Hampton Park is such natural beauty hidden in Charleston. It is great to visit almost any time of year, we stopped by in December (cold out) and walked the park. So many plants, shrubs and trees to admire and appreciate. The large oaks near the pond are a wonder. Picture perfect! The city maintains Hampton Park very well, in the spring the blooming color is awesome. There is a decent walking path around both the pond and the overall park. They have installed a bike rental place, you can use here and then go elsewhere in Charleston. Various times of the year there are planned 5ks, fun runs, and walks around the park and it can be very enjoyable. I use to run around the park as a Citadel cadet, and remember enjoying the shadow of the tree canopy as I ran around it. But as a local or tourist, stop by this beautiful park and soak up Charleston charm. Thanks Charleston!

We visited Hampton Park for the first time yesterday. It is one of Charleston's largest parks and offers free parking and restrooms. The park has a fitness trail so there were lots of people using that to run and/or bike. We walked the grounds and were really impressed with the beautiful trees and flowers throughout the park. I loved the water feature and pond because there were a dozen Canadian geese hanging out (they are so pretty though you should watch where you step when around them). If you are looking to get some walking or running in, have a picnic or just enjoy a nice book on a beautiful day, I definitely recommend Hampton Park!

Medium sized dirt dog park with some grass patches and trees. Lots of benches to sit on and a couple dogs to play with mid day.

There are a lot of places that I love to visit in Charleston and Hampton Park is definitely one of my favs. I try to come here at least once or twice a month and have introduced several of my close friends to this park. There's gorgeous flowers blooming year round, including azaleas, camellias, wisteria, magnolias, and gardenias. There's a nice workout area as well. This was where I had my first date with my now-bf. I'm definitely going to miss this place when I leave Charleston!

Hank (my one and only true love) loves the dog park and all the friends he makes every time we go. I love the park too as it's a decent medium size allowing you to keep an eye on your four legged friend and all their butt sniffing action. The fences also are great and sturdy compared to most dog parks I've been to which is great if your little explorer is also a Houdini. The dog park is our hang out so feel free to stop by and say hello, Hank will also request one head scratch please (or many).

A beautiful park that was once a horse race track. You'd never know though based on how it currently looks, but I'm very happy with my visit, and look forward to the next one. The park itself is beautiful and unless you did more than drive by it, you'd never know how much it has to offer. I came here this past weekend for a non-profit event, and I'll be coming back again for a 5k pretty soon, so I can't wait to get a different perspective of the park. I would go into more detail about the park, but everyone before me has already done that, so I'm just going to advise you to find a spot to park, get out, and enjoy a day at the park ... you won't be disappointed, and there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance too!

Hampton Park is such a gorgeous green space. The landscaping is impeccable and compliments the large live oaks with Spanish moss dripping from the branches. Depending on the season, you may be luckily enough to find explosions of azaleas or gardenias or magnolias. There are several types of paths for a peaceful stroll, a bike ride, or to get in a tough workout. Definitely worth spending a few hours enjoying the outdoors here.

We love bring our dogs to Hampton Park dog park. It's a great size and all fenced in so no need to worry when I let the pups run off the leash. My furbaby is deaf so I only like to take her leash off if it is completely fenced in. There are shaded parts as well as open areas. Plenty of benches for puppy parents to sit and hang out while the dogs run and play. It's free and all are welcome! And no need to worry if your dog gets thirsty there's a water fountain for you and for them!

Fantastic park with so much space for your pleasure. Also great fitness trail with workout stations along the way. The center of the park has a nice water feature and floral gardens that a in full bloom and floral aroma right now. Also some magnificent Live Oak trees, as well as beautiful Myrtles, Camellias, and two new stunning Peppermint Peach trees planted in honor of Joe Riley. Come here for a nice walk early in the morning before the heat gets to be too oppressive. If you're more interested in the fitness aspect, in addition to the trail on the park grounds there is a loop around the park that is popular for bikers and joggers.

Excellent park. One of my favorite places in Charleston. The jogging trail has circuit training stations that make for a great workout. Not to mention it's absolutely beautiful.

Very friendly dog park. It is really huge. I will take my babies there again. They are so tired now.

There is a smaller grassy enclosure for the small dogs and an enclosure for water play. It had recently rained so, unfortunately, there was mud in the main enclosure. Actually when you park by the rec. center you wouldn't think there's even a dog park until you see a tiny sign with a man walking a dog. Follow that path beside the dumpster and it's around the corner! Thanks to the other reviews I knew that too. Love this app! There's a smaller dog side and a large dog side. Nothing is really taken care of but it kind of feels more like a dog park in the woods and our pup loves running through the woods so this was right up her alley. It was quiet and so pretty as the sun was coming through the trees. This is a straight run of the mill dog park no extras or frills. Simple fence and water for the dogs otherwise they pretty much left it. Again, I don't hate that because I really want my pup to run (she doesn't really play or the "toys"). Eventually a young girl came with her pups and Stella got to run even more. Just a nice fun morning exercise.

It features a small dog and large dog side hidden away under the trees. The place is nice and stays shaded during the hot sun, but it is in the woods somewhat so I might suggest bringing bug spray for mosquitos and gnats. This park is great for pups to run and plan, but be aware that it is not always populated, so you cannot guarantee that others will be there. I have always had pleasant experiences at this park, but I will say that I don't always feel the most comfortable going there alone as you have to walk a bit in some trees on a trail before finding the fenced in play area. Personally, I always bring someone with me when I go. DIRECTIONS: If this is your first time going, give yourself some time to find where it is! You have to turn off Rifle Range into the Waterworks facility. Then, follow the signs (to the right) all the way to the end of the road. Keep looking for the dog park signs (or a sign for Marsh View Trail, which passes through the dog park), and note that it is somewhat hard to find. You know you are there when you find a "dead end." Cars are generally parallel parked, if there are any there. On the right-hand side are trees (and you can see houses/a neighborhood through them) and on the left-hand side is a metal fence and stuff presumably for the waterworks. Once you park and start headed to the park, you will have to walk just a tad until you get there. (I took pics and posted in my Yelp review if it's helpful). Enjoy!
