There is no better orthopedic in town. The staff is efficient and Dr. Moor is the absolute only doctor I'd let handle my sports injuries!

(2) Cassie Gruber, PA-C for Dr. Moustoukas, for setting my mind at ease by explaining the benefits of Dr. Moustoukas' most-current approach; and (3) Dr. Moustoukas, an expert physician who remains current on best practices so that we - his patients - can benefit from faster recovery times and efficient PT. She sat behind her computer, briefly stated that the x-ray looked fine, and ended the appointment without ever physically examining my hand. Asking follow-up questions felt like pulling teeth. Because of this lack of hands-on care, my pinky healed rotated. After switching to Coastal Orthopedics, another provider explained that rotation cannot be seen on an x-ray--it requires a physical examination. Now, surgery is my only option to correct my finger. When I became visibly emotional and cried during my final visit upon learning this, Cassie Gruber simply brought in another doctor to calm me down rather than acknowledging her oversight. I strongly advise against seeking care at this practice. Seems that patient care isn't a priority here.

They go above and beyond. Very thorough too. Even suggested blood labs when we weren't seeing issues with mri, exam and X-rays. They get to the bottom of the issue. Dr David Sugar, lacks empathy…read more Myself and wife are both patients of Dr David Sugar. Previously we had a problem with Dr Sugar's staff he said to us "if you ever have a problem again, come see me and I'll take care of it". Starting two weeks ago my wife started to suffer with severe pain in her arm and shoulder. Not knowing what it was, she first visited our GP who diagnosed the condition tendonitis and suggested she visit out orthopedist, Dr David Sugar. After trying unsuccessfully for over a week, we decided that we would go to Dr Sugar's office without an appointment and wait to see him. We got there at 12:30 and was advised that if we didn't have an appointment she would not been seen by the Doctor. She explained the severity of the pain and said she would wait to see the Doctor. Fast forward 5 hours when the office manager again told us that Dr Sugar would not see her. My wife then said she only wanted to talk to him. She was told no. Though she was offered an appointment 2 days later, it became obvious it was just a ploy to get us to leave because early the next morning, we received call saying that we could no longer receive medical care from Dr Sugar and that our records were to be transferred to another doctor's office. Obviously Dr Sugar forgot his telling us "if you ever have a problem again, come see me and I'll take care of it". He did not even show the empathy one expects from a Doctor, but even from a decent man. He did not, and could not, find 5 minutes for long time patient in pain

The NP told me that the office would request PT for me then 3 weeks later when I called they said they I needed to do that which delayed my physical therapy by 6 weeks; that's a lot for a broken dominant hand wrist. This is a large group with many offices in the Sarasota-Bradenton area. I've been a patient for…read moreabout 8 years, but am now looking for alternatives as it is very hard to be a patient here - you have to put up with a fair amount of "attitude" from the office staff. (I have been using the Potter Park office, but recently moved and will probably try another of their offices/MDs.) On the plus side: I did like my MD - and I need someone local just for those times I might need an antibiotic. The annual check ups are quite brief. Some blood work, a look in the eyes, ears, listening to the heart, and a bit more. Never more than 15 minutes, but that is pretty much the norm it seems, unless you go to a specialist for an extensive work up. The nurses are nice, but you can expect to be on hold for ten minutes or more every time you call. It took me 19 minutes this morning to reach a nurse for some information. I had left instructions for them to leave the info in my voice mail - but that is apparently too much to ask. It's been like that for all 8 years. And they don't seem to keep their files well organized. Trying to get documents from another specialist, even one of their own in another office, into your file for permanent storage is sketchy and unreliable. Example - a few years ago they had a really tough time getting a copy of my colonoscopy results, even though it was done by another doctor in their group. Good thing I saved my copy and brought it in. Having an out of town doctor send paperwork in to them sometimes got in my file, sometimes not. The office staff seems to regard it as a huge inconvenience. They did switch to a new computer system a few years ago, and it seems to have improved things, but I wouldn't rely on them to keep critical paperwork. The group has expanded over the years - they have their own blood center apparently - and I guess they have figured out how to work the system to maximize insurance payments and minimize costs. In short, don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed.

Discharged Without Notice -- Serious Communication Failure…read more I was very disappointed with Intercoastal Medical Group, Beneva Road. My doctor discharged me without any notice, even though I am 80 years old, and had been on prescribed medication from their office for a long time. Without renewal, there is a risk of serious health consequences. Communication was also difficult, and when I tried to discuss my concerns, I was told they don't share email contacts for managers or doctors. I hope Intercoastal Medical will take greater responsibility for continuity of care and clearer communication with patients.

This is going to be a long story, but I hope this could help someone…read more My ankle was broken with a ligament issue, and I was referred to see a specialist. The main office couldn't figure out the referral form from my primary doctor for 3 days, while telling me to call them to send the right paperwork, when I didn't even know what that was. After I told them I'd find another surgeon, they magically sorted it out. (Btw, this doc doesn't know how to use any modern tech. I was at 1st appt for over 4hrs). I got my surgery scheduled with Dr. Bright very soon. I had a plate and screws inserted into my ankle, which took about 2 hours. My main issue with care was that I was not given any pain medication but told to take Tylenol, although I have no history/issue with it. I had to call the next day and plead for medication while crying in pain. Also, I kept falling during my rehab, which my PT reported to the surgeon. His note should've raised a red flag, but my surgeon or office never called. When I went to see him, he briefly looked at my X-ray and my ankle and recommended removal surgery. I ended up getting surgery from a different doctor, and he said that my ligament was torn, and this should've been easily seen from an X-ray when I was injured at the beginning, and this should've been fixed during my first surgery. Why should you have a surgeon who barely listens to you, reads your charts or notes before coming into your room, or checks your updates from PT? I'm still suffering 2 years later after 2 surgeries; this may be permanent. Do not get close there.

I went to two Orthopedic surgeons who both said I needed rotator cuff surgery. A few people (two in the medical field) told me to have Dr. Schofield do my surgery, so I went to him expecting to make a surgical date. He looked at my MRI, did some manual tests on my shoulder movements which were very limited and said that I don't need rotator cuff surgery and that I have a frozen shoulder and to increase my PT. I was shocked and thrilled that I sought a third opinion. My shoulder is getting better with increased intense PT. Sadly, the nerve damage in my shoulder which is affecting the use of my dominant hand might need surgery and Dr. Schofield is helping me find the right surgeon for this unusual surgery as there's no one in Sarasota that does it. Dr. Schofield is kind, soft spoken, explains things well and listens to my questions and concerns. His staff are all very nice, and the only negative is that you can't leave a voice message. If they're answering another call the recording says to call back and then disconnects.

I have been to several orthopaedic surgeons who either gave me shots of cortisone or suggested joint replacements. Then I found Sarasota Spine and Joint on Facebook. It appeared several times and I thought why not go for a free consultation, I had nothing to loose. It was one of the best decisions of my life. Dr. Berman recommended me to his partner Dr. Harris who took x-rays and did a thorough exam. He reviewed the x-rays with me and said they did not indicate joint replacements. What a relief. He is kind and personally interested in my well being. He suggested physical therapy and that braces might be helpful when exercising. Two days later I began physical therapy at the same location with Ali Salari, D.C., D.P.T. He was very thorough and laid out a plan for me. I go three times a week and do exercises at home. I just completed my sixth visit. I am a new person. When I woke this morning my pain had gone from a 10 out of 10 to a 0 out of 10 in both knees. After a long day of therapy and grocery shopping, my right knee pain is a 3 out of 10 and the left is a 4 out of 10. This is amazing. They have given me a new lease on life. Up until now nighttime was filled with incredible pain and icing my knees every hour. I was taking high doses of OTC pain medicine. I only slept a few hours a night and the pain would wake me every couple of hours. I haven't felt rested in years. I gained a tremendous amount of weight not being able to exercise. I quit a career in real estate due to not being able to go up or downstairs. We moved into a ranch because I couldn't handle steps, not even once a day. I can't believe only 3 weeks ago I had my first appointment here. Both Tameka and Alex the P.T.A.'s who assist Ali are kind, attentive, and sincerely concerned with my progress. I highly recommend anyone suffering with knee or any joint pain to make an appointment today. The worst thing that can happen is they can't help you. The best thing is you might enjoy a life with little to no pain.
