Wow!!!! Ordered the pork cutlet with all the trimmings (see picture), it was excellent! Never had it before. Wonderful flavors. For the rice I opted the curry sauce on top, amazingly delicious!

Got the Jenny roll, California and the crab Forrest one (I think)

I visited Lakeside Farmers Market on a Sunday when they were having their monthly Maker's Market…read more At the Maker's Market, there are vendors who sell various products, including jewelry, jams/jellies, clothing, and other goods. I didn't see many vendors selling actual produce or other things that you would expect to find at a typical farmer's market. I believe the actual farmer's market is held on Saturdays. I arrived at the market shortly after it opened so parking was a breeze in the attached lot. In addition to the different vendors, they had a food truck vendor set up and performances by a local artist. What brought me to the Lakeside Maker's Market was All Dis Puddin, a local small business that sells various types of pudding. Think banana pudding, but with different twists that don't all include bananas. I've been following this business on Instagram for a while, and when I saw that they were going to be at the market during my Richmond visit, it was my golden opportunity! I placed an order in advance to pick it up at the market. After getting my order, I walked around the market some more and checked out some of the other businesses that were set up there. I also came across Loquito Coquito, another business that I've been following on Instagram. I was able to snag their February special, strawberry coquito. As Yelpers, we make a point to support local businesses, and this was a great way to support small, local businesses.

Still pretty new to cooking this kind of food, so I knew I had lots of spices to add to my collection and sure enough this place had all the spices and pastes other places don't sell. Lots of selection and good Indian music playing helped my usual wound up personality relax a little and get lost in staring at the wide variety of things, many I'd never heard of. I took my time browsing and thankfully I wasn't bombarded by employees trying to help. Later on when I got home I just happened to notice 1 of the 11 items I purchased was past it's best by date. Got on here and apparently this I wasn't the first or second person to have this problem. The thing that gets me is there were tons of what appeared to be employees stocking vegetables, you would think at least one of them would be assigned to go out and keep an eye for past due dates on the shelves. Really wanted to like this place with a 5 star, the music and atmosphere were on point but I'm really disappointed I basically wasted $ on something that employees should have been checking themselves. So far away it's a little difficult for me to return. I'm a big fan of Desi next door, and I'm sure I'll be back in the future, but next time I go here I will definitely take it upon myself to keep an eye out for dates. No reason this should have happened when other people already left reviews like this.

The market is an add on to an already amazing park with soccer fields, shady glens with large oak trees and rolling hills of grass. I wish I had more time to explore. The vendor booths are in shade and well spaced. It was a rather large market compared to NYC, northern VA, New England small towns and had that feel of one of those first musical festivals from the late 70's Everyone, small ones included was chill. Lots of amazing food w new approachs from sauces, proteins, sea food of course including oysters, soft shell and other Tidewater treasures. The vegetable vendors from small to large were well managed and lines moved quickly. The produce looked like a magazine spread. There was background music from two separate musicians which supported the mellow vibe. My faves were The Herbalist Garden where I picked up a blemish stick for those summer nicks and bites. Rosehip and Thyme See picture Yes, there are many more and this soothes and heals.Honey- why buy store bought when you get this straight from the beekeeper? Just awesome and fairly priced. The nice thing about Cheryl's.... all the produce is Locally Grown including those famous Hanover Tomatoes which I love... The address on Yelp says Ashland, however they are really located 1 Mile past Over Hill Lake on Rt. 33 in Glen Allen heading West. The address is 13460 Mountain Rd., Glen Allen, Va. The Produce there are fresh, and about 1/3 less than what you pay at any Grocery Store and some of the other Produce Stands around Richmond. Since I live off of Glenside Dr., it takes me about 12 min. to drive there as it is an easy shot down Staples Mills Rd. Nice little place... Very clean, and I suggest checking it out. I spent about $10. today and I have more produce than what I can eat in a week. The only thing which they did not have was Hanover GREEN Tomatoes. I LOVE the taste of Fried Green Tomatoes. This was one of the BIG reasons why I went there today. Very disappointed. With Tomatoes coming in now by the bunch... They should always have Green Tomatoes on hand. Even if you do not like a Green Tomato, it does not cost more and they will always turn red. I like buying several with some ripe tomatoes because I am not forced to eat all of my tomatoes at one time.... Check it out.... Great small place and you will have plenty when you leave.... :-)
