My girlfriend and I went to get paint for our new apartment and the associate there called Heather gave the best service I've ever had at a hardware store! She answered my questions before I could ask and offered helpful advice without seeming pushy or condescending. I'll certainly be returning to this location for additional paint for other rooms! While going through check out, and associate, called Lindsey topped off our experience with her friendliness and pleasant demeanor. The past nine months I've been trying to get them to install new fireplace doors, which is not a major install. Their "one-man shop" Kevin came out to our house early autumn of 2022 to take measurements and give us a quote and then again three months later in December 2022 when we hadn't heard anything back. He apologized for "dropping the ball" and assured us he would get the job going. On 12/10/22 he sent us a rough outline of the work they would perform and I wrote back the same day saying sign us up, whatever money you need in advance we can provide by check or credit card. One thing led to another and we never heard back from them. Small business's can get busy and I was busy as well, and the winter passed by. So yesterday, 6/22/23, I called them up saying things must have gotten lost in the shuffle, but I wanted to see if they could do the fireplace door. No harm done, we just wanted to pick off where we left off. Kevin got super defensive right away saying I had never gotten back to them. I was stunned and I sent him my email from 12/10/22, which clearly had said sign us up, whatever money you need up front I can provide. So then he changed his story to that I had never sent a check...totally bizarre considering I had never been asked for a payment amount. But this revised story was also BS, when Kevin left our house in December he said he would reach out to a subcontractor to install what's called a lintil, which is like a frame in which the fireplace doors sit. He and Nordic Stove Shoppe just never followed through on what they said they'd do. We all make mistakes or miss things, myself included, I was just calling up to see if we could get it done over the summer when presumably it would be less busy. The CYA, defensiveness, and leveling of blame by Nordic Stove Shoppe was bizarre and unprofessional. Kevin cut the call short by saying he felt sure they wouldn't want my business and the owner Ed followed up this morning telling me to take my business somewhere else. After nine months of waiting on them! The owner Ed followed up with a checklist of how they do businesses, which was particularly ridiculous because I had followed every step in their process. Unprofessional, dishonest, and really at the end of the day weaselly. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. This company is not to be trusted.

Interesting small plaza off Route 202 in Rochester. Good for…read morethe essentials, but not much else as there's not too many stores to go to, and barely any food spots. Truthfully, I don't blame Famous Footwear for moving to the Ridge. The Ridge just seems to have a better flow and be less choppy in general. This place is basically a bunch of little plazas, combined all into one large center. Definitely not the best design that could have been possible for this center. Lowe's is great, and that's about it. Buffalo Wild Wings I'm sure is fine, and Jo-Ann's looks fine too (but Hobby Lobby did just open.....), but everything is scattered and a bunch of the stores like Kohl's and Petsmart are smaller than any of the retailers other stores. It seems like a trend. It's not that bad, it's just that, when a new shopping center is built, there are certain expectations that come along with it being new. Rochester Crossing doesn't seem to have completed the job fully, and made it an actually useful center for the people in Rochester. If I lived up here, I would be spending a whole lot more time at the Ridge Marketplace, and probably even the Lilac Mall. Too bad, maybe this place will improve over the years. 3 stars for Rochester Crossing.
