Similar to Kauai, I live in a state that banks big on tourism. Similar to Kauai, New Mexico is a place that doesn't sell out (define that as you may) and has a lot of cultural soul, historic pride and sly personality, as opposed to our neighboring southwestern states. Thus, the Locals know that our desert island is simply authentic. While the average tourist brings home a suitcase of dreamcatchers (most likely made in China) and moccasins (made in Minnesota), the best goods are produced by local artists. While I won't say By The Sea is a purveyor of strictly local finds, if you spend some time digging, you'll dig what you find around here. Shirts and hats are simply cooler than anything I'd seen anywhere else. I can't define cool, it just is, you'll know it when you see it. High quality products produced in America. Funny jabs and smart, proud merch. Just go. My wife got a baseball cap that looks straight outta the 80's, and I'm not ashamed to note that I remember that decade.

The owner asked me if I wanted a refund or store credit. In order to support her small business, I decided on the store credit. I have been trying ever since to use the store credit, however the owner refuses to honor it. Very frustrated and not sure what to do.

Bodacious is awesome! They have all sizes from XS-5X and it was great not only that I found my size…read morebut also in the colors I wanted! It's the first time I could ask for a size larger or smaller and have an outfit where the pants and top both fit and look great! I even went back later and bought another! Staff is great too! The owner wasn't there but an older lady helped me. She sang the praises of the owner. She told us that the owner "knows all of us are not tiny and makes sure her lines have sizes to fit more curvaceous women. That's the kind of store I want to shop in. Happy and loyal customers with an owner who obviously cares about her employees and her customers!

His first pick & he asked if I approve....yes, indeed! On the way to purchasing it, I scanned over other hats on the wall & I spied a crossover bag that screamed at me. Yessss! Finally, one that's Hawaiian inspired with a wide strap & the size I need. Score! The staff were nice & friendly with a ready smile. Now back to Lydgate to swim with my kick board. I'm set!
