As they said they are best Chinese restaurant in NJ.. I don't think the judge are Chinese. It's regular American Chinese restaurant food.

3.5 stars for the normal menu, 4 stars for the Dan dan noodles. I absolutely LOVE the dan dan noodles and get them every time I am here. They are tasty, spicy, filling, and affordable. As for the rest of the menu I have had mixed experiences. I have ordered the same dish more than once and had it be different each time. One time it was so spicy I could not eat it, another it hardly had any kick- I had ordered the same spicy-ness level both times. It may depend on who is the chef that night. The food is excellent if you like spicy chinese food. This particular location has problems with the staff though. We have been denied admission at 9pm on multiple occasions and that I think is just because they have slow nights during weekdays and don't want to serve just one table. More over they are also rude while denying admission even though their website lists timing till 10pm. I would love to see new management at this place. read more

It's the best Chinese food available in Philadelphia . Period. I would request you to go to University City as they have free parking available and the food is definitely much better than the one in Old City. Service is quick as it's all family style. Make sure you mention the spice level or you may be in for a surprise. read more

Our first trip and it will not be our last. It looks unsuspecting from the outside, like another one of those 'all you can eat buffet' style chinese restaurants, but this is FAR from it. Great sichuan food for people who want REAL chinese food, not the overly sweet sauce laden food found throughout the city. Being the dainty eaters we are, we only ordered 5 appetizers to split amongst the four of us to start. Sliced beef tendon in chili oil, pork belly in chili oil, fried dumplings, crispy cucumbers in chili oil and cold sesame noodles. Yes, chili oil in almost each of those items; however it's very professionally controlled. No blinding heat at all, just a subtle comfortable tingle. The tendon and pork belly were amazing (FYI, they're served cold) both cooked until very tender, chilled then sliced paper thin. Stacked tall and garnished with sliced scallions it was one of my favorites. The crispy cucumbers were surprisingly good. They did have chili oil on them as well, but the more dominant flavor was that of sesame oil. Very good. For main courses we went with the shrimp fried rice, chicken lo mein, chicken with spicy sauce and ginger smoked duck. Every item was delicious. The rice was pleasantly controlled by the amount of soy which made it seem almost bland in comparison to other chinese restaurants (but it's probably because they've loaded theirs with soy sauce and chicken powder). This rice was a pleasant surprise. The chicken lo mein tasted like it should, with hints of ginger and scallions. The spicy sauce chicken (level 7 out of 10 on spiciness scale) did not seem that spicy at all, but it was quite enjoyable. The duck for me, while tender and delicious when accompanied by the vegetables, tasted a bit too smoky, taking some of the flavor away from the duck itself, I'm definitely interested in the tasting menu that they offer. This is also, apparently, a sister restaurant to one located in Old City. I overheard one of the managers say that the chili oil in that restaurant is much hotter than the one here, so I'm even more intrigued. My wife, who is a bit of a fussy eater, even enjoyed a lot of the items especially since they're mostly things she would not volunteer to eat on her own. read more

Although my experience at the restaurant was terrible, my experience with the Owner, Mark, went extremely well. Mark is a smart business man and he was very understanding and concerned with my experience at his establishment. He was very respectful and immediately reached out to me to rectify this situation. I had heard so much about Han Dynasty -- had to try it out. Decor is modern and clean and crisp- not unlike PF Changs ( minus the horses)-- tables are well spaced. The food -- well--- interesting. Dan dan noodles are a favorite of mine when done properly --- these were small portioned, overly greasy and lacked texture from non noodle ingredients --- in other words-- a mess! Garlic shrimp-- EXCELLENT SAUCE--- toooooo many bell peppers as a plate filler. Though quaint, the retro Coke bottles are of course a la carte and ring up the bill. Awesome stuff!!!! Everything we ordered was absolutely amazing, but lost one star for being a little on the oily side. I think it had a lot to do with the fact that we did take out. The Dan Dan Noodles were good, but the noodles was overcooked and it was very oily. I would try them again, just to see if the chef had a bad night or something. I rate good ethnic food by how badly it hurts my stomach after I eat it lol. The worse the food, the worse it gets me. When ethnic food is prepared correctly and tastes good, it rarely ever hurts me. I was amazed that although I had a dish rated "8" on the spice o' meter, I had no tummy trouble at all. Scores!!! I did find it a bit on the pricy side, but the dishes were definitely enough to share. They were a bit chincy on the rice. Only two small containers for four full adult sized meals/orders. Delicious & great service!! Comparable if not better than manayunk and royersford locations. (Last time I had Dan Dan noodles at manayunk my mouth was numb for 3 days from the spice level. Still good though.) What we got: Dan Dan noodles, spicy cucumber, pea leaves with garlic sauce, double cooked fish I thought all of them were really good, not super spicy. I'd def go back. I was eager to try Han Dynasty. I heard how wonderful the Old City location is but I hadn't tried it. I would like to preface my review by saying that I am very into good food, cooking it and eating it. I have a few favorite Chinese restaurants in Philadelphia and one in South Jersey that have been anointed by the professional food critics as authentic. I dined at Han Dynasty with my husband. I decided to try a selection of the most popular dishes. We had the noodles, dumplings, and the fish dry pot. The noodles had bits of something, I assume that it was ground pork, in the bottom, but it wasn't crispy. The noodles were overlooked and not spicy, although they were floating in an oil slick of red oil. I asked the waiter about the heat factor. He told e that they dialed down the heat two notches for Cherry Hill, (why?) but that my next two dishes would be a 10. The dumplings were good, the sauce was spicy, but not very spicy and once again, there was a lot of that red oil in the dish. The fish dry pot arrived, with a little more heat and a lot more oil. It was ok. The service was friendly and attentive. The dining room is attractive. Maybe we caught an off night. I was dismayed at the amount of oil and the lack of any nuanced spice. Everything tasted the same. due to the excessive oil, i don't consider the menu to be healthy. Chinese food can be healthy. I will continue to travel 1/2 mile up Route 70 to my favorite Chinese restaurant in South Jersey. read more

We ate there recently as a party of 9. We ordered two soups both of which had very little flavor. The wanton's were small, mushy, and tasteless and the seafood tofu soup was similarly tasteless. Needless to say, the dumplings that we got as an appetizer were more of the same. The dandan noodles were very good as were most of the entrees. The only disappointment of an entry was a rabbit dish that we were told had small bones in it. However we weren't prepared for the amount of bones that were there. They made this entree almost inedible. The service as very good, the noise level was fine, and the price was ok. Overall, this restaurant was just a little above average. We go to the korean BBQ place next to this chinese restaurant once a week but never check it out. Well after we went to two other places tonight but they were both closed because it's monday, we decided to give this place a try. The service was very good, not expecting Chinese restaurant owned by an American, so that was a surprise. We ordered Dan dan noodles, braised beef noodles soup, scallion pancake, and a soup dish, too average for me to remember its name. Dan Dan noodles was ok, nothing special. The braised beef noodles soup was bland, no taste at all. The scallion pancake was over fried, so greasy. The price isn't too bad, but I can get better Chinese food in Chinatown. read more

Everything is so salty!!! Tried going back several times but we always get at least one dish that's so salty you can barely consume it.

I ordered Dan Dan noodles and chicken fried rice. Both are tasteless and flavorless. Very disappointed

We had the Don Don Noodles to start and they were good but nothing spectacular. We also had the eggplant with garlic sauce which was excellent. Sadly the triple peppered chicken and the cumin lamb were ok. We did not enjoy the pig belly in garlic sauce but the dumplings were decent. It was very hit or miss in the food department. But I want to keep this simple .....the food was good but the service was just awkward and weird. Plus the host was one of two servers??? There was no coordination between the two servers and they would both check on us asking us the same questions right after the other one left and asked the same question. The service gets an F+ because the guys tried but it was just totally unprofessional and it was just very weird. In my opinion the place is very overrated and I highly doubt I will go back....sad but true. read more

One of my favorite place to get Dan Dan noodles but my last experience there was not excellent. The night I was there the customer service was totally HORRIBLE! It wasn't a busy night and it took about a half hour for the waitress to take our order. After we received our meal we didn't hear from the waitress at all. It was like we were invisible and our check never came and we had to walk upfront to ask for it as we saw people that came after us leaving and being taken care of. Just very poor customer service. We met my cousin here for lunch yesterday and was impressed by the "top 50 Chinese restaurants voted by CNN" banner so we had high expectations of the place and were not disappointed. I was a little confused by the translation of menu items because they all sounded similar (spicy) and so we ordered a variety. The Dan Dan noddles were very yummy and so were the dumplings. For the main dishes we ordered some duck, some beef and some beef ramen of which were all very delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who enjoys spicy Chinese food. read more

Definitely weaker than Old City, but still delicious. Where's the spice?! A worker told me that the chef in Jersey was from a different town in China, so his style was less intense. The food is a bit pricey compared to the average chinese restaurant but well worth it. The service is wonderful, the owner manager was very accommodating and friendly. I came with my family. We were thoroughly enjoyed our meal, everything was very flavorful. My favorite was the dan dan noodles, spicy beef and peppers, sauteed string beans and garlic eggplant. The wontons in hot chili oil and the cucumbers for appetizers were delicious as well. As an avid spicy food eater, I didnt find the food very spicy, considering we went up to level 8 in spiciness. Love this place! We have finally found a place that caters to spicy food lovers like us - although they will gladly adjust the spice levels to your liking. We've been here three times since January already and love it. Have tried the hot pot, kung po chicken; eggplant-shrimp special, dumplings in chili oil, cumin beef and my favorite the dan dan noodles. All dishes were prepared perfectly. Staff is very welcoming and friendly. We would go there even more if we only lived closer. Highly recommend! read more

So Han Dynasty...what's good? The Dan Dan noodles and the dry pot lamb and the dumplings in chili oil...all were good..the noodles were instantly addictive with its great flavor...the dry pot lamb was tender n moist with a nice blend of hot sauce, bamboo shoots, black mushrooms, bell peppers, and Sichuan peppercorns which all go well with rice...the dumplings were tough to eat without stabbing at them with my chopstick gladly as they are a good starter...My friend got the mung bean which I was unable to try since she didn't offer me any ): nice quiet spot with friendly service...if you're looking to enjoy a great meal this is the spot where you can take your time eating since the food trickles out of the kitchen at a leisurely pace haha read more

I would love to give this place 4 stars because the food is great, BUT the service here is awful. AWFUL. I just wanted to eat my eggplant with garlic sauce (so good, never had an eggplant dish like it) and pork belly and not deal with the smart ass dude who was a jerk from the moment we walked through the door.
