Let me start by admitting that, to me, this Lowe's and this Lowe's…read more(https://www.yelp.com/biz/lowes-home-improvement-portland) are nearly the same place - in layout, in availability, in staff, etc.. And, if I go to one, I usually end up going to the other immediately afterward to see if they have what I was looking for if the other didn't, so I think I've done this mash-up to myself. Things I like about the Brighton location: 1. It's always less busy than the other location. 2. The parking lot is less chaotic as a result. 3. When "the mall" location is out of something specific (like the white ceramic allen + roth indoor planter I'd like ALL my flora friends to be in), Brighton usually has it. 4. I don't know if they're actually smaller than "the mall" location, but they've got an impressive selection of outdoor plants (flowers, herbs, veggies) in Spring/Summer. 5. I think the staff here is nicer. Things I like about both locations: 1. Using the outside register. Things I don't like about either locations: 1. They're horrible inside registers (both the self check-out and the ones with people). Things I like about Lowe's in general: I think Lowe's as a corporate brand does a good job at seasonality. Unlike Walmart, the Dollar Tree, and even Target who, for example, have their back-to-school stuff up by early July and have already transitioned completely away from anything summer/patio/gardening, Lowe's doesn't. Some of us don't have our gardens planted by Memorial Day, so I appreciate that I can still get my mint and dill "later" in the season, I guess.

Went to look for a electric range and not one employees in the appliances asked if they could…read moreanswer any questions never mind said hello. The very lovely woman at the exit asked us if we found everything ok and I thanked her for asking and for saying hello... very very disappointed... could have been a decent sale but I guess they don't need it. On to Home Depot where we had a very nice chat the night before.

Amazing, fast service during another one of those winter weather issues. I spent a lot of time…read moretrying to prep for winter with my snow blower. Prepping the gas, starting it throughout the summer months and letting it run, checking the oil. Despite all this, when the big day came to use the snow blower, it wouldn't blow snow, just start and stall over and over and over. As everyone knows, if you live in Maine you need to have a way to remove snow, especially if your driveway is as long as ours. So I started calling around and every repair place was booked out by at least 4 weeks. Luckily I found Sportsman's through word of mouth and they can to pick up our snowblower ($15 pick up and $15 drop off). They repaired it within 3 days! We had a storm the following day and BAM snowblower repaired and working better than ever. It even came back with an EXTREMELY detailed repair report which I appreciate! I highly recommend this place for their prompt turnaround times and responsiveness!

I was in that store today looking for 2 different types of hooks for the house. I asked an…read moreemployee; A old man with a large gut, and he brought me to two sections of the store. In the second area he lingered a few feet behind me for a long time after I found the area I needed: which I noticed, thought was strange, and I got the sense that he was trying to be intimidating. Then another costumer needed help finding something so he walked a away for less than a minute. Then he returned & continued eyeballing me. Very obvious and intrusive. After I found what I needed I walked to the front, and when I passed him I said; "You watching me like a hawk?" His reply was "yeah". I've been followed around in stores before, and I really don't like being profiled. But he admitted what he was he was doing which is accusing someone of being a thief by de facto. I'm not a thief, and have never stolen from a business. I voiced my protest to the guy at the front of the store. I really don't like leaving reviews that are negative because it affects everyone there. But when there's a employee who acts like that I'm sure the business owner would want to be aware. I'm almost 50, have never stolen from a business, and really don't like being treated like that.
