My room was fantastic! It was very clean and spacious. Breakfast was the typical hotel breakfast but it was warm and tasty.

Nothing wrong with this place. Very clean. For an off the highway stop this place is friendly, clean, and even has a good light breakfast.

The good: The hotel is visually appealing and sophisticated for Waterville…read more The staff were warm and we were treated as valued guests and not just a "customer". The room was large and the bathroom surprisingly spacious. Housekeeping did a great job. The hotel smelled and clocked clean throughout. The shower was new and featured a rain water type faucet. The blackout curtains did a decent job blocking light and we didn't hear any hallway or exterior noise. The bad: I'm very picky and candid but fair in grading experiences. The beds and pillows were hard as rocks. The mattress felt as though we were sleeping on plywood. The ventilation kept my wife up throughout the night. It would whine before starting and when the blower came on, it was very loud. If you are a light sleeper, don't go here for sleep. The light switches were no doubt wired by the lowest bidder. They didn't make sense and there was a certain combination needed to get the lights on. Overall: the hotel was very clean and deserving of an 8, but the terrible bedding and the jet engine turbine heating, brings this to a 6. Why? Because the core need that a hotel must meet is a good night's sleep. There was zero information in the room or on the website as to the checkout time. We looked everywhere in the room. The receptionist told us the hotel had room service, but again no information was located in the room. Suggestion to hotel: investing in new mattresses is a substantial investment. Consider foam toppers. Label the switches. A simple tasteful font at 12pt placed just below each switch is cheaper than an electrician. Place signage with checkout times, restaurant operation times, rooms service and other information in the rooms. Put menus in the rooms. A small surprise - no in room coffee pot. This should be a standard for a hotel.

I've stayed at this hotel many times over the years with my kids as a little local mini vacation…read more Went to book a room for our annual mini vacation and was told I have been banned. Supposedly because, as they said, I left a lot of trash in the room. I had a small family birthday party for my son and cleaned up the room, even bringing my own trash bags to do so. I was puzzled & assumed it was a mistake so I reached out to management and received an email back saying that I had taken advantage of their no locals policy. Apparently they don't rent rooms to locals, but bent the rules for me, unbeknownst to me. No one EVER told me that this was a policy. If it was a policy, to not rent locals, then why in the world would they have rented to me? The whole situation is just bizarre. I've spent a lot of money at this hotel over the years and this is the thanks I get. So if you're local I guess you're not allowed to stay at this hotel, but they probably won't tell you that and may rent to you anyway. ?? Warning to locals- you're not allowed here, or maybe you are, or maybe sometimes? Great management. Thanks Fireside. Very nice. I cleaned that room thoroughly when I left, as I always do. If you're local they'll turn on you I guess. I'm still just stunned by this. I never had any issues in all the years I've stayed here, ever. No warnings, no complaints, no mention of not being allowed here. Nada. This is just rotten.

First time coming to this hotel, there was a crack pipe in my room. Right on top of the towels…read more... (There will be photos attached). I spoke to the head of housekeeping (Eric Carpenter) who assured me this would be dealt with.. He offered to give me an upgraded room for the rest of the year, 2025, anytime I came by with assured DEEP cleanliness to it & was also assured this would be noted in my profile whenever I personally made a reservation.. Which was a lie. The past 2/3 times I have showed up to this particular hotel since this incident, there has been some sort of alleged "issue" which resulted in the front desk employees basically DOWNGRADING my room or giving me a room that has quality issues (photos will also be attached). YESTERDAY (10/2/2025) I booked online, as I always do and when I got to this hotel the front desk manager (David Connolly) told me I had been put on the "do not rent" list due to "smoking in the room" and "paint bubbling from hot water damage in the bathroom"... I am 6 months pregnant... NEED I MENTION I do not smoke nor do I ever in life need to be in BOILING water... Basically they were finding any reason to get out of owning up to what their housekeepers either left or didn't do a good enough job of cleaning up.. I am utterly upset due to the fact that nobody has done anything to accommodate or help the fact that this is happening. I have called the head manager of it all, (Katy Kelly) and haven't received a call back which is what prompted me to make this review. The photos attached is what I've been dealing with since I've booked here.. so if you have kids, do not book here, if you care about your safety, do not book here, and if you care about cleanliness and hospitality do not book here because the employees definitely lack that.

After searching for dog friendly places in the New England area for a couple of hours we finally stumbled upon Pressey House in Oakland, ME on Airbnb. Neither of us had ever heard of the town but a quiet Bed & Breakfast on a lake sounded good to us. A few nights later we made the 3 hour drive to Oakland, ME where we checked into the Granite Suite. Originally we were a little dubious because the walls of the suite are described as being the original foundation of the home from 1850 so we were afraid that it might feel like we were in a dark, damp cave but when our Host, Nikki, showed us to where we were going to be staying nothing could have been further from the truth. Although all the of the walls were either granite or brick, the front of the suite was bright with natural light thanks to the window and door and the back of the suite with the comfy, King sized bed had a cozy feel to it. There are a couple of cool little brick arches in the suite that are a unique architectural feature. The bathroom was surprisingly roomy which you don't always find at a B&B and even though there is no bathtub the shower stall had excellent water pressure and didn't feel cramped . The suite also had a pretty good size kitchenette which was really handy to have the two nights we were there. My favorite feature though was the gas fireplace. Each night my fiancé and I spent hours in front of it playing cards and relaxing. It was especially welcome since it snowed while we were there, and nothing is better than coming in from the cold and warming up in front of the fire. There is WiFi available and our signal was strong enough that we experienced no internet issues on our phones and tablets. There is a main common area that was split into two sections: The front section which has a sitting area in front of a wood burning fireplace and the back section which overlooks the lake and functions as a dining space. The quintessential New England feel of the room is warm, inviting and really makes you think of the long history of the home. Although we were the only ones having breakfast each morning in the common area because everyone else was a long term rental, Nikki made sure that she still pulled out all the stops for us. One morning we had fruit salad, cinnamon rolls, homemade frittata, and sausage and then the next day we feasted on fruit salad, pancakes and homemade corned beef hash. The first night that we arrived Nikki had left homemade cookies in our room. The following day at breakfast she got some ideas of what kind of desserts we liked and we came back from a day exploring the area to some homemade strawberry thumbprint cookies in our room (which my fiancé LOVED). So, saying that Nikki is a good cook, who will feed you well feels like an understatement. Our most favorite part of the Pressey House though was Nikki, her husband Ron and their family (pups included). They were extremely friendly, professional, accommodating in every way and it's clear that they want every guest to have an amazing experience when you stay with them. From chatting with Nikki & Ron we learned that they have just recently purchased the inn and have some big plans for it. We can say with certainty that we will be going back for another visit and we look forward to seeing any improvements that they make since it will make an already fabulous B&B even better. We're also looking forward to getting to see the gorgeous lake that Pressey House sits on during the summertime.

We truly appreciated their hospitality and generosity. Waking up on that gorgeous lake in the warm summer, the kids running, jumping, kayaking, playing instead of being on their electronics was an incredible feeling. This time, for the night of Sept 7, 2025 myself and a bunch of friends booked a few suites and a few rooms for an event in Sidney, Maine. We didn't book as a group, but we got lucky and 3 of our 5 rooms were on the 4th floor. We got back late and stayed up a little late catching up-so I asked for a late check out, which they obliged and gave me till noon. I got up with plenty of time, but if you know this place it's a bit of a maze and I had to go find a bell cart. I was loading up the bell cart at just a few minutes past noon then I was putting trash in the baskets and doing a last bit of tidying...when as I was literally about to walk out the housekeeper on the 4th floor started yelling at me...it was past time. I said, "I know (like doesn't she see the cart?) I am walking out now". This lady clearly has never worked with customers before (or maybe she is one of the reasons this place has abysmal reviews?!?!?) because even as I walked out she went on and on about how I wasn't honoring the sacred oath I took when I accepted the late check out...I'm only half joking...this lady was actually having a good time speaking to me like a child even though I was already leaving (oh and I took my tip I had left them because I was so pissed). This lady doesn't belong around people in any capacity. We all agreed otherwise we had a solid stay but this left such a sour taste in my mouth. People have options and if this was my business I would want to know how people are being treated. Sure, I was running a few minutes late. Maybe I should have been executed!?!?! I asked her, "I guess you have never been running late". Whatever drug she quit cold turkey to be in such a bad mood, maybe she should ween herself off it next time... What happened was honestly awful. The first night, someone behind the desk told me service dogs weren't allowed at the hotel. I was stunned. That's not just wrong -- it's against the law. I left feeling embarrassed and singled out. The next day, I came back with documents (which I don't even legally have to provide), and they flat-out refused to look at them. I explained what my dog is trained to do for me, and they told me she was just an emotional support animal and basically accused me of lying about my disability. They wouldn't even let me go upstairs to visit my father. I've never felt so humiliated or dismissed. My rights were completely ignored. This place clearly doesn't understand -- or respect -- the law when it comes to service animals and people with disabilities. If you travel with a service dog, please be careful. No one deserves to be treated this way.

Desperate for lodging since car needed more work and sun set I called around looking for a dog friendly hotel. 2 hotels in the area but only one with two full beds for all 4 of us and the dog. Checkin was easy and attendant very helpful. Walk to room from front desk was long and yes we encountered the smell of cigarette and marijuana occasionally , but nothing in our room. Dog found a pair of socks immediately upon entering the room which made me question the cleanliness of this room. Upon further inspection all else was good. After a very stressful afternoon we decided to go to the restaurant and bar for a drink and to check out the menu. Decent selector items. We got a pizza which was good. Waitress was friendly and attentive to our needs. We slept OK with TV on to muffle a bang or two here and there. We had two complimentary breakfast slips so husband and I went and enjoyed a lovely breakfast. It was filling up fast when we left. Apparently local people enjoy this spot. Although we needed in an emergency and the hotel has some homeless folks we would stay again. The service was great, accommodations were comfortable, and price was good.
