren't seeing issues with mri, exam and X-rays. They get to the bottom of the issue. Was also appreciative that they respect options and costs. Both kids needed boots and wraps and they fitted them in office and gave price but also suggested Amazon if we wanted to try on our own. We didn't but it was nice to know they supported options. Highly recommend

Dr David Sugar, lacks empathy…read more Myself and wife are both patients of Dr David Sugar. Previously we had a problem with Dr Sugar's staff he said to us "if you ever have a problem again, come see me and I'll take care of it". Starting two weeks ago my wife started to suffer with severe pain in her arm and shoulder. Not knowing what it was, she first visited our GP who diagnosed the condition tendonitis and suggested she visit out orthopedist, Dr David Sugar. After trying unsuccessfully for over a week, we decided that we would go to Dr Sugar's office without an appointment and wait to see him. We got there at 12:30 and was advised that if we didn't have an appointment she would not been seen by the Doctor. She explained the severity of the pain and said she would wait to see the Doctor. Fast forward 5 hours when the office manager again told us that Dr Sugar would not see her. My wife then said she only wanted to talk to him. She was told no. Though she was offered an appointment 2 days later, it became obvious it was just a ploy to get us to leave because early the next morning, we received call saying that we could no longer receive medical care from Dr Sugar and that our records were to be transferred to another doctor's office. Obviously Dr Sugar forgot his telling us "if you ever have a problem again, come see me and I'll take care of it". He did not even show the empathy one expects from a Doctor, but even from a decent man. He did not, and could not, find 5 minutes for long time patient in pain

Discharged Without Notice -- Serious Communication Failure…read more I was very disappointed with Intercoastal Medical Group, Beneva Road. My doctor discharged me without any notice, even though I am 80 years old, and had been on prescribed medication from their office for a long time. Without renewal, there is a risk of serious health consequences. Communication was also difficult, and when I tried to discuss my concerns, I was told they don't share email contacts for managers or doctors. I hope Intercoastal Medical will take greater responsibility for continuity of care and clearer communication with patients.

Got established with Randy Powell, to get on anti anxiety medication. Should be pretty easy,…read moreright..Well when I went to pick up the medication he prescribed, pharmacist says, 'this is your first time being on anything like this, isn't it. Well this dose is high and Dr should have started you off at half this and worked your way up to see if you could tolerate it' So I call and speak with his nurse Sara and ask her if he could lower it and explain what pharmacy said. She asks Dr.Powell and he said that what he called in is what I need and he was not changing it. So all night I am throwing up and having heart palpitations feeling like I'm having a heart attack, because of the strong side effects! Now I have worse anxiety because I'm gun shy to take anything else. I am not impressed with his doctoring skills if he can't even do something this simple.

This is going to be a long story, but I hope this could help someone…read more My ankle was broken with a ligament issue, and I was referred to see a specialist. The main office couldn't figure out the referral form from my primary doctor for 3 days, while telling me to call them to send the right paperwork, when I didn't even know what that was. After I told them I'd find another surgeon, they magically sorted it out. (Btw, this doc doesn't know how to use any modern tech. I was at 1st appt for over 4hrs). I got my surgery scheduled with Dr. Bright very soon. I had a plate and screws inserted into my ankle, which took about 2 hours. My main issue with care was that I was not given any pain medication but told to take Tylenol, although I have no history/issue with it. I had to call the next day and plead for medication while crying in pain. Also, I kept falling during my rehab, which my PT reported to the surgeon. His note should've raised a red flag, but my surgeon or office never called. When I went to see him, he briefly looked at my X-ray and my ankle and recommended removal surgery. I ended up getting surgery from a different doctor, and he said that my ligament was torn, and this should've been easily seen from an X-ray when I was injured at the beginning, and this should've been fixed during my first surgery. Why should you have a surgeon who barely listens to you, reads your charts or notes before coming into your room, or checks your updates from PT? I'm still suffering 2 years later after 2 surgeries; this may be permanent. Do not get close there.

Although Dr. Hand was recommended to me by my dermatologist, I was unable to make an appointment…read more I had to call three times (10 rings the first two times) before someone FINALLY answered the phone. I got an incredibly rude receptionist who simply kept repeating that since I wasn't a current patient the office needed my records & insisted I bring them myself. At that point, she hung up on my. Guess I'll look for a different practice.

From the moment I walked in and was greeted by the receptionist to the intake nurse getting all of…read moremy information I was blown away at how streamlined the office process was as well as the amount of effort that they exhibited in ensuring the patient felt welcomed and was of the utmost importance. Especially when I was unable to walk and was feeling vulnerable and at the mercy of another, not a good feeling from a person that is generally healthy and very active. However, from the moment Dr Stewart entered the room this perception I had for the office overall drastically changed. The whole goal was to get some answers as to why my foot is losing circulation, feeling numb going to sleep, can't move toes, pain when walking, standing, twisting from below knee to foot. I was not only misdiagnosed by Dr. Stewart, but vastly misdiagnosed. He went against his better judgement and decided to self diagnose my injuries based upon a physical examination, xray (bones) and ultrasound of my leg. Rather than order an MRI possibly to get further insight into nerve damage (which xray and ultrasound isnt the best option for). After all, I did mention I have spinal stenosis and he said maybe its from that. Then treated me by putting me in a boot for 30 days stating that my problem was most likely muscle related, but if the boot didn't fix the problem in 30 days then he would order an MRI of my back. Fast forward, 5 days later my foot has consistently turned purple (even without the boot) the steroids I was put on caused my heart to race out of my chest as if it was going to burst. I am still in great pain, I still can not walk (or put pressure on my foot) and now have started to see swelling in my left leg and numbness in my right hand and fingers. If you cant treat someone, don't guess. Send them to get the help they need because putting someone in a constricting boot when they are having blood circulation issues is not going to treat the real issue. It's possible it could exasperate the condition. Also aside from the misdiagnosis and the reason it made it even easier to write this is because he had terrible bedside manners. I felt like I was more of a bother in his busy day than anything.
