Check in was OK. The staff friendly and moon pies a plus. The price was the best in the area. Parking was plentiful, although I didn't like that the parking seemed to be in a rather sketchy side of the convoluted layout of this hotel. I think more lighting in the parking lot would make it feel safer. The outside of the building needs updating. It looks old and tacky. Inside the doors to all the rooms look new. The room is a decent size. The rug looked old and should be ripped out in my opinion. I think other people who said the beds are great must have updated rooms. Our beds were old and lumpy and when you sat on it, or moved at night the springs would squeak REALLY loud. So loud that every time my son rolled over in his bed in the middle of the night, he woke me and my husband up. Also, I could feel every spring in that bed. The pillows are like half pillows and are the worst. But the room was pretty clean. (And I am a person who pulls the sheets apart before I sleep in the bed to check the piping for bedbugs) (Also, BTW-someone here wrote a review saying they had bed bug bites all over, Just FYI, that's not how bed bugs bite. Bed bugs only bite on exposed skin and usually in a 3 bites in a row pattern, maybe that person had a reaction to what ever detergent the hotel uses) Anyway, My big issue is the bathroom. How about a FAN. No fan in the room with my husband and adult son. That's just miserable. Also the bathroom door has a slatted vent at the bottom, further eliminating any sense of privacy you could want. Bottom line the bathroom is terrible. (The water pressure is good) The walls are very thin. Could hear conversations in the hallway very clearly. Some staff were pretty loud while giving directions to people looking for a bus. It was about 7am as I listened to the whole conversation from my bed. We dropped something by the night stand and found someone elses sock and some questionable food, either cereal or dog food.? Aside from that, the room appeared pretty clean. The house keepers were always about and very friendly. I don't think the Restaurant is part of the hotel but it is attached, so I'll include a short review. Slow. If you have time and want a chocolate shake, I suppose it's worth it as there's a deal in June for a cheap shake. But be prepared to wait a long time for it. I don't think any of the food here is special in any way. The breakfast by the lobby is typical continental breakfast fare. There is no regular milk for coffee, only 1%. So gross. There is a Starbucks within walking distance, and a Dunkin Donuts across the street in the Walmart. Actually also within walking distance, but due to traffic you may want to just drive. There is also a Sub (hero, grinder whatever you call it) place nearby that my son said is very good. Walking distance. We stayed here because our entire family was staying here. Overall you couldn't beat the price. My biggest concern is cleanliness. This place did ok. I would advise them though that although they say they are no smoking, I smelled cigarette smoke. We stayed on the first floor room 306 (I think) and as we walked through the hallway we could smell cigarette smoke coming from somewhere. We are long time x smokers so we are very sensitive to that. Editing this because I forgot to mention, I didn't know it was a dog friendly hotel. I love dogs, but I don't want to sleep in a hotel bed that might have had a dog in it previously. Since the nugget found under the nightstand was probably dog food I'm guessing a dog had been staying in this room at one point. Also, we stayed two nights and was awakened both days around 6:15 AM by very loud, prolonged barking from what had to be a decent sized dog coming from a nearby room. As I said, I love dogs so I wasn't too bothered by it, because I get up early anyway, but I'm sure some others may have been really angry. My son said I'm being too generous giving two stars, but it really could have been worse. I've stayed at worse places. At least they didn't "allegedly" fraudulently use my credit card like another hotel I stayed at in St. Augustine Florida. Read that review for more fun. read more
