We didn't hear much until around 2045 when staff told us the kitchen ran on electricity so the food would be further affected, but served us the chorizo which was prepared at the table. We left shortly after as we still had a chance to make another restaurant. Nice ambiance, it can get quite noisy inside if there are some large groups. The electricity is known to go off from time to time, and from what we were told it was due to the wiring and the age of the building, and that they were limited to what they could do due to its heritage listing. The staff could do well to communicate the impact of this to guests though. They were quite friendly none the less. The building itself is beautiful, and retains this beauty even if you are in the dark.

The flavours are delicious, not oily and they were happy to make it more mild for my horridly lame pallet. The Bayleaf Brasserie also offers lunch specials and a banquet menu - now if only they'd renovate the plaza and make it a more appealing place to visit!

It's cosy outdoors and an indoor restaurant, I have eaten at other Japanese restaurants on Norton St, this by far the best value and quality, especially for all the fresh items, as they are sliced and cut on the spot.

I ordered Caramelized pork belly in a clay pot. Anything pork is right up my alley, so of course it was a cracker. Quite salty but also sweet, finely chopped ribbons of pork belly that simply melts in your mouth. We also ordered the Chicken and coconut cream curry. A favourite at other Vietnamese restaurants, we like to try it everywhere because it varies so much between chefs. It was earthy and you could tell the curry had been freshly made. The combination special fried rice was awesome. with plump juicy little prawns mixed in. You could easily get away with just the rice and Bahn for teo people and still be stuffed. I noticed some other people having the whole ginger fish, which looked like a great option for two people at about $35. There is a Wine list, or you can BYO wine only.
